much and welcome to snowy state college here on campus at penn state it's the big ten regular season finale coming up on fs1 as the penn state and indy lions take on the fighting illini from illinois and good evening everybody great to have you with us alongside robert smith i'm cory provost while penn state robbed a bowl game or not that decision should come up relatively soon illinois won the toss to ferd so penn state will have the ball from its own 25-yard line as we start play tonight here at penn state to clifford's left and on first down here's a quick throw and that's caught in there goes duxton dodson down the sideline 20 10. touchdown penn state [Applause] [Music] 75 yards right quarterback throws short run long just a little hitch here out to dodson but he does a great job once he gets it just turning on the afterburners and getting away from everybody except for that rep along the sideline hey they're excited about it that's great extra point is up and good out to these wide receivers but these running backs as well they've got some talented guys there in the backfield number one isaiah williams in motion and williams has the ball the quarterback throws and short enough hits brown so illinois answers with a third and eight williams time runs out slips away once williams slips away again and as a first down out of bounds across the 32-yard billy porter junior good to go marquise wilson up the middle and that one at the 5-yard line is going to be picked up intercepted by the aforementioned ellis straight up the field because he puts a lot of air on this thing that one gets picked so illinois with a good looking drive but a clean catch and a pick from ellis and a timeout from its own six-yard line clifford through one pass and connected a touchdown to jahan dodson and now clifford keeps this one they'll have a first down as that ball came out and witherspoon has it in his hands and illinois needs to be clear and convincing evidence saying otherwise and here you can see where the leg goes down but you can't see when the ball comes out opinion on this in a second or two from la but that uh that's really close right there all right let's bring inside it's almost like williams complete that ill-advised throw now he has the ball right where it was going to be and here's brown threads and now option it's williams finds a bit of a pocket and williams slips inside the dean great instincts running the ball now they go fast and feed brown as the pile surges forward on first and goal they'll fake the handoff williams rolls right throws into the end zone that is extra point away from tying this game up at 7. penn state had this box completely loaded expecting the run isaiah williams does a nice job keeping the play alive as you mentioned brian hightower the miami transfer a lot pulls that one in and the extra point is up and good pass off the turnover all tied at seven [Applause] [Applause] [Music] does a nice job starting this one up the field but as you can see right here this is a return that's designed to go to the left just a kicker to beat turns it up same sideline that dodson sped up same ref running along the sideline to play on special teams and penn state answers back and what a start 14. what do you have a quarterback that can run brown and now brown look at this burst elvis williams williams kept it inside the 15 and williams just shoved down near the top on the reed on this one keeps that thing good decision right there turns it up burns on the jets besides he's not going to make it so just four yards for isaiah williams and now this is brown he's hit in the backfield and he is going to be dropped for a walk brooks leads this penn state defense and tackles next deploy it'll be second down up the middle that opens up to the end zone stretching and scoring is chase brown nice job up front again for this illini group look at all that space so rare to have something like that 75-yard draw it took 61 seconds [Applause] so after the loss to third down at seven illinois bringing pressure and do they ever and jake hansen on the blitz sacks clifford [Applause] and williams rolls throws and that's high but pulled down by the tight end daniel barker i'll pick up a few more yards averaging six yards per carry got five there on second down at five it's williams again up the middle and he has a first down on first down they faked the handoff and they swing it out this is barker again and parker open sideline end zone touchdown illinois [Applause] a little bit of the bubble screen they can see the position the leverage that the defense had they thought they could get it to him but nobody comes up to make the tackle you never replay the dance unfortunately look at that one going to break you better believe journey brown had to retire into a medical condition noah kane first first play in the first game ford haven't seen him tonight even target pat fryermuth is hurt bretton strange his backup has looked tremendous this will be a design run this is clifford he'll dive in speed they do give him a first down and we see will levis number seven his first action tonight appearing in his eighth game start of the iowa game he'll throw over the middle and that's caught under the 30-yard line by theo john play call flipper back in levis threw the ball three times last week this one at the edge of the red zone here might be a chance to take a shot now the runner would lead lee inside the 20 and lee has brought down the loss to northwestern last week illinois defense a lot more than making things happen closing speed right there penn state hole two on third down so far [Applause] tonight drops back in coverage clifford trying to feed it on the ground and clifford twists and tumbles touchdown run it's levis up to the middle as the pile surges for a first down great job of it right there good in the drive this is keyvon lee inside the 30 and lee will have a first down [Music] from the 25 here's lee again and he is smack down and get to the point of attack smith the transfer from miami florida and that's caught by dawson gets those hips open they get it to him it's lee and he'll pick players not here tonight but the ones that are here they're playing a very high level of intensity there's lee up the middle there's the ball just [Applause] that second bit going fast leading by seven clifford to lee up the middle into the end zone touchdown penn state boy that drive for the most part was all number 24. it's never just about you it's about those guys up front clearing the way nice physical performance from that offensive line from penn state that entire team all big ten selection and the extra point from pinnacle is up but he has really done a tremendous job with these players third down they set up the screen and penn state was ready for that as chase brown goes nowhere right on cue shock attorney from its own 30. holds the tail back as clifford sets up the screen finds johan dodson needs some blockers and he's got it and there's dawson speed on display 10 5 touchdown penn state illinois was playing here giving him way too much space you can see a little bit of a tunnel screen right here the juice strokes got out in front of them nice blocks but it was the speed once again recognizing what they needed to get to what they could take a chance with help this williams did a good job hanging up that ball brandon smith nearly dropped it three as williams complete for campbell coverage from [Music] after a gain of seven at second down clifford surveys rolls and throws open washington first down here left it down rather than forcing it down field state doesn't use one of their timeouts here instead the clock runs and clifford hits over the middle now [Applause] [Music] so two timeouts and ten seconds to go until halftime on second down clifford got hit as he threw that one out of bounds that pocket collapsed had to get rid of it and he 34 yards out [Music] [Applause] illinois has not been able to consistently throw the football defenders on the backside five receiver package on third down today williams in trouble and hit and set by pj mustafer honorable mention all big ten performers on third down get the ball back to their offense they say three of six on third down tonight pressure coming clifford in trouble and he is sacked [Music] back inside the ten yard line ready to make the play probably four down territory we'll see what the call is up third and five it's a run for williams slips away and williams will have a first down has to be four down territory i don't think illinois needs to get all ten here his third and ten but a good pocket that's tipped in incomplete back at the 20-yard line casey seven out of 14 on board down this season williams pressure coming and down he goes back to the 40 the ball came out antonio shelton for the blind side brought the pressure the bulk illinois brings four over the middle and drops i haven't seen that from jahan from joshua who's out tonight they haven't had a consistent receiver threat on third down over the middle that's caught but [Applause] [Music] now three catches tonight another run and lee gets outside takes a hit high after that kind of hit there's lee in the first down run out near the 16-yard line i haven't heard much from washington in the pass game today let's see if we do now status lee he's driven down ready to play second [Applause] [Applause] he's throwing one pass tonight boxing goes in motion and levis will go over the second time swings it out for strange slips away [Applause] but [Applause] kind of honorary big uglies but you can see right here strange does a nice job getting away from joseph on the outside who had an opportunity to get him and then the live player [Applause] yeah they're showing pressure including corner pressure now leaders on third down he'll throw deep over the middle and incomplete too far for daniel [Music] right there and that's the time you're trailing you know simeon rice in a defensive category illinois history have done pretty well and now the illinois defense makes another play as clifford is set what's coming and that's throwing incomplete did the best he could was on that route so close he threw that in towards the receipt for his hands may have been picked out third and five a pocket for now hit from behind and incomplete it is an incomplete pass there was time but then that pocket at the end condition with journey brown just so much that they've been through [Applause] williams runs on the third and ten will be tackled i would have to say that that would be a m that other team that would get in not clemson or excuse me not notre dame so the loss today is home to the first down catch a m's best victory would be over florida and you didn't even qualify for your championship game so i'm just glad that we ended up here getting to the championship saturday after the second now a big run and a first down run 18 healthy scholarship players available on defense on first down is levis up the middle and levis sliding is not part of appreciation for lovie smith all the things they learned from him one of the things they learned from them was that you keep on playing the coach i came here to play for illinois i don't play for the people that work for illinois and that's not a knock on the uh i love what it can do for you as a complete student a second down holmes seeking his second touchdown tonight is going to be schneider these guys are setting up really well looking at next year we'll see if they make the decision to play in a boulder third down it's holmes it's into the end zone another touchdown and i really like kaziah holmes you know these young running backs and wide receiver to their development throughout the course of this season you can see that push right there they've done a tremendous job now in a quarterback that makes it five quarterbacks illinois has now used this season versus field and span 100 yards rushing spinning across the 35-yard line penn state will end the regular season on a four-game winning streak and will they go to a bowl game will they choose to go to a bowl game that decision is going to be made i would think relatively soon and we've seen here's a carry for a guy with a great name this is tanks victory number 299 for penn state here at beaver stadium so we'll try for number 300 to come 20 21. so james franklin we got here one game too soon that's right penn state wins big tonight 56-21
