hello guys mark Newton from the school of photography here now in this tutorial I'm going to talk to you about something that's called I see em intentional camera movement it's something that's been around for years it's just someone somewhere has put a name to it and all it means is that you are intentionally moving your camera throughout the exposure to get certain a face generally they're abstract type of effects very very easy technique to do really good fun and on a day like this when we've come out to the forest to try and get some really cool shots and as you can see it's really gray and boring you can still get some really good imagery so I'm going to show you now how to do it so the main thing that you need to think about with this actually is what you're going to show because the technique is really simple I'm going to show you to show it to you now but what I've got in front of me the these really tall trees I think they're conifers or pine trees or whatever they are down but they're going up nice and straight and tall and the idea is as I shoo as I take the picture I'm going to pan up with my tripod like that and get this kind of blurred abstract look it really is as simple as that now all you do is you put your camera on to shutter speed priority TV here I'm gonna canon half a second works alright but this is something that you are gonna need to experiment with because it also depends on how fast you pan your camera so if you're going to do a nice slow pane half a second might be fine if you're going to do a quick one then you might need to go to you know quarter of a second or whatever just focus on what you want framing up nicely I have got a 50 Mille prime lens on now and I quite like that for this kind of stuff because it's an azure ICS lens so it kind of boxes things in quite nicely it doesn't obscure things and if you imagine we've got these straight lines a 50 mil a standard lens you know it's not going to obscure straight lines so it makes sense to use a 50 mil lens on a full frame camera let's just give it a go on half a second and see how it goes I'm just gonna loosen up my tripod ass better that's better like that okay so focus in on what you want to focus in on so what I'm going to do is that's that's the kind of frame that I want I'm going to now come down slightly take the shot and pan up and there you go it really is a simple set [Music] real kind of abstract looking pictures I'm going to take a few more maybe I'll go a little bit slower this time [Music] you don't just have to do straight lines going up I'm gonna do some twisting ones now take it off the tripod now let's give that a go but before I going to show you that other idea let me tell you about the courses that we run over at the school of photography comm we teach photography properly we are professional teachers and we've been doing it since 2002 so if you want to learn photography Lightroom studio lighting Photoshop or anything photography related come over and see us we will teach you properly I promise you that and there is loads of freebies over there as well so you can try before you buy okay let's go and do that other idea [Music] so obviously it's autumn and what we've got if these ferns going lovely brown color but in amongst them there's still some green ones and I really like this and like I said before when you've got this when you do these movement shots it don't just have to be going you know up and down we can also go left and right but we can also twist and that's what we're going to do now I'm going to do some twisting I'm actually going to use my lens hood because you know your lenses they twist don't mean they come off well I can just use that as a sort of pivot if you like so I'm just gonna pivot my camera on the lens hood and find a focus point I'm gonna try this is what I'm going to try and get a green fern with all the brown ones bellowing around in the background and the and the good thing about the spinny ones is whatever is in the center is least likely to blur so you can get the middle sharp ish and the rest circling around it that's the theory let's go I've got a nice green one here and I've changed the shutter speed to a quarter of a second for this one because I'm gonna be quite quick yeah like that here we go got me focus point good that's gotta take some practice just do it good that's better that's better here we go here we go [Music] yes yes yes yes I think I was going too fast and that is what this is all about good experiment that's just great fun anyway ain't it I mean like I say even if the weather is not great you can do this kind of stuff get some abstract looks now if you're going to have a go at this why don't you show us just hashtag the school
