hello and welcome to Lauren gaming plays I Swindell enhanced edition I'm host larvae and say sigh Swindell enhanced edition video guide I'm sure everybody basics of this game from crane your character combat the UI and even some tips about the randomization of our loot in this game and dungeons as always like comment and subscribe my child from war I spent Dale content like this and dungeon dragon content to and you know I hit that notification bell so be up-to-date on all my content and videos so you're wondering okay I just got Icewind Dale the no audition from good ol games or better yet the enhanced edition and I do not know what to do well guess what help is on the way I'm here to help you all out now the game was originally released in June 29th of the year 2000 then it got enhanced in October 30 of 2014 and now has write officially on the consoles on October 15th 2019 now real quick about the difficulty of the game it starts out easy normal hard core and then there's heart of winter mode we're not going to touch harder winter mode at all now my advice on difficulty overall is just start on Eire the hard core rules or lower so now we're gonna skip part of winter since that's a span ship back and higher level pack so we're gonna select Icewind Dale that's the first thing you want to do is that now real quick about the story it's about you and six adventures together saving the ten towns from disaster that's behind the scenes that's really bad now here's the thing about creating your own party this is different than bars gate bars gate you have one character one life that character dies game over this game six characters they all die game over so you get five dead and one alive to bring everybody back and resurrect them and still go on so this is thing we're going to do is custom fire you want do custom party first because you want to get used to your characters you want the default party is nice I advise against this because of one main reason I read have people could get in control of their own parties and stitches for having a default party you might not like the classes for it so this guy will show every single class there is in the game and help you you're a selection help much better so they also carried this a party system to the bars gate game which is nice but still like I said for one life that's it main character dies now this game new six we're gonna create our party right now so you can hit the creation menu and we're going to select our gender you could become male and female which is out really nice so select which one you feel comfortable for each everyone characters you get all six females and all six males it's up to you all on that now next up these portraits are just purely cosmetic as I said for pick which one you want to pick now if you plan a PC version get transport pictures or photos from other games into this game makes it really awesome now next up is the races let me give everybody a difference between dual classing and multi classing now multi classing they'll share experience between the classes or multi class for instance at elf say it's a fighter a mage and a thief that the shared experience will between them they'll be slowly allowing those classes however they have access to abilities with some restriction of course now for instance humans on the other hand with dual classing well guess what you are level 1 class say you won't be a fighter you stop won't be a fire at level say 13 you want to become a mage now then at the level 14 mage then your fire built these do come back now humans right now just average and everything they could become all the classes again except for one or two I'll touch up on that in a bit but still if you wanna go dual class and go ahead I advise against it in this game but I do have eyes for in Baldur's Gate once since your focus on one character instead of six that's my main reason now elf Sonya halo has +1 dexterity minus one Constitution have resistance against charm and sleep and information which is very nice next up is a half elves they have info vision left resistance but no penalties that's really good after this will be the dwarf they're very strong plus one constitutional one dexterity ninja to christmas however they have some resistance and some good saving throws and i can see in the dark after that we'll be the halflings that +1 dexterity - when strength and wisdom however they're very good for thieving abilities and have some very nice saving throws after the halfling class are known as +1 intelligence -1 wisdom and they have two nights of saving throws in provision they're great for a casters such as mages and last lot lately half-orcs +1 strength +1 Constitution knives - intelligence they're great for frontline fires so overall pick which one you feel that is right for you that's my advice for races in I Swindell so pick which one's right for you six party members now let's talk about the classes next I'll go over them first off our fires their frontline warriors like where almost any weapons and armor with a few restriction from class only weapons and armor they have 10 a hit point dice that's one d-10 when you roll the dice every time you level up the grandmaster specialization melee weapons and more now berserkers on the other hand they use rage like a mini rage version which busting them up a bit in their attack and little bit RAC they've come window after berserk King now wizard Slayers on the other hand they hit their foes spell failure disadvantages of courses uh they can't use any magical ions apart from weapons and armor now Kenzi the other hand they're dispatches Noah armor or bracers cannot use ranged weapons however they do hit like a Mack truck have extra AC and there are fastened certain weapons they may use Kai which is powerful now barbarians have the most hit point dice which is one d12 when you roll of the dice the rage is very powerful they move fast and when a race is very strong and powerful so that's it for the fires except for one more we're gonna talk about real quick which is for the dwarf now the dwarfs they come dorvan defenders that's the option they could become now there are defenders they have whole bunch of defenses however they're restricted to I think four ticks on axes and hammers and you only have to be a door that's the only disadvantage for the door and defender other than that they're really good frontline tanks I used them before and they are great now next up is the range of class they're crossing between a fire and Druitt they can wear any weapons and armor and wear helmets they have to take specialization they could charm animals I could track things down they also have favorite m knees favorite means that bonus against their enemies they get their spells starting at 1600 it's level one they're restricted to a good alignment but they have ten hit point dices now archers on the other hand they specialize more in ranged weapons how are your melee weapons comes one tick specialization can I use charm animals and cannot wear a male armor stalkers on the other hand kind of where's that going where stud but they call so back stamp and cast spells which are very good though really good for this game last but not least is the Beastmaster they summon animals nap I shall move silently very good other net I'm gonna be honest Pesach just trust me they suck that's it for the Rangers now next up is appalling class which is cross between a fighter and a cleric now their alignment restrict mhm gotta be lawful good except for the black guard more on that like a cure disease to tech evil lay our hands which heals themselves or other smite evil can use weapons just like at the fire sir restricted to two ticks they have one 10 hit point dice rolls which is uh good now Cavaliers they can remove fear immunity arm fear poison and more however they can't use range weapons at all now quizzers they can dispel magic and see-through illusions how are they're very strict against the can't turn undead cannot lay hands calculus ease can I cast spells but their immune upholds charm undead hunters are immune to hold and drain levels Howard I cannot use layer on hands and cure disease they have a damage bonus against the undead now next up is the blackguard and dirty anti paladin they're very evil obviously restrict the evil they're immune to level drain and fear may turn on debt just like paladin's here's the thing about them too they call so use poison weapons Aurora which is very nice and absorb health they are really evil just trust me now next up is the cleric now they can wear any helmets and armor Howard are restricted to blunt weapons there are only one persisting weapons and armor and they may turn undead which is powerful make cash pre spells which from healing attacking and even buffing which is more wisdom is their dual classing and requirement now priests italo's are evil clerics that can use lightning spell storm shields however you're restricted to evil and chaotic neutral now next up is the preset helm their neutral and they can also summon sword cast true seeing that sees through illusion but they're restricted to lawful good lawful new to lawful evil and true neutral now priests to land are they can also do boon & latha which is like a little saving throw a building which is nice and hold undead once per day how are you got to be lawful good have to be good now priests of tear you have to be lawful and stuff where you can't be evil but you can also be lawful good - they have to find favor which is above and now priests of tempest right here gives you a holy power and chaos bow which buffs you up for he nicely how are you restricted to the chaos spectrum so that's it for the cleric classes now next up our D droids are restricted to nonmetallic armor the restricted some weapons armor Howard it casts a druid spells which is like clerics spells but is aligned with nature they're restricted a true neutral power some of their spells are very a powerful I to me they're really powerful with some DPS damaging more tome drewett's they summon uh special spirits that helps them out that cannot ship ship that's the only disadvantage of that now next up is the shapeshifter with life and throaty that gets transformed into a werewolf cannot wear any armor and it cannot ship shaped in anything else because their werewolf blood in them now ventures there like cross between a mage and a druid which is very powerful casts upon Cain spells cannot wearing armor at all on - unless it's leather and they have stat penalties now next up is the mage class it cannot wear any armor restricted a few weapons one d4 hit dice let me third the lowest hit points in the game Howard intelligence their primary stat they learned their spells from scribing Scrolls and you can pick and choose which spells you want in their loans you have the intelligence so let's talk about the specialization after is protective magic how every count learn alteration or illusion schools if this specialization path now next on the list is conjure summoning creatures and objects however you cannot learn invocation spells no DPS for you well somewhat DPS after that is the diviner detection dividing magic you learned specialized how we can't learn not conjuration at which you cannot summon now next up is the enchanter now sharing deals with manipulating the mind of Sentinel beings however you can't learn invocation school if you pick this path after that is a luge inist now illusion is specialized in create legends and mislead how we count learn necromancer your app duration school nopon those two schools now next up is the invoker deals with Malaysia a raw and elemental energies especially most DPS spells you can't learn to be mination or conjuration schools no on that now necromancer deals with the dead and some needy dead or in death you can't learn illusion or enchantment schools if you pick this path now as for transmuter last but not least especially a school deals with altars our physical reality you can't learn operation or necromancy schools that's it for this specialization schools now next up is the wild mage they gained one extra spell slot and some other spells that deals with while search while search happens when there's a 5% chance of us philippine cast so be careful what you are cast you might get that magic missle and summon a demon or something bear that benefits you so my advice on the mage section is picked a generalist major I hear this class and if you feel good pick the specialization and your second playthrough or even while mates just try for fun that's it from the major section of this video now next up is the thief class let's talk about the base of that class you cannot wearing armor heavier than stud it if you do you lose your thieving buildings if you a multi-class or dual class you could backstab you could steal you could say well traps you could pick locks pickpockets you also eBay and there's also a set number of backstabbing to in multiplayer so you also have evasion - all you have 1 d6 hit dice and you only you cannot be lawful good no there's no lawful good thief and dexterity is their main attribute now assassins they specialize in pointing weapons and their backsides more powerful and they only could distribute 15 skill points per level that's their disadvantage now next up is the bounty 100 now bounty hunter or trap crazy thieves that could also trap targets do some damage they're very nasty with traps how are their disadvantages they only get 20 skill points per level swashbucklers they have fire abilities +1 armor class and more and he specialized in two slot Milley weapons three and two weapon style however they cannot backstab or do anything else thievish shout the answers they could disappear V Estelle thing or even plain sight their backstop multipliers weaker and they may not use a set snare ability that's it basically for the thief class now next up is the park class they could sing songs wear armor heavier in chainmail thinking even uses scrolls which is awesome however if you cast spells you will have to quit unclip your armor and they have some good songs say some really good songs there are limas restricted the neutral Javert or hit dices 1d6 so overall they're like the jack of all trades master of none with some thieving and buildings and some singing now blades they have off defense offense and defensive spins they could play the Battle of the three heroes however everything else they cannot play and there are Laura and pickpocket values are all lower justice they sing chaotic songs drive people nuts mainly the enemy how are their other songs of rock cancelled if you pick this kit now scouts in the other hand they have a bonus the damage rules they sing uh AC buffing songs and damage songs however their pickpocket scores are one quarter lower than normal and that's it for the bard class now next up is the sorcerer class between a sorcerer a mage is simple mages learn their spells from scribed scrolls and their book sorcerers they learn their spells from leveling so you don't pick wisely on sorcerer further spells otherwise everything else is the same between the mage and sorcerers for armor hitpoints and more now next up are monks are unarmed fires cannot wearing Armour however their fists are their weapons they have special abilities which includes stunning blow and more and their armor class starts to get lower every time a level and their fists start become more magical weapons and basically monks are not bad they're actually pretty good to use if you want to use a unarmed fighter and a restricted lawful that's the bad news now dark monks are like evil monks they have frozen fists which steals frost damage they also use blindness ones per day to cast blur vampire touch and mirror image sound so amongst they deal with fire and taking out undead they're very powerful how are they lose stunning blow and quivering from their restricted lawful good so that's it for the monk if you're in a fist fighting just like Shaolin monks monks are for you now next up is a shaming class or restricted a study of armor leather armor and hide armor cannot use any shields larger than buckler's now good bad news about their spells is this there are spells they learn from leveling just like sorcerers no memorization pick and go rest when you need a rest now they have a special dance move when they dance they take penalties however they summon help they are restricted to neutral alignments and are hit dices 1d8 and do not benefit from high wisdom of scores the shaming class came from the siege of dragons for your bar escape one expansion pack and that is it for all the classes so far in icewind dale enhance edition so now into the next section now next up is the alignment so let me go over each and every one the alignments for instance lawful good they believe in the rules that benefits everyone believes that law should benefit everyone a good example that is a paladin I'm gonna probably say to free from Ultima series now neutral good they believe in being a meal of chaos and law power differences if the rules aren't that valuable that's evil then I'll fight against it otherwise they're good guys really in the middle now carrot go down believe in rules however they brave in the gray are good all the rules good sample is Robin Hood he's for the people now next up on the list is lawful neutral don't care if the rules are good or evil they believe everything down the middle now after that's true neutral they're right smack in the center for instance if some soldiers are attacking Cobalts also in the Cobalts are about to be wiped out the neutral to neutral people join sidle Cobalts now chaotic neutral they believe in no laws also there are chaotic at times seriously chaotic not good or evil they'll gamble all your money way be careful with them lawful evil they've been there will rules to their needs to their benefits think of a politician for that for that instance new to evil they don't believe in the law or chaos to believe in the midle however if it makes them money or even hurts people they'll go for it now last but not least is chaotic evil no rules they believe to take everything by power if you are weak they'll smash you and destroy you Keira Eve are the most evil personalities so that's your alignment there are some restrictions to alignment for instance paladins they'll be stuck with lawful good these that cannot be lawful good so choose accordingly on your linemen now let's get with the attributes first of all is strength that gives you more melee damage call so open doors carry more items strong character means a much more powerful melee and carrying things now next up is dexterity now dexterity affects your hand-eye coordination and also your armor class higher dexterity the lower your armor class you want lower armor class in this game trust me on that after dexterity is I believe it's Constitution now Constitution gives some resistance against diseases and injuries and more however when you level up you get more Constitution means more hit points so that's just whatever more hit points come from after it's intelligence how smart your character is it's very important for mages mages because lower intelligence Lord Chancellor expels so get that intelligence 218 wisdom means your judgment and more that's great for raw priests is such as clerics and druids get that high 218 at least for them now after this last one is I believe is charisma how well people perceive you also some buildings will benefit from that such as from druids bards and paladin especially paladin's because I started with 17 charisma so my advice on rolling the stats is simple look at the total number if it gets say above the 80s or so then you do is use the minus keys right there and just pick which stat you want in your characters I have a fire for instance I'm doing strength right there now strength for instance if you roll in strength can get lucky that's 18 and 0 which means 18 a hundred other than that that's my advice on your character rolls now next up fish are proficient she slots how proficient you are in weapons more proficiency more damage you do more bones should get with certain weapons or even styles so when you are playing this game pick the weapon and then pick the weapon style you're most comfortable with now next up is your appearance this is all optional there's a set of color palettes there so if you want to look like a night out go for if you want to look like the Dead go for if you want to look like a normal person go for everyone look like The Incredible Hulk definitely go for it same thing with hair style you want pink hair style go for it you want black go for it you want to dress like a credible Hulk as it looks right here go for it this is just optional and cosmetic and that's the sounds to of the game too now if you're on the PC version if someone's modding sounds they can add sounds there are files console versions not so much but the sounds are very good in the game so my final vices is a create each of the six characters you want to your needs leastly have a cleric mage thief and fire and then fill in the rest as your our needs now let's talk about the UI basics and more and some advice about town what you do now when your town talk to everybody that's important obviously that's seriously important also I'll start by formation later on too let's go through the selections so when you selected characteristics like them all at once for one ad time you can move on around console versions most likely you have to use a controller unless you on the switch they'll probably the option to tap the screen which is very uh nice so now that's the map right there that's your map use it a lot just trust me it helps you immensely next up is your journal it gives you updates on questions and more the old version the games it was a mess with the quests and enhanced edition did a great job with that now next up is the inventory screen this is your inventory screen right here where you get to hold your things inventory space is very limited same thing on the ground - now there's quick weapon slots depending on what class you have and also your weight right there so if you're stronger more you can carry weaker less you get carried now first of all it's armor class it tells you how much armor class you have the lower the number of better is your hit points right there 13 and 13 for instance I have 13 current hit points and 13 maximum now to hit right here here's how it works if you have base a taiko of 19 and your foe is 17 you need a roll a 12 or better on the Dyson where to hit them otherwise you want him at all as for a fist that's your a weapon right there unless you have a better weapon that's basically it free inventory slot as for taiko make sure you equip weapons you are specialized to for it so if this guy is a baster sword well make sure you quit base of swords and my barbarian uses on short swords so make sure you clip that on her too so again if you're starting over income print give your items they're more heavier to stronger characters and also make sure you save your story I most the story arms are weak given to your weak things like your mages and more and that's it for the inventory system basically it's really good in this game it's really easy to use next up is your character records left of the portrait is your stats and a bottom of these statues your hip points armor class and more on the rights there now reputation is not pouring just as bars get one but still there's seven points in game you want good reputation very important for paladins or a Gai classes you do anything wrong you become falling and you can't become a pounder of Jewett anymore and it's painful and those are the you're saving throws right there that tells you what you could resist uh what resistance you could do good we could do bad and there's also your proficiencies see my character has participation long swords and baster swords and there's your abilities to hit damage and more there's also a kit description customization you can even export to different games if you want to I believe but I think it's only for this game now next up this is your major spell books once you scribe a spell or if you're a sorcerer your spells will go automatically go here so there's only a set number of spells you can subscribe depending on your intelligence for mages sorcerers their force in a set number so remember that for mages and sorcerers now next up is the pre Scrolls for instance druids and clerics in your poundings and rangers they learn a set number of spells as for shaman's well they're just like sources they only learn a set amount and that is it right there so that's it for this spell casting section now next up let's talk about Rishta UI the gear right there you want to save save often save early safe before going at dunton safer for a level start safe before fighting a boss save save save that's important there's also formation on the bottom screen there use it and abuse it also a magnifying glass that an enhanced edition they could turn on firmly the names of NPCs you can see and your character 10 points and also spot loot on the ground makes things easier and I pause the game right there and also that's your day in time so daytime stores are open nighttime they're not goes to get into it in and as for resting I advise resting outside if you do be careful evany could jump you ends are the safest in the game especially in this game just trust me and last but not least I talked to area bite it helps immensely so that's basically it for the UI section in this game here now in the next section I'll show a quick demonstration of ball combat now next part you're going oh boy combat what should I do very simple abuse the pause section pause the game pick your characters to your needs now stuff for Emily's use spells otherwise conserve your uh spells I watch got the rest a lot especially from ages and clerics to get their own spells back I learned that make sure you kill every mes you can tell your needs be careful plan accordingly abuse the pausing this game nothing right there it's very easy and when you level up there's a plus on your screen so let's talk about loot randomization next last but not least what makes icewind dale unique is loot realization now you see that dungeon there here's the deal about that save your game and then if you go in a dungeon go inside of a chest or to feed em neither say a boot to speed on one enemy then lit up if you want if you don't like it then reload to say before the dungeon and a different i'm will up here sometimes there are static items but still i Swindell is a perfect for randomization of loot and some randomization loot is really good so that's basically about how the dungeons work in the game and here's my tips if you have a thief or thief class make sure you go and slowly go stealthily look for traps traps and kill in this game make sure your are weak characters are in the back everybody else is up front rest if you're gonna rest be careful outside enemies will jump you like a whole bunch of yetis didn't outside here also uh know what to buy and know what to sell i know your characters to another good advice um give everybody is as a spell memorization pick which spells you want to memorize and I also use there's also breach spells that are great for casters as for a cleric should go healing spells buffing spells there's even death Lord if you get that layer on put that on era buy or lease the important people offline upfront torn undead is a wonderful tool you'll be facing a lot in a game or leasing this part a game and other than that just to have fun enjoy the game and tell your party to your needs well that is it for my don't panic
