I won't be buying the Heritage Audio Grand Child

we live in a really exciting time to be alive if you're a uh a home recording person you run a home studio or an amateur Studio or if you're uh you know one of the last professional Studios out there uh it would have been fun to be alive in the mid 60s or the late 60s or the early 70s probably not so much in the'80s at all but uh we've got some some really nice uh what was really nice classic gear starting to surface back here this is the Heritage audio grandchild 670 that 670 tells me it's got to be stereo and for the price I would hope so looks like they've got a let's see after having shocked and impressed the audience to with the hair child they do a hair child to the rack amount uh an analog stereo variable mu so how did I know it was stereo because of the 670 the uh the original mono was the 660 I'm just going to show you what this stuff is emulating I'm going go over to eBay if I can find it there you go you can grab yourself up a a Fairchild 670 for a a cool 300 Grand US that's how much stuff that's how much this stuff costs so um there it is it's the Fairchild 670 meaning stereo that's what the back looked like good luck having that fixed but yeah apparently it's the real deal here for $300,000 so Heritage or I'm sorry Fairchild just just re-released uh reissued there's 670 I think the reissue is going to be $225,000 us the Fairchild reissues are currently available from your favorite local retailer you can expect to pay around 25,000 for the 660 and 35,000 for the 670 although this may seem like a staggering price tag it's still a fraction of the cost of a vintage Fairchild well and you can see that cuz you know here on eBay is the 670 for 300,000 so you can hear these things now I I'm only speaking from a place of of uh owning the universal audio software plug-in emulation okay so I've only ever played with universal audios plug-in emulation and a few other VST emulations so that's my limited reference to the Fairchild sound however you can hear hear it all over the Beatles records uh mostly the drums and when you do that with the universal audio plugins and you you hear it you can hear what it's done to The Beatles recordings it's familiar um so that's my reference to it that's why you know I could probably pick it out if you uh If you smacked your drums with it I I think I could pick it out like if I had a couple samp to pick from it it it does a specific very pleasing thing in fact I I'm pretty sure it's the compressor I think the Beatles also had some sort of alte compressor but it's what they use mostly for compression um so so yeah Heritage audio from Spain this company I've got one of their pieces of gear that's broken right now we'll talk about that in a minute they've put out the 670 in a 500 series it looks like they're not going to do the 660 just the 670 so I think this thing comes out to about Canadian with tax about 2,700 to three grand somewhere in there what this video is going to do what's it going to say here that's loud woo too loud sounds like Jurassic Park is the dinosaur from Jurassic Park coming what does this have to do with recording drums oh here it comes oh it went over there I don't understand this ad where's soury Weaver military grade tubes just in case someone shoots it with a tank the Russians shoot it with a [Music] tank the fair child for the rest of us that ad was ridiculous I don't understand what just happened what what that's great they let the director of aliens 5 uh direct their hair Fairchild ad anyway it's kind of cool this is coming out I would love to smack some drums with this thing love love love it so they've got the 500 series and then where's the other thing here uh we've got the uh let me go back a page see if I can find it oh I'll go to rack mount there it is the hair child 670 so that'd be even more fun you know because it's going to be a a bit bigger bigger knobs than the 500 Series so and yeah so if you're not if you're not grabbing Heritage audio's uh version there are a few other emulations out there right now top of my head I don't want to name any but uh I think Manley does one I think and I think there may be a Stam so here we over at Sweet Water so it's a two grand us I believe that's the US price no reviews yet it's pretty new bunch of other Heritage stuff down here so my big problem with this though like this was on my wish list like I said I'd love to smack some drums with this and I would know if it was doing the thing or not you know I've heard Ringo's drums enough uh I've listened to the White Album 5,000 times I've I've heard Beatles tracks separated enough I know and I've got the universal audio uh Fair child emulation like I know the thing that it does the the very pleasing smooshy compression that it does so if this thing's the real you know if the emulation comes close or is the real deal I'll hear it I'll know it I'll be able to pick it out my problem is I have the Heritage audio 73 first edition this is the second edition I'm just going to hit this play really quick I I just want to see if this one looks like a Jurassic Park aliens 5 commercial oh we're going to play some acoustic music that's a little more there we go even sounds like the 70s H it's a much more sensible commercial than uh this Batman commercial here oh here it comes here it comes I just can't resist why do we fall down Mr Wayne to I can't do the Bane voice I think you'll find it's time to die do like what is this oh here it comes oh where are you going where are you going oh bye bye where is it now oh there it is again it's obviously two different advertising companies that put these ads together all right uh why I won't buy this so I have this but I have the first version It's currently broken I've reached out to Heritage audio they're in Spain so they can't help me which doesn't make any sense because I can get things to Spain I could mail it Canada Post UPS pure leader I could get on an airplane and I could go to Spain it's not out of the question but they won't help me so I paid $1,400 Canadian with tax for this thing I used it for an hour or two and it is now broken and I can't get any help and they've uh sent me to A rad distributor whoever that is some distributor in the States called rad they shove me off to somebody else who won't get a hold of me but it just comes back to this Heritage audio won't help me they won't support it so are you going to make an investment $33,000 investment when there's no support there's no parts so far there's no service schematic so far what are you going to do you going to be in you're going to be in the same boat I am right just don't work you're out of warranty you're a year out what are you going to do he just going to burn he's going to burn for that money so yeah no it's a concern it's a big concern so we'll see what these guys do and uh anyway thanks for watching I'm going to leave you with uh Dark Souls 4 here we go this
