good day and welcome to the video in this spooky installment I shall be making the witch king of agar's badass helmet from The Lord of the Rings trilogy truth be told I had already made this helmet for Halloween back in 2016 but I decided to revisit it for this year's Halloween costume as I know I can do a lot better now these are the templates I shall be using I've had some comments on previous videos asking where people can find my templates and to answer that question nowhere yet my plan is to set up a patreon where people can subscribe to access the templates whenever I make new ones for now I'm just waiting till I have accumul ated more designs before I released them to the public but thank you for showing interest using the sheet of 6 mm thick EVA foam I transfer the patterns across taking up as little space as [Music] possible then with my Sharp box cutter I cut out each of the three parts with Surgical [Music] [Music] precision [Music] [Music] with the different parts cut out I then had to transfer what I could assume was a dragon wing design onto the two side of face pieces and then add some random lines that to make up the [Music] headband now continuing to the outdoors where the harsh British Autumn time will freeze your off I start this process using my Dremel with a sanding bit going around all the edges to clean them [Music] up [Music] once the edges were SP and span I used a small grinding bit to carve out a v-shaped Groove along all the lines I drew on before [Music] four the purpose of the grooves were to Mark out where I wanted to fold the foam in on itself cre a sharp line on the front side I went along super gluing a length at a time to hold the shape for the two side parts of the helmet I added an extra 2 mm thick piece of EVA foam to the headband to add some extra thickness before harshly folding it in on itself and gluing some more with this piece I am careful as to not glue my fingers to the foam as well speaking of which I'm fairly confident in saying that everyone has at least one superglue themed story they remember from their childhood comment below what yours is and whilst you're down there give us a cheeky like And subscribe if you like what you see and want to see more with all the seams glued and my fingers not stuck together I pull out my industrial hair dryer using the intense heat to flatten the foam pieces so when it cools down it keeps its [Music] shape now that all the pieces are ready to be assembled it was time to assemble them I started by applying contact cement to the two side of face p pieces and used a gloved finger to spread the cement evenly along the contact [Music] points I left the cement to dry for 30 seconds before forcing the two pieces together in holy matrimony next I use some more heat to curve the headband into a typical headband shape before attaching the big spiky piece which I am recessing back by 2 mm to the [Music] headband off camera I sliced the two connections to the nose in half to make them thinner and less protrusive which looked way better after that I run a hot glue gun along the folds on on the inside to strengthen [Music] them for the next and most tedious part of the build I had to conjure up 14 spiky horns out of thin air as there was nothing like what I needed already pre-made for me online so I bit the bullet and used some old 10 mm thick foam floor mats to cut out these pairs of rectangles with various lengths which I then cement [Music] together to shape the horns I first drew a circle to Mark the thickness and then used my Dremel to sculpt the horns even though I was outside I still wore a respirator as this kicked up a ton of dust that I didn't want knocking several years off the end of my [Music] life once carved a pair of horns one large and one small I used my heat gun to blast the horns causing the pores in the foam to close doing this also left a splintering bone texture which was a nice unintentional added [Music] detail next using my horn chart that I created all by myself I cut the individual horns at an angle depending on where they would be attached around the helmet so that they would point point in the right direction then the larger and smaller horns are glued together as a [Music] pair after repeating this seven [Music] times The Next Step was to create the illusion that the new horns were always one solid piece for this I used foam clay to cover up and bulken up the base of the horns [Music] then I use some water to feather the clay up the horns and remove any fingerprints now to attach the horns to the helmet I use some Gorilla Glue to initially attach the [Music] horns then I caress the clay down towards the helmet and using a silicone sculpting tool I created a seamless [Music] appearance I left the clay to dry overnight and then moved on to painting and [Music] texturing for the initial layers of color I used this Plasti Dip spray paint to Prime the foam black ready for texturing I repeated this one more time [Music] afterwards [Music] once that was dry I had to make the texture of the helmet feel and look rough and hammered I came up with this brilliant idea of using decorator's CK to apply a generous layer of paste to the helmet hoping it would all work out [Applause] fine after using my finger to spread the paste not too thinly [Music] around I then go over the paste again with a wet finger to smooth the surface trust the process it'll be worth it I left the paste dry briefly while I coated the other [Music] side then while the paste was still wet I used a flat bowl of aluminium foil to vigorously dab the surface thus creating a rough scaly and wrinkly texture which I was so proud of I repeated the whole process for the rest of the helmet only using a thin layer of paste to coat the horns the helmet was left dry overnight and by this point I only had one day left to complete the helmet before Halloween so in the morning I took the helmet outside to add some battle damage to add lots of Sword slices across R cross the helmet I used a soldering iron with a knife head [Music] [Music] [Music] attachment [Music] I then later added some Rust damage in the form of large corroded holes now it's time to paint the helmet its main color for this layer of paint I use a silver chrome spray paint I just found randomly on my junk shelf which worked [Music] perfectly only had just enough paint to finish the one coating but this was enough I left the paint to dry for a few hours too soon in a rush to get it finished before returning indoors to add more paint the next layer of color needed to dull the shine of the Chrome and give the helmet a dark Sinister metallic appearance to accomplish this I'm using black acrylic paint mixed with water which I applied using this sponge brush I painted a section of the helmet at a time so I was more in control when it came to the dark wash drying before I could go back over using a second sprunge brush to spread the color more consistently [Music] throughout after completing this step I'd run out of time to get the helmet completely finished before Halloween so I wore the helmet as you see it now to work and it was pretty successful now that Halloween was over I was determined to get the helmet finished ready for next year the next part of painting was to mix brown yellow and red acrylic paints in a cup with some water this created a light brown mix completely by accident which I then painted over the helmet before the brown wash had too much time to Dr dry I used a paper towel to dab away most of the wet paint until I was satisfied with how filthy I wanted the witch King to [Music] be for the last step I use silver paint along with a taped up brush to lightly apply some highlight to the peaks of the wrinkles using a dry brushing technique I also added a thicker battering of dry brushing to the ends of the horns because it looked [Music] good the helmet is now finished and ready for Halloween 20124 to end things off it's time for everyone's favorite part of the video the Showcase [Music] [Applause] 7 [Music] [Music] oh [Music] thank you for watching let me
