I’m Lucie Fink. I’m a video producer at Refinery29. But every so often I like to try other people’s jobs. Today I’m at Dō Cookie Dough Confections and I’m going to see if I have what it takes to make my very own cookie dough flavor. This is Lucie for Hire. I’ve always loved cookie dough and I really wanted to create a place where cookie dough was the star. It was safe to eat. It was bakeable. It come in all sorts of fun flavors. It was all about cookie dough for me. These are my dough scooping muscles. Dō is one of the hottest dessert shops in New York City right now. Locals and tourists from all around the world are lining up daily, sometimes for hours at a time, just to get a scoop of this sweet edible cookie dough. Let’s dō it. Your first challenge is to pick your base. Sugar cookie. Okay so you have so many options. Kristen let me taste all six of the bases that they offer: sugar cookie. Brownie batter. Cake batter. Wow! Signature. Oatmeal. Oh my gosh! And peanut butter. It hit me. I strategically left a little bit on each spoon. So that I can go back. I finally picked my base. I think I’m going sugar cookie. Sugar cookie. We chose it! Your second challenge is to invent the flavor. When we come up with flavors, we think about our favorite candies, our favorite toppings, what is kind of nostalgic to you. I love to make something that brings me back. Yeah. So I’m trying to think about what I ate in the 90s. Chips ahoy. Gushers. Let’s make Dunkaroos! Oh my god that’ll be so good. Do you have a Dunkaroo flavor? I think we can make one. Okay. We’re making a Dunkaroo flavor. This is it. Dunkaroos were one of my favorite childhood snacks. Graham cookies dunked in delicious, fluffy frosting. So we pulled out all of the necessary ingredients and got ready to create. Your third challenge is to make the dough. We made the dough by mixing butter. You can turn it up a little bit higher. Sugar and our wet ingredients. So this is vanilla? Vanilla. Pure vanilla. And our pasteurized egg. So our egg is one of the things that makes our cookie dough unique. Obviously everyone says, “Oh you can get sick from eggs. Don’t eat raw cookie dough.” Our eggs are pasteurized. So that means it goes through a heat process, which kills any potential bacteria. And then adding in our dry ingredients. Our dry ingredients that we put in first to completely incorporate. So this is going to be our sea salt, our baking soda, baking powder, and two other secret family recipes that I can’t tell you. So this is probably going to make about three pounds. Perfect. One serving. Once it was mixed to perfection, we spooned it into a bowl to add our toppings. Okay just all in? You can do just as much as you want. You probably don’t need all of that. Yeah that’s probably good. You can always add more at the end. We mixed in rainbow sprinkled dust, honey grahams… You ready for the frosting? Yeah. … and folded in vanilla frosting. Around… 9 o’clock. How’s it look? So swirly! Your final challenge is to taste test. This is not a hard challenge. Oh man. It tastes just like Dunkaroos! Yay! That’s the point, right? Mmhmm. It was only 10a.m. but the line outside was already in full swing. So I decided to make everybody’s day and give them a taste of my new flavor. It’s really good. We’re about to bring our Dunkaroo cookie dough and our Teddy Grahams outside to people in line. So I made a Dunkaroo cookie dough if you want to dip. 9. 10. Oh! A 10. Yeah. So this is Dunkaroo cookie dough. Oh childhood memories! Mmmm. I think McKayla will gives us the most honest opinion, right? Delicious. How is it? Good? I think that now that we get this, we’ll go inside and get something different. I don’t know if this is on sale. So how’d I do? You did great. Yeah? Yeah! You’re hired. I got like five people saying they wanted to buy it today. It was a definite success. Cheers to success! All in all it was an awesome experience to be a part of something that is taking the dessert world by storm. Oh my gosh it’s so good. Today really brought back some amazing childhood cookie dough memories. And if you’re ever in New York, do not forget to add this place to your to-do list. I mean, your to-dō list. Hey, Youtube!
