I got to try the Citroen Ami!

I'm not gonna lie it does bring a smile to your face and we've gotten more attention than this than we did when we drew up the taikan we're in the Citra and Amy I'm Luke and welcome to another episode let's get things straight while it may be disguised as a car this is not a car this is an electric quadricycle and our first that we're seeing on the channel so Citron have found a way to go back to basics to get rid of all the luxuries we've come to expect and focus on the basic core principles but make no mistake this is a Citroen at heart and it stays true to the current brand and slogan which is inspired by you well it's inspired by a future of Electric Mobility compactness in our very dense city streets and simplicity at its best so this isn't one of my standard Tick reviews but you can't ignore the tech in vehicles nowadays so let's see a bit what we have here in the Ami so 5.4 usable kilowatt hour battery powering an electric asynchronous motor delivering eight horsepower which drives this vehicle up to a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour now I know it won't satisfy the petrol heads but for everyone else who knows our average speed here remote is just 30 kilometers per hour then this is going to be quite a practical vehicle and the cool part about the Ami and let me just show you this is the charging so it's a four hour charge on a normal three pin socket of which The Wire is actually held right here um in this area here and just pull out the wire basically we have an adapter for Malta so normal three pin plug you just plug it in like any other Appliance four hours of charge gives you 75 kilometers of range and the best part a full charge on the Emmy you just get the cable in it's the Euro cents full charge 75 kilometers so this car is very very compact particularly on the outside in fact I've calculated you can fit three citro and Emmys in a traditional Maltese parking space and Maltese parking spaces are notoriously very small compared to every other city in the world now while it is a small car inside it's actually very very roomy there's even place for a friend right here as a with a passenger seat which you can also just replace for a cargo option just dump a whole bunch of cargo in this half of the vehicle visibility honestly Second To None because you can look all the way around it's glass all the way around and even above with this amazing panoramic roof the mirrors I I would have hoped for a bit better but it the the glass all around does kind of make up for the for the mirrors there's actually no rear view mirror you got to use the side mirrors but in reality um the car is so narrow that you probably don't even need a rear view mirror to begin with but I would have liked the mirrors to be a bit wider but I guess they want to keep everything a bit compact here so let me talk to you a bit about this interior cabin space switch to the GoPro here so it's very basic and that's what you want it to be in such a car so I have a little instrument cluster over here basically speed how much range you have on the battery uh what gear you're in so like neutral drive or reverse which is actually selected from from down here so very simple it's got a traditional handbrake as you can see a lot of storage you'll go on my bags here and some nice um space to store more stuff over here and on the other side is with us these bins over here as well more storage you can hang things over here now there's no call it a infotainment system right they've got this um clip for your phone basically and your phone does everything else USB Hazard yeah so there's the second seat and there's some more space back here behind the the seats and a key so traditional key you just turn it it actually comes with two keys as you can see and once for the ignition once for the outside so they're different keys this is the button I used to to pair the app so they have an official me app which you pair with the car and that sits over here and that can't get to your Google Maps and all that stuff and there's a space over here for like a Bluetooth speaker there's no speakers built into the car here's that nice sunroof with this shade which I spoke about as well earlier and that's really it there are the mirrors great visibility as we said so look at that those are the mirrors you just with your hand and the windows here basically they've got this folding design and this is how you'd go about closing it and it clips and then I'd open it as so and push a bit more to lock that's dammy from the inside basically so who's this vehicle for it's something I've been pondering because it's definitely a niche right and basically what I think I've come up with I think it's a it's definitely going to be a great cargo vehicle so you can actually replace the seat over here tight fit but we're true you can actually replace the seat with a cargo option and you can store quite a lot of stuff actually over here it's a quite a big space even height wise bottle another bottle so I think this is actually going to make a good vehicle for students who are going to be making the five kilometer trip to University because it's small it's ideal it's not going to give you an issue parking here because you can fit it almost anywhere and cheap to run 60 cents a charge 75 kilometers and the monthly payments cheaper than a stipend there you go I think it's also a good vehicle for someone who wants that second Mobility option to do the shopping you know and not have to deal with especially if you live in like slim of a letter one of the old towns cgu is a booch I mean those are small narrow roads which let me tell you this is ideal for so I think that's where this Niche lies for the Emmy not a very popular segment of vehicles here in mosa but let me tell you you're as fast as all the rest of the traffic anyway even with less horsepower so let's talk a bit about the price point so this car starts at 9 800 Euros at the time of recording this video but there is a 2 000 Euros cash back Grant besides that there's a further 1 000 Euro scrapping so it's 3 000 Euros of the list or showroom price which means six thousand eight hundred euros for our gods and Friends there's a further one thousand Euros if you register this vehicle in kodo so six thousand eight hundred euros or a 71 Euro monthly repayment scheme which as I said for students that's less than a stipend so you could be driving to UNI paying less than your stipend in the Citroen Ami now if there was ever a candidate for Pimp My Ride the Citra and Emmy definitely fits the build because they designed this car to be pimped in fact it comes in just one standard color this is gray and any other color you've seen online or in pictures is actually a car wrapped version of the original gray and here are a few I found online including the small tease render which I'd really love to see on the roads now you may have noticed in fact also that the doors open um against each other so one opens normally and one opens the other way sometimes called the suicide door and they are a mirror image of each other making customization more easy and making the parts more economical but also more environmentally friendly in that way because there isn't a separate mold and all this this stuff it's very simple front and back panel also exactly the same again helps with customization etc etc so I'm really looking forward to see what people do and customize to their Citron Ami and if you've customized it leave a comment below and maybe link
