I Bought A Wrecked Truck And Fixed It In One day

what's going on guys so we just got back from the Salvage Auction we actually just picked up a new truck build and I think you guys are gonna like this one this is a 2018 F-150 as you guys know we did have a ram in the past and after we got that thing rebuilt my brother actually needed it to start his own business and I kind of just sold it to him basically what I had in it and gave him a good deal and he's been using it ever since and I really needed a truck because as you can see it's quite a mess over here at the shop and we need something to haul stuff off and we need something to haul cars so we went ahead and scooped this thing up this is a 2018 F-150 and it's just hit right here in the front I mean it doesn't look too bad just by looking at it we just picked it up from Knoxville wasn't too far I didn't really feel much over there because sometimes auctions don't really like it but we're gonna go ahead and get this thing unloaded off the trailer so far it looks like a pretty good truck all right we're gonna have to just drive it right off get these straps out of here foreign just slide it off if I put like a wheel Dolly right here and then just drive it clean off the trailer so we got the truck jacked up in the air and what we're gonna do right now is basically clamp this brake line off right here because all the fluid is on add a little bit of brake fluid get the rear brakes working and then put this little toe Dolly right here right under there just like that and then we can slowly drive it off and then I think that's good I think we'll put it just on there like that strap it down too yeah so we're gonna go ahead and put that under there we're gonna clamp this off pump the brakes a little bit and hopefully we can get this thing off though I reckon into the shop real quick get some brake fluid in here I have a good battery though we did start it at the auction all right uh you want to go in there and just pump the brakes a little bit hey look at that EcoBoost uh yeah go ahead and start pumping him are they getting harder [Music] all right so we got it full of brake fluid it's not leaking out of there so we should have brakes now yeah yeah that's a little quick hack right there you just clamp it off and you got brakes now and then we just put the truck on the roller dollar right here drive it right look at this Ford made in China oh come on hey put um put the block of wood underneath it no I think just do it keep it at level height yeah we could do that double with everything else yeah easy sir quick yeah we don't want this thing going right through that wall over there she's talking now yep yeah I didn't gotta be that tight all right so we got that strapped up now I think we will throw another safety strap just like to the to the to the back just so this thing doesn't the brakes give out so check it out we got the truck set up on this little rolly Dolly right here and we're just gonna slowly back it all the way up and hopefully nothing goes wrong so check it out we got the truck off the train I gotta say it was pretty hard especially with the entire spindle missing and no wheel here on the driver's side we kind of just use that rolly Dolly strapped into the control arm rolled it off and then once we got to the end of the ramps we had to redo it and it was pretty sketchy it almost stopped the trailer at one point but I gotta say these trucks and cars that have suspension damage they usually go for a lot cheaper than if it did have an entire suspension just by the fact of how hard it is to move this truck around like let's say if you put it on a semi truck and I mean you wouldn't really be able to take it off without a forklift and most of the time people just don't want to deal with that so you get a really good deal I mean looking here in the damage we have a upper control arm we need to replace lower control arm and probably the inner and outer tie rod I'm pretty sure the shock is still good nothing looks damaged that is a rough country leveling kit I think maybe like a 2-3 inch so that's pretty nice and then all the wires everything's good it's pretty weird how Ford does it these wires pretty much just clip onto the fender liner and they kind of just hang in there and I did notice they did Mark this right here a little bit of dots I don't know if the frame is bent or what's going on here but I guess we'll have to see once we put the new suspension on and see how it drives maybe put on the frame pull it out just a little bit I mean it kind of looks like it just bumped it nothing too serious going on under here but now let's go ahead and check out all the parts we have in the bag [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] so check it out we got all the parts out of the back of the truck and I'm just super happy with all the parts that are here I mean we do have a little bit of damage on the front bumper right here which we will have to get a new one but the cool thing is that State Farm actually usually they throw all the parts back into the truck or the car because there's still a lot of good parts here don't get me wrong all the bolts and all the brackets on this bumper right here it can add up to hundreds of dollars I mean look at this lower balance is probably still good I know the top one is ripped but just for instance like the all these bolts right here and everything uh sometimes they'll just take the car apart throw all the bolts away and you'll be stuck looking at the junkyard for new bolts but hey we got all that then coming around here we got the fender liner it is a little bit ripped up I'm gonna have to just go ahead and order a new one although maybe this one could be used I know it's it's kind of toast you can see all the mounting points are ripped off there's no point of using that and then we have a piece of the fender which is weird they just ripped it clean off they just literally ripped it clean in half but they left me this little inside piece right here which is nice and then we have a bag of lug nuts right here check that out you gotta appreciate stuff like that and then a little bag of bolts right here which is super awesome because I mean going to the junkyard and finding all random bolts is just so time consuming but that's good that we have it and then we also have our spindle right here you can see with the lower ball joint kind of just popped out and then it just cracked the top of it off so I mean it doesn't look like it was too big of an impact honestly I mean you would think that the spindle would be like broken in half but it's really just a little bit at the top a little bit at the bottom not too bad we still have a good brake caliper maybe a good rotor we will definitely have to get a new inner and outer tie rod for that but I'm really happy about this Grille right here because this thing right here is about 500 this is the OEM I think it's the STX Grille but not only that but it does have the active shutters inside as you can see right there check that out all the shutters look good we have two plugs right here and I think this is for the temperature sensor and that's probably why the check engine light is on in the truck because there's no temperature sensor but hey check that out all it needs to do is get painted just have a couple of scratches right here and I think it does have a little bit more right here from just sitting inside the back of the bed and we also have the little bezel right there and that thing also is gonna need a little bit of paint on the edges just to get it back to OEM and then the headlight over here I thought this thing was good in the pictures but it turns out it does have a hole right there big old hole but the good thing these headlights are really cheap it's just a really basic standard truck but I'm just super happy because I mean Grill four or five hundred dollars the piece is like 200 Breakout for about 100 probably and then the bumper brackets are like 60 70 books a pop so I mean you do save a lot of money when they leave all the parts in the truck and you kind of get a general idea of exactly what you need to replace so just remember that next time you're buying a crocus Savage auction and it is taken apart like this make sure it has all the parts because if not you're gonna be because if not you're gonna be sitting at the junkyard taking off random parts and trying to piece it back together and it is such a nightmare so now that we went over all the parts now let's do a little deeper dive into this truck it's basically a 2018 F-150 STX it does have the 2.7 liter ecoboost engine with the black interior and honestly I like Ford's a lot better than the ram that we used to own but this thing does have like apple play it does have the center console the ram didn't have that and it's like a much better feel inside although it doesn't have a push button start but check that out starts right up everything's good to go there's no fluid leaking nothing I mean this thing is a nice shark and it doesn't have any airbags blown inside which is nice because honestly not having to do with airbags is just so nice because I mean think about it airbag 300 modules seat belts uh sometimes the Buckle will blow up and it's just a nightmare and I'm just glad that this one doesn't have any airbags balloon but it runs good it does have a check engine light and traction control light and the traction control light is because of the suspension you can see the wires are completely ripped off the ABS sensor but that's okay because we do have a new one coming on the way and check this out we got a little oh luxury in here not too much luxury honestly it doesn't really matter it's a nice little truck and I'm just going to be using it on the daily I didn't really want to sell my Dodge Ram but my brother needed a truck a little bit more than me at the time and I was like you know what help me finish it get it painted and I'll let you have it for what I have in it so I gave him a really good deal on it and he's been using it ever since honestly I like Ford's a lot better I've drove the 2-7 I've driven the two seven before and honestly I like it more than a V8 and these things supposedly get some pretty good A fuel economy let's see 16 17 miles to a gallon I mean it's not too bad inside here I just like the way they look inside maybe we'll get some leather and have a nice Hammer right there but yeah check that out all the windows are tinted which is nice we'll have to spend any money on getting them tinted so guys that's the inside of the truck and the outside I mean basically just this little left corner is the only thing damaged on this truck the entire other side is literally in perfect condition has a pretty nice leveling kit already on it it does have those running boards which I'll probably just leave them on there because it's just nice you know just stepping up into the truck I'm getting pretty old no I'm just kidding but yeah check this thing out no damage anywhere basically just a light front end impact it's honestly kind of like my Mustang you know very light impact which is kind of what I want to start doing I'm kind of sick of just trying to rebuild like these destroyed cars that are beat everywhere up and you have to just spend so much time energy and money and it doesn't really make sense at the end of the day but anyways guys let's go ahead and get started on working on this truck so now it's time to go and start working on this truck we do have a full new suspension and usually I like to just go ahead and grab an entire suspension set up just like this right here this one came from Knox Auto Parts and check it out it has a leveling kit already on it but honestly I don't think our shock is bad so we're gonna go ahead and just Swap this entire system onto there take this shock off use that original shock because it is a lift kit and then we also have our inner and outer tire rod right here brand spanking new we're gonna go ahead and slap it on there get everything installed and get this thing driving unfortunately though the brake line is on back order from the Ford dealership I think they're talking about next month so we'll have to go to the junkyard and possibly find a used one so let's go ahead and swap the bad suspension out with the new suspension [Music] everything [Music] [Music] thank you so we got the front control arm off and as you guys seen as soon as I loosened it up it was very loose and it really came out of there with barely any pressure that basically just means that nothing was under pressure here and this right here is probably not bent at all now what we're going to do is go ahead and replace this inner and outer tie rod since we do have a lot of clearance in here before we put on the new spindle [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] and check that out bent it right there in just a little bit cracked it right there and I was able to turn the steering wheel pretty easy so I don't think anything's damaged internally so now we have our new one right here go ahead and pop it open [Applause] bad boy out and it does already have some Loctite on there so we won't have to add any more this off and let's go ahead and install it [Music] there we go and there we go [Music] good so we got the inner and outer tie rod installed and we kind of just basically mocked it up exactly how the factory one was as you can see it's kind of pointed out obviously when we do alignment we'll get 100 perfect but now let's go ahead and drop on the rest of the suspension we need to remove this upper control arm right here and also remove this Old Wire this is from the ABS sensor and I'm pretty sure that's why the check it or the ABS light is on so it should be a pretty super simple fix so let's go ahead and slap it on the new suspension [Music] foreign [Music] problems [Music] [Music] so we got the truck sitting on the ground and everything looks good and check it out here's all the parts we have to replace there's a lower control arm we got the inner tire rod the upper control arm the sensor and this is the original shock that came with the new suspension honestly I don't think we needed it because this is a Rough Country lift but it is kind of weird if you can see look how that control arm is sitting I don't know if that's supposed to be like that or if you're supposed to have an upper control arm with these shocks so we're definitely have to dive into that a little bit deeper I'm doing some research on it and maybe we'll get a different rough country list because I don't know if that's right right there I mean it's like almost it's not touching the shock right here but it almost is and that's kind of weird and it does sit a little bit higher in the front I don't know why maybe it's just sitting like this on a hill or what's going on but the front sits way too freaking High I don't really like that I need it a little lower but yeah pretty much got everything knocked out in the front only thing we don't have is that brake line right there which we are gonna have to go to the junkyard and pick one up because you know the dealer has a back order for I think it's like a month I don't know how they have a back order for brake lines I mean you put them on every single truck they make anyways uh we do have a little bit of damage on this door right here which we are gonna attempt to fix but I don't know if that's gonna be like if it's even gonna work because this is an aluminum door if it was steel we could have just put some pins right here pulled it all out you can't really just put the steel pins on this door so I think once we go to the junkyard to look for that brake line we'll go ahead and probably scoop up a new door and you can see how the paint doesn't really match up I don't know what's going on here this door has been repainted or not but look at that right there but it doesn't really matter because we will be blending both of these doors once we get it to paint so it's the next day here at the shop and it turns out O'Reilly's actually had that brake line in stock they have a pretty big O'Reilly's over here by us and now we're gonna go ahead and replace it we can actually remove our vice grip that was just holding the brake line shut we also got some brake fluid right here for heavy duty high temp formula we're gonna go ahead and get these brakes bled and get this thing running and driving good so let's go ahead and put this new brake line on so we got the brake line installed and now we're gonna go ahead and pour some fluid in there and what I like to do since I am by myself right now is I basically just unscrewed the bleeding nipple right here and we're gonna fill it up pump it a couple times and lock it in place and it should be good to go and then later when I have one of my friends over here we can just bleed it really good but let's go ahead and add some more food into here all right let's go ahead and crank this thing up and bleed the brakes guys they're getting a little bit harder even though the bleeding screw is open but we're just going to push all that air out of there we'll probably need about four or five pumps and now let's go ahead and tighten it up I'll tell you good but yeah so we got it tightened up and now let's see these breaks now they're really hard check that out that's how you do it then later on once I get one of my friends we can actually do the whole bleeding procedure and the brakes will be much better so now that we got the suspension all nice and fixed up we're gonna go ahead and pull this thing inside and start test fitting our new Fender that we have back there in the trunk so let's get this thing inside the shop dude it is so hot out here about four tough so we got the truck inside and here is our new Defender we actually bought it from the dealership because it was actually cheaper from the dealership than a aftermarket one from China which is pretty cool because I mean dealer Fitness is always better let's go ahead and open this bad boy up oh man check that out I don't know why it has a three on it is that three I don't know what that is but the fender does look good now let's go ahead and test fit her on the truck make sure everything fits and I also have a headlight and then we can put the front grille back on and just line everything up [Music] so we got the fender on our truck and now it's time to go ahead and test fit this driver side headlight I did have to straighten this bracket out here I probably will order a new one or just touch this one up it is Aluminum so it won't rust either way but let's go ahead and try out this headlight right here and then we'll put on the grill and see how everything lines up in the front foreign [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] thank you [Music] so guys check it out we got the entire front end all back together and the reason why I'm putting this truck all together is I did actually win a trailer on Copart and we have to go pick it up and I definitely don't want to be borrowing anybody's truck so we basically put everything together and it's pretty good because now I know exactly what parts were missing and the only Parts I'm missing right now is there's a little bracket that goes right here that was a little broken and it basically just holds this balance to the body just like that right there and that's pretty much it I have a fog light so I pretty much have everything I need after we paint this truck we'll obviously put that together but honestly I thought I could probably save this door but I don't think that's gonna happen I think we're gonna have to just replace this door right here that's why we're gonna just go ahead in put it together and make the road trip to go get the trailer but right now what I want to do is go ahead and use the string right here and we're gonna do some alignment on here basically just to drive it over to the tire shop because I can't see that the wheel is kind of pointing out this way I don't know if you can tell or you can tell a little bit but this side is perfectly straightened that one isn't so we're going to use the string we're basically going to tie it up in the back and basically make a giant square around the truck and get it lined up so we can take it to alignment [Music] [Music] so we just got done with the alignment now you can see the string is touching on the front and the back on the tire and the same thing in the back and then it's also the same thing on the passenger side so the wheels are perfectly straight I mean I don't know how perfect they actually are we'll definitely have to do a full alignment on it later but now what I want to do we're going to go ahead and remove this line take that away I want to actually scan it and clear all the codes on the truck because as you guys know we did have a check engine light and an ABS light so let's go ahead and plug this thing up and man that fourth time is annoying let's see right here all right now let's do a little scan and we're just going to basically scan everything that one code for the ABS party control module so we have a couple of codes right now and I'm just gonna go ahead and clear everything and basically just see what comes back no fault codes oh sweet everything is going away and there we have it guys not a single code on this truck and that was just basically from the ABS sensor that was unplugged and then the front grille shutter was unplugged but now we have no codes on everything is good to go so now we got the truck all back together I want to go ahead and give this thing a nice test drive there's no check engine lights there's nothing like that we went ahead and did the alignment got everything back together it looks really good so let's go hop in it and give this sucker a test drive yeah the alignment is that's not the best it's not bad look at that um it's pretty straight actually so the brakes are pretty good too they'll definitely need to be pumped a lot more hey it's driving pretty good so far I don't know why the AC is not as cold as I thought it would be maybe it just needs to be recharged or something I'm sitting at the auction hey drives good alignment is a little crooked look at that I really do like cars where they're not hit too hard and you can basically drive them in the next day I mean I've been working on this car truck probably for like Towers already I mean it's near done all we're gonna need to do is give this thing a nice little paint job that's it I'm gonna try to fix this aluminum door over here but if we can't we'll have to just get a new one either a new one or a used one we want to see what the prices are it's always good to just you know find the best bargain that you can yeah the truck is driving good everything's nice and it does have apple carplay which is pretty cool the install any aftermarket things into there and this is the 2-7 EcoBoost I mean it's pretty powerful I mean it is it's not a dog I'll tell you that for sure you know and I was actually looking at some tunes maybe put a little tune on it and it'll be a nice little truck to just tow cars with and stuff so there it is guys the truck drives absolutely amazing even though we did the alignment with the string and then I pumped the brakes by myself so I'm gonna have to get somebody to help me do it a little bit better I mean the brakes aren't bad right now but hey it looks really good and now we just need to order a couple more things and sand this bad boy down and paint it up I think I'm gonna paint this car also because as you guys remember I did paint my Ford Mustang and it turned out really good so we're definitely going to try something bigger here I mean this is probably going to be maybe the hood I might have to do a blend from the hood onto the fender this little piece right here and then obviously the bumper and it kind of sucks this girl was not bad at all but it turns out whenever they left it at the auction they just threw it around and scratched it up I mean at least they didn't break anything on it so that's good and then for the door back here we're gonna attempt to fix it if we can't fix it we'll go ahead and get a new one and then we'll have to blend onto this rear door right here so about one two three four five six seven panels we do have to paint so about seven panels we do have to paint so it'll definitely be a fun one be a little bit of a bigger project than just one quarter panel and yeah and I do have a new Rim at the other shop this one is a little scratched although I don't know if it's damaged or not I did just go ahead and buy a new one and we will definitely need some new tires here soon these michelins have seen better days I mean everything looks good under there got the brake line installed ABS line all that good stuff is completely done and there's really no issues no engine lights or anything like that on the truck it's really nice when you buy cars that aren't hit that bad because you know at the end of the day you didn't really have to replace much parts so there's not much things that could go wrong I mean the only thing that's not OEM is the headlight everything else is at OEM so that's pretty good and it also obviously has the Rough Country lift and it's a pretty good looking truck honestly the stx's look pretty good STS package and I mean looking on the driver's side we won't really have to paint anything here maybe touch up some rims because somebody car brashed them a little bit but anyways guys that's gonna be a wrap for today's video and if you're wondering why I kind of put this whole truck together because we are gonna go pick up a new trailer that actually won on the salvage auction for like 150 bucks you guys are probably gonna like that video so we just slap this thing together and we're gonna take this thing down to Knoxville we're gonna just probably do alignment first and then head down to Knoxville it's not too far away and we're gonna just tow it with this truck and it's gonna be good to go and we needed a truck because we do have quite the mess going on here at the shop it's kind of hard to throw stuff away you gotta like hire somebody and there's no time to do
