hello everyone and welcome back to prestige reef now in the last video i promised you three things and all three of those i did not deliver the first is that i will give you an update on system two the second is that i will give you an update on the acapura in sister wait wait one second how did i do this wait it says system one yeah almost point oh yeah system one yeah there you go um and thirdly i said that mindy was here now as you can see mindy is not currently in the room uh there is a possibility she will show up you know she kind of does what she wants uh but it's raining outside so it's very unlikely that you'll see her because minnie does not come in here when it's raining so anyway let's get started with uh system two i guess right so system two the first thing uh to point out is that system two is having a slight bacterial bloom now this isn't unusual uh in tanks where uh there's no live rock so the only bacteria in here came out of a bottle and obviously from anything any bacteria which is on the corals or the fish now i will be completely honest with you because that's what this is this is what this is about uh this system is not doing brilliantly and it's mostly my own fault if i'm completely honest these were the frags which i originally put in as you can see i've got a little sale in here a little desjardins sale thing which at the moment remains nameless so if you want to put a uh your suggestion of what to call them in the comments section below i'll let you know in the next video now the reason these corals aren't doing very well is because i did what probably lots of people do and i assumed something about this hobby and that was a bad idea they are growing still it's interesting because actually growing onto the plugs but they just don't look that healthy now the reason i look at healthy is because i have essentially ignored this system so obviously i've got a lot going on in my life at the moment and uh there's obviously quite a few changes and i assumed that with this system being 2200 liters that i would essentially be able to put those frags in and just ignore it and they wouldn't and that none of the parameters would change because obviously there's a very very tiny bio load so i couldn't imagine that the k should be dropping in the calcium in our clarity now i was so wrong i'm not entirely sure why i'm wrong i'm always happy to admit if i'm not sure uh but the reason i am not sure is because the alkalinity dropped to 6.8 that for me is very strange because there's nothing in here absorbing the alkalinity so why would that happen and i think i've worked out with regards to these little white specks so these little white specks are some sort of crustacean they are basically everywhere across all the frag racks and across the back of the tanks they're far more prevalent in this tank than they are uh in system one and i think that's probably because they are essentially becoming the dominant species of micro fauna in this tank as you can see it's all over these trays as well and the reason they are becoming the dominant species is because there's nothing to compete with them there's no cover pods there's no well hardly any fish until literally a couple of days ago in any of these systems that would either eat them or compete with them for obviously real estate or resources so i think in the in this system they are essentially taking over and i believe because they've got like a hard outer shell that's probably why the alkalinity is dropping so so that's that's obviously why these corals aren't doing as well because i essentially left them came back and went oh look alkalinity is 6.8 which is obviously not not brilliant so uh i'm just gradually it's now well it's now 8.2 because i've got it back to where i want it to be because now is when i'm really really going to start getting this system going right now there's a couple of other fish to show you so obviously down here i've got a scopus 10. as i mentioned i've got desjardins in the system one i have a pacific self in uh and then i've also got a yellow tang in in system one and the as i said the plan was to have one zebra zoma in every single system so there is one other fish in here which likes to hide a lot so i don't know if you'll be able to see it but that is an orange striped bristle tooth tank and then the other two fish i've got in here are this mannaris rest which as you can see is huge uh there's a lot i've just cleaned the glass of this tank which is why there's so much um floating debris in the water and then this fish is my regal angelfish now all these new fish were the fish that have come out my 1000 lead tank which has now properly been shut down this angel fish has been on a little adventure basically since it arrived because originally it was in this tank and it decided they didn't want to be in this tank anymore so it jumped out of this tank and into this tank now this is how lucky that fish is that is the only gap there between uh obviously the two systems so of all the area all around the outside that it could have jumped into or jumped out of luckily it picked here now i don't know if it could see the water through the glass it seems like a strange thing to say but i said what are the chances that that would happen uh and then obviously i found in here one day swimming around and there's no fish in this system so i thought it was very unusual and then after that it jumped out and into the weir now i don't know why it's jumping out but i have moved it obviously into this system over here and now it has decided that it's happy in this system so um now it's only in here temporarily i don't plan to keep her in one of these tanks uh at all eventually she'll go into into a display tank in the house uh but yeah this is just a temporary home for her and you know it's similar with the melania's rest because obviously it's a little bit big to be in here so it's just uh temporary holding at the moment right now the biggest mechanical changes as you can see i've set up ghl's dosa you can see that i am nowhere near as tidy as james because i just put a temporary line in as you know if you follow the channel for a while james is very very particular about how making everything look nice which is why everything looks as it does and the dosing tubes for system one run above the ceiling down across here and then down and then underneath and then all the way in the tubes down to here uh so you can see there is a big difference now i will be getting games back in soon for a few other minor um adjustments so uh obviously when when james is back i'm sure he will uh see this horrified and uh and uh correct them and put them as they should be because that dosing pump act will eventually uh be over here with with these dosing pumps so that's pretty much it with regards to system two uh so now is what you have been uh you've all been waiting for uh those of you that saw the last video will know that i bought a mystery box of agripora so i didn't know i knew there was going to be a box of agrapora i didn't know what type of acropora they were going to be i didn't know what colorations they were going to be so it really is to some extent like a like a lucky dip they didn't all survive but i'm going to i'll give you a little brief run through um of how they did and uh and and as you can see i've still got plenty in there so i kind of done too badly right now i think we should probably start with the bad news first and then work our way up to the good news so you know so i can leave you with some you know happy uh uh happy thoughts basically so if some of you will remember in the last video that i had a pink uh i wasn't sure what it was it said there was a pink strawberry shortcake and i never got a pink strawberry shortcake so i can only assume that that was what it was that died but unfortunately as i said it didn't survive this was the last remaining surviving piece which as you can see it's still not doing very well so i think that one is uh that one's basically a goner these things happen unfortunately it is it's all part of uh when you import corals so you have to assume that some of them won't make it uh and then there was one other one which is not looking as healthy as as the rest of them so this one here it was reasonably as you can see it's still got its polyps out so i've got hope that i can bring this one back and again this one was also almost white when i first got it and as you can see the colors just starting to come back so that's all the bad news with the acros so on to some of the good news so this is without a doubt my favorite piece there is something very special about about this piece with all the green and the gold and the purple tips you can see i've done a couple of frags of it already uh as far as i know uh they're all doing really well uh i was i was a little bit nervous i i'm i always like to be honest with you i have kept lots of different miller pores before uh and i've kept some tenuous and things like that but some of these i literally have no idea what they are so this blue tipped acro is a really really nice piece and then i really like this sort of pinky red one and then as i said i've got i had another another green miller which is nice because it sort of contrasts reasonably nicely with my sort of gold melapora i all you know i'm genuinely really happy because i got pieces that i would never would have picked usually so this is quite a thick chunky acro i'm not entirely sure again i i'm always honest with you i i don't if i don't know something i'll tell you i don't know so i'm not sure what type of accurate this is i got three of them so i've got one which is green with purple tips i got a green one which you can see is here and then i also got a sort of a greenie with blue tips so uh those appear to be doing really well and i i those i really like but again i don't i'm not sure what the care requirements are for them so but as you can see everything appears to be doing doing well you see this melee's doing it's got great coloration on it and then another little piece that was quite interesting was this red piece here which as you can see i've got a couple of frags off so that's uh that's the update on the acropora uh some of these are on the website already uh this one is the one i really like i've got i think one one piece on on there and i've also got one piece of the blue on the website as well now a lot of people ask me when coral's gonna go on the website uh and the honest answer is some of them go up reasonably quickly and something like i like to hold on to a little bit longer because i am i mean partly because i like to know what car they're going to end up being the other reason is i'm not i'm not in any hurry i've said this before i'm not in any hurry to try and get rid of corals as quickly as possible if they are not going to do well i'd rather they didn't do well here and that i was shipping out good high quality pieces so um so yeah that's it for the outros i've got one other shipment to show you it was a slightly smaller shipment but i requested a high-end mystery box so to speak so i'll give you uh i knew i knew again i knew what uh the species were going to be but i didn't know the coloration and some of the nicer pieces have gone already because some local people actually collect corals from me but i'll give you a little rundown of some of the other pieces i got right now this shipment as i said was a high-end shipment from australia and i absolutely love australian corals because they are always so clean so it makes my job a lot easier now as i said this was a high-end box there was some really really nice unusual pieces uh these are i believe they were put down as simphillia but they do have a different sort of name i also believe which which begins with austria or something but yeah on the box i just said simply so i got a green one and i got a red one uh i got this by color ghani which is stunning you see the where it's a little bit a little bit pink and a little bit purple so again that was that was a really really nice piece i got these lobos which i am a little bit concerned of in this tank i think they might be getting too much light because they've got they're going slightly white just this one especially on top whereas the other one seemed to be not too bad and then the other two corals i got from that shipment were i got a cans which were without a doubt the they were the show pieces from this shipment so i've got one i've got green and blue which you can see there i've got just the usual red and blue i got a pink and green and blue which is very unusual and then this one's closed up at the moment but it was open it was open earlier so it's really unfortunate uh was a rainbow one now this piece again was the bag had burst but the way australians uh ship their corals there's a second bag inside so although the bag the big bag had left let the water out the smaller bag was fine it was in the smaller bag so this one is obviously doing really well uh these are my other little weekends so now these all will be fragged and the final pieces which came in that shipment were these uh trachophilia so i got a sore red with like orangey stripes around the outside i've got this really really bright green one camera to show you how bright green that piece is and then i've got a couple of other nice pieces and some more common pieces and then unfortunately there was a fungi which died i always like to keep the skeletons of fungi it's just in case they they come back because uh you see this fungi here if you've been watching the video the videos for a while you probably know that this fungi underneath that is a it's got like a mother colony so what happens is with fungi is if when the mothers die sometimes lots of little babies will start sprouting off and um and then obviously you continually get lots and lots and lots of uh of uh of baby from gears so that's what that's what's underneath that one it's almost like a mother piece and then i've just seen this this is another piece that i got from a fellow reefer so i'm always interested people got interesting pieces i'm more than happy to buy them from you so this is a type of cephastride acadia now i have got a cephastria decayer which is this piece here as you can see it's quite a different coloration uh to this one now both of them are branching that one doesn't look very branching because i frag it so often because it sells really well but that piece and uh and that piece they're obviously slightly different colorations and that wasn't even the piece i was going to get that day so i was just a i just happened to see it in the tank and i took it so yeah i think that is probably it for um the for for systems two's coral update i've got a few different euphilias but most of them are um i've got a few like more normal colored ones they've got some bright ones this is my favorite piece at the moment this bright gold one and then i've got this orange one as well now one thing that i am a man of is my word and there you go see even if it was only for like two seconds i said to you last week that you'd get me in a video so right that's it for today guys i hope you enjoyed watching the video please feel free to comment below any questions if you did enjoy it why not click that like button and have a good week and i'll see you next [Music] time
