how you doing guys well i've got some big news for you i am on the way to pick up my brand new motorcycle i am very very [Music] excited [Music] hey guys solid here and welcome to the worst kept secret on the internet yes i've gone and bought myself a brand new 2021 honda crf 300l i'm very excited to ramble on about this bike so let's roll the intro and just jump straight in so just quickly before we get underway to stop my ranting too much this is just going to be a short video explaining my excitement which you can see on my face if you've got questions you want answered about this bike please post them down below and i will do a bike specific q a video to try and ease any of your concerns if you're thinking about getting this bike so again chuck them down in the comments section below without further ado let's get back to the rant fest i suppose the question on everyone's mind is is the hype real with this bike and what i can say without an ounce of hyperbola is yes the hype is real with this bike it is absolutely exactly what i want and i think it will be an amazing dual sport for a lot of people it's not for everyone so don't think it's going to be the panacea for all mankind but it will really suit a lot of off-road riders that are looking for something a little bit more peppy than their 250 but don't quite want a drz-400 so i think it's going to be fantastic yes the hype is real [Music] so let's talk about exactly why i got this bike basically i didn't want to go back to a wr250r because they're very expensive secondhand and i've kind of been there done that i wanted something new i got the drz to fill in the time while i was waiting for this bike so that i'd have something to do off-road rides with and it's been very very good but we just haven't clicked it's just a little too raw and a little too rough and ready for my liking you can make fun of me however much you like but we just haven't clicked as much as i would like that's left me with needing a dual sport and of course the l always looked amazing when the 300 first dropped with the rally as well it looked very enticing so i knew that there was a good chance i would love this bike [Music] long service intervals fairly light weight great gearbox 6-speed wide ratio sits on the highway perfectly still can carry my camping gear on multi-day trips and can handle single track as well and it also i think looks fantastic it's also quite fuel efficient and quite safe with that switchable abs so those are the reasons mainly that i chose the 300l to replace my drz4 [Music] now let's talk about the big questions that are out there on the internet about this bike the first one i wanted to talk about is the argued throttle response of this bike there were some worries and a few videos that said that this was a very snatchy bike in low speed situations particularly in first gear now i think all that panic rose up from people's experiences with the crf450l which i have ridden and i can tell you there is no comparison this doesn't have the same problem as a 450l the 450l when you backed off the throttle it completely cut all fuel into the bike and it was almost impossible to ride smoothly in low-speed tight situations which was a real frustration i can tell you that the 300l is just like every efi single cylinder modern dual sport it is a bit snatchy i won't say it isn't but it's just the same as a 250r a 250l a klx 250s i've ridden all of those bikes and this is no different so if you're used to a efi single cylinder there will be no surprises at all so don't worry too much the next one is suspension i've heard a lot of criticism that this suspension is too soft now you've got to ask yourself what exactly is too soft too soft for what and i think for beginners people just getting into the sport maybe you've been riding a year and you want to upgrade your 250cc dual sport to one of these i think you're going to be fine it's even a little bit better of an improvement over the 250l however for someone like me that's been riding five years plus in the dirt and over 15 years on motorcycles and you like to do the single track and you're starting to push it off-road a little more than usual i think the suspension is on the soft side myself i'm going to be replacing this suspension it is a bit on the soft side for someone that has been riding a while it's not a big deal for me i knew that getting into this bike and it was something that i budgeted for and it's generally something you should probably do on your bike anyway if you're really wanting to improve your writings so what about performance well i think the performance it really feels like a 250l is being dialed up to 11. that's the best way i can explain it it is just improved in every facet it's a little bit lighter it's a little bit more powerful a little bit longer travel suspension and it's a little bit more modern that's the best way i think i can describe it it really is just almost perfect with the power i know a lot of people said it should have been a 350cc i think i would have really loved the bike then but i think as a 286 it is pretty much perfect i really don't have any complaints i think it's going to serve a lot of needs and i think this is going to be a very popular bike [Music] so where to from here well i think this will be a long-term motorcycle i don't want to say it too early but i'm going to anyway i think this is really going to be the bike i'm going to turn into my next unicorn i can just feel it in my bones this is going to be a great little bike and just the confidence i feel from riding this already i've got some off-road rides lined up already we've got camping trips i want to organize so plenty of mods are going to be happening so look forward to all that good stuff i've been ranting enough as it is my voice is almost gone so let's just end this video on a high note i think this is my unicorn enough said stay shiny side up and i'll catch in the next video see you later
