I BOUGHT A GOLF CART!! Engine Tear Down Part 1

all right I haven't looked yet took the whole boats out let's hope just not too much stuff oh it's not too bad but if you look in there can't really see it but both sides a little cracked but other than that it don't look too bad I'm sorry can't see it don't look that bad for having a valve having a party in the cylinder doesn't look that bad except for that oh the piston [Music] hey guys so I picked up this golf cart today from my buddy 2002 and he took the engine out it's over here no one's anything unusual yep one of the valves fell down we're gonna take the head off and see if the Pistons messed up and the heads messed up hopefully it's not too bad try throw this thing back together this is just the standard eh 29c Fuji motor couple these covers are bent straighten them out another thing you can see is the camshafts a little bit rusty in the rocker arm so we have to clean them up [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] so he's gonna take pictures of it makes your way way easier forget what something goes of course I won't be using this to put it back together get the head off and you take that uh orbital rocker shaft out so we get to that bolt there to do that behind this cover we want to lose anything not that we don't lose them but so we know where to go be able to slide this out or we should be able to oh you know what's resting on the lobe that's why you gotta turn the cam shaft so that these aren't pushing down on the springs there's the camshaft and to clean that all up the two inner valves are the intake and the two adders exhaust if you need to do that all right now we should be so let's prove on it try pushing that's what they're for that's real quick all right I haven't looked yet - all boats out let's hope just not too much stuff it's not too bad but if you look in there can't really see it but valve guides a little correct but other than that it don't look too bad I'm sorry I can't see it don't look that bad for having a valve having a party in the cylinder doesn't look that bad for that so I'm gonna try cleaning this up some see how bad that carriages maybe I can I'm gonna file it down just as things not supposed to be perfect we're just gonna ride around with the phone so a new piston it's not that expensive it's 50 bucks or 40 bucks on eBay I saw so as long as the cylinders a lot of water in the way it's been sent up slide so I don't know what I want to do next maybe I'll drain it and see if any water comes out and if they're dead water comes out we have to split the case make sure that the crank or the rods are in all rusted up I just hope you can see right there you can see it sticks up actually I can't get the camera it sticks up past the top of this tonneau obviously it's not that's not good but I will see that's not good get back with you you take a look cylinder there's not really any crosshatch but there's no major grooves or gouges it's looking pretty good oh yeah same on that one but see that ring around there this engine was when my friend bought it it was seized probably just from sitting out for a little bit so he got a ton seized and he ran it for maybe I think he said 20 minutes and then that valve fell so I'm gonna finish cleaning this up like still debating on I don't have that puller for that until the clutch I doubt I'm gonna get that off without that puller so I can't split the case because you can only have splits over here so I'm gonna drain the oil and see what comes out of there I'm pretty sure it's full because if you spin over fast enough well water oil shoot up out of there so I'm guessing okay so you guys see where that level was supposed to be it's way down here see how far it's probably all the way up here oh yeah right there like I said let's drain it see what comes out of it so what I'm gonna do for now file that down I know everybody okay put new piston in it put a new piston Here I am I will well I am I want to see it feel wrong if everything else works I'll rebuild this engine getting new Pistons new valves but I want to make sure everything else is dandy I'm just file this down of course I might not have read clean is your probably woman the Pistons like if I just heat it up just melt it back in just a little bit next best thing I got is a acetone file it down but I'm just worried because I can't see it just a little bit worried because I think ya do that it went all the way through okay I understand just say it again I know this is absolutely not the right thing to do that I shouldn't even be doing this I understand but I'm gonna try so I'm just heating it up a little bit and I'm just going to give it a couple of taps but I think there's a little hole a bit wobbly three downs where that would be yeah [Music] after that cousin I know you guys gonna back officialy ran in the there you're asking why so much air in it it's still a lot of pressure because I I refill these I just take the take an air gun with the rubber tip an upside-down but hook it up have this have it this way put these together and push the trigger before you push down that way you're after there's even a little bit of damage just a tiny bit I can't I'll even see it right there and there from the valve but again I want to say this I know it's just not the right thing to do you would never ever want to put this back and put it back together and run it so I know that but I'm gonna do it I'm gonna do it anyways so heat up just a tiny bit just just tap it down just a little bit again I know but close that hole up it's tiny bit we're gonna try it put it back together and then here you can see valve guide are the actual heads key things messed up it's cracked there so there's a little burr there I'm gonna try to clean up and then what I'm gonna do is I have a brand new valve but instead of putting this one and this one and risking it getting all messed up I'm gonna take this intake valve and put it here and put the new one here because we know this valves good and stuff like that well we don't know it's good but it's not it doesn't look like that one so it's less of a chance hopefully have this new valve getting messed up got this from Tim nice guy don't know I remember the name of it some golf cart place he was a little optimistic of what I was doing here especially because of that but I told them I'll just do it I'll give it a try but I am planning if this someone put it back in I know that sounds like a lot of work but I don't mind I'm gonna put it back in test it out make sure everything works on it and then if I decide to I'm gonna take it back out you know I'll put new Pistons in it and maybe a sea wave let's remove covers I'm gonna try straighten these ones out open up the bottom make sure I'm gonna do now drain all the oil out oil water whatever's in it no there's a lot one thing that I don't like is there's never never any good oil oil oil pans this one says it doesn't oh yeah look at that water can you see it come on just grip back in get it closer straight water amazing ready watch this oh there's the water oh Jesus how much water's in it Wow Wow that is my just gonna change the oil and covered that Street water there's rods probably all rusted up wish there was a way I should peek in there but I'm not even gonna try to get that clutch off cuz I'm not gonna get it heard many stories trying to get it off you just need a bucket or just a weight thing to do well I should be saying that because the right thing you would replace the Pistons rebuild the engine but hopefully it doesn't throw a rod or anything even that doesn't look like oil it's still water that's not good I'll let this drain where is the oil I guess I'll have to put some oil in it run it drain it on it Quincy you should have covered it I don't know should I cover it Quincy quite not gonna reuse the engine in any way so I guess I guess you didn't care so I Here I am trying to oh that's not good it's all like sludge and metal I think that's is that metal you know what I don't think it is I think it's just sludge I don't think it's metal okay so I want to make sure it's not all rusty in there so I drained it and I have a board of school tried sticking the boards go through the oil plug book I just couldn't turn it to see up so I thought there's a no little footer over here I took it off I already took it out I went a see how should it fell in there was like a big piece of sludge on this thing but now I could see in well I wish I took that piece of sludge out cuz now it's inside the engine so let's see if you can see in there there's a lot of just like slide so I'm gonna get the borescope or get my hind closer in there and see if I can see it see if there's any roster doesn't look too bad I wish I have to dump I wish I still had it so we can put it in here run it through and drain it clean all this stuff out of it yeah okay so I looked in there and actually it looks pretty good just all that will in there so what I think we do is that piece of sludge or whatever it was fell back in there was I'm stuck on here I'm gonna show you but but it fell back in so I'm gonna try tipping it over see if I bring on this I'm gonna make a mess you know what I might have to do wait to use this one and put the end in on the ground [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] look at that see all the water runs down first see that's all water you don't have I'd you I'm gonna grab my air hose and see if I could blow top I can make a mess once you hold this sign and blow in here [Music] yeah so okay maybe give it a little lower down a little bit I'm gonna do that double blow from the inside so we don't push the dirt further into the filter so what I'm going to do that [Laughter] how did that work pretty well [Music] [Music] okay make sure the sealing surface up fight through a million little changes get this all cleaned out my friend said this engine wasn't salvageable but how long prove a little point not prove a point but just get it to work so I know it will I know it's still wrong I know not be the best for it but till then we'll get some new pistons and rings and for the cylinders maybe a new head if I could find one for [Music] I just took a quick peek in there and good don't want to strip it out I did jump till we're done washer we'll figure it out it's clutch surface isn't looking that good take some scotch brite or something to it to be a long video I'm actually recording working after of course there's a spec for these I do have the manual for this thing I'm gonna line free okay huh glad that's there glad I was able to take that off and look in there makes me feel much better move this so we don't spill it before where I can kick it now you gotta work on this his head just a little bit and I cleaned up that hole there or the valve guide but it looks like we really need to get one more intake valve because you saw this look focus focus you kind of see it we should focus there yeah I don't think about supposed to look like that look at that a crazy must have been some real bad valve lash poor maintenance there's a new intake valve or exhaust valves they're just dirty but they still got well a little bit it's like a top hat kind of shape almost leave the head off maybe I could put the engine back in the cart be okay just have a street these covers do that maybe let this soak in some of that uh acetone I don't get some brake clean tomorrow actually better idea oh yeah I put some TV blaster on this in the can maybe we can clean it up get some little surface rust off of it yeah let me get that cover off and straighten them out yeah maybe I'll take ARB - all right take this cover off just one more bowl Quincy and you could have took the cover off to bend it you couldn't reach it Oh can you not get this off without the cut off oh I see [Music] Wow that's going to me when I go to Marva get the new valve I'll just grab that puller I'm lying there for $1 I'm like this guy's gonna charge only if they made this I see why you what else can I do get the cover off if there wait till take it off oh yeah look I don't know if you can get the clutch on and off while it's in the car okay putting the bolt from the cover in the magnetic tray like I remember which one goes to oh really cut the fuel line to use the biggest screwdriver you know it's interesting so this is the the broken valve is it all worn out like that she's interesting I'm thinking if I'm gonna take that clutch off so just throw a new piston I don't want to wait that's the thing you never know you never want a wheat throw-ins patient enough neither mine yeah that's right another valve Tim the golf cart shops over here oh right there want to replace those copper crush washers too not too bad not too bad pretty clean careful of the striptease Oh can't even see through it's blocked like it's good it doesn't idle see I don't have one of those ultrasonic parts cleaner carb cleaners they're not really not our cleanest but everybody uses it for that I have one of them so you're gonna blow out all the holes take out the skull screws blow the room hope they're clear I guess not taste good it's a shitty old gas Aston does not work as well as a free cleaner parking would it's all like green let's make sure that float works should take care so what I always do blow on it hold it up right okay comes out flip it up nothing comes out full again you probably want to put a new copper press washer you know me I try to do what I can with what I got first before I go out I will just press it a little extra I think the outside of this thing to blow those holes years [Applause] maybe this one's idle barely fits surprisingly that's not hold up years [Music] [Music] again another copper washer even a little extra so I think that's it for tonight cam and rocker rocker shaft see how clean this is not that bad so getting some PB that's what I'll do go get some Emery cloth tomorrow end it up some more can't really soak you know what I could do so paper here the same see how that works bring this up - was it a gasket yeah there is reuse that gasket do bad leaks then that means we gotta get your gasket again this is my golf cart I'm gonna do it the way I want this was someone else that I was fixing it place all this like new like new so really long video all right I think I'm done for the night calling it quits yep see you guys one quick thing is I don't see it on camera but if you look at this side I see it slower no look at this that's what it is see that spring hanger almost vertical Oh what's flat so yes you think you know jack it up and push it back down it's a bushing or something to shot I don't know you ever looked how that they call it hurts are so I'll do that twice I'll do it tomorrow so all right go to bed you
