can you beat minecraft if every block looks the same minecraft is a very distinct visual style so of course today we're throwing that all into the lava for this challenge the rules are clean and simple at no point during the run are we ever gonna see more than just a sea of white blocks and what classifies a block well for convenience sake let's just say that means any opaque tile that we can change in the blocks folder of a resource pack for my case I also figured it was best to only use random seeds for here just so we wouldn't pick up any form of extra help but best that everything else is fine and we're good to go so it's time to switch our world over to a whole lot of nothing in this no texture challenge hey there folks I'm skip the tutorial and here we get to the bottom of gaming's weirdest challenges and hey this is your first time here then apply a resource pack to that subscribe for weekly deep dives and do your biggest questions for our purposes today I decided to make my own modified pack for the run since other videos that covered topics similar to this one either had text to see which block it was or just want the default purple and black route so a plain white seemed like the best option for us but even with all that we're still not getting any favors for this run and the survival challenge stacks up quick so here are the seven big problems that we'll have to face if we want to see credits ranked from peaceful to hardcore booting up the run we can start off our survival mode checklist pretty easily because even when we can't make out exact textures it's still a pretty safe bet but if you punch above ground you'll get wood and if you're my underneath you're bound to get cobble and while that can get us on the right track we're immediately thrown off course when we need to upgrade the stone tools which brings us to our first big challenge of the run because trying to find iron ore takes on a whole new meaning when we can't distinguish between the blocks that were mining obviously just searching through caves and ravines isn't gonna get us there but we get that same problem with strip mining as well since most strip mining methods are predicated off of seeing the ores alongside the walls we would need to mine every single block in sight just hope to find iron vein and when we've only got a basic toolkit that process is way too tedious for us to rely on so if mining is out of the equation then how do we solve this one well lucky for us we are given a few options above ground to figure out this dilemma village blacksmiths can work particularly well for this especially if you got plenty of time to search one out but thanks to 1.13 we've actually got a new optimal strategy to hunt for Lu you see if we scope out our nearby ocean and then swim about every now and then we'll see these big sunken ships in the water and after diving into one of those to pick up an old map we're given the perfect opportunity to search for buried treasure which means a chest for us to dig up and get insane amounts of materials don't get me wrong finding all of these points is still time-consuming there's no doubt about that but they give us a great chance to get the iron and diamonds that we need to progress to the next part of the run which just so happens to be setting up the nether portal and while in the traditional route and getting the obsidian to do this is no small feat there actually are some speedrun tactics that we can use that make building the portal pretty easy if we just use some above-ground lava and our share buckets we can make this work but that's not exactly where the issue here comes from rather I think the struggle in this case roots back to finding gravel and Flint because what we can skate past ores by searching through randomly generated chests finding gravel really does just come back to testing every single block that we can mine honestly the best way to get it through this bit might just be searching through biomes and keeping a hefty knowledge of block generation because this comes down to be the heaviest orangie luck of the run or you could just not be an idiot like me and realize that there's plenty of other ways to light a fire in Minecraft I'll stick by the flint and steel for safety reasons but in retrospect yeah there's definitely other ways to make it past this I just didn't recognize them soon enough so after unknowingly wasting my time we're finally ready to dive deep into the nether and this brings in a whole new dimension of issues for one we've got to find another fortress and that's not exactly a simple task our eyes glaze over from the lack of texture in my case the fortress wasn't quite nearby and it took a lot of Falls and makeshift pillars to navigate anywhere close to the thing so for that matter I recommend packing plenty of foodstuffs beforehand to make it through some regen but past just finding the thing killing the blazes is the most straightforward part of the process so long as we stay alive and build a safe room to outlive the flames sure it's slow going to juggle the life bar while trying to manage to get a decent stack of blaze rods but that's nothing compared to the route back to the portal at least for me the random generation here was really unforgiving especially when I hadn't packed the best gear for the trip and when we're out of pickaxes and blocks in the nether then that's the prime opportunity for stuff to go south so I'll definitely advocate that the best tactic here has to be stashing up on full stacks blocks and plenty of materials to craft new tools otherwise we're waking right back up in our spawn point and trying out all again after stashing up on blaze rods we've got one last item on the Enderdragon grocery list but as luck would have it it's not quite a cakewalk to store up on ender pearls sure there are some definite best practices like scoping out a desert or flat terrain picking up a horse and then riding round when the Sun gets low but the execution is where this all goes into the gutter for transparencies sake I'm not gonna claim that I'm the best at finding Enderman and it didn't do me any favors not to pack any extra armor better weapons for the grind however all hold true that trying to get a stack of ender pearls moves at a snail's pace and the whole process adds way too much danger into the boring mix and since we're not using a special speedrun seed that lets us cover the quota just fine we'll need to stash up and as much of the things as we can manage before going and saying but after we've had our fill and already at home base we can craft up some eyes of ender and kick off the hunt now this part really doesn't change with the challenge to find the stronghold all we've got to do is just pick a direction and shuck them till we're there the real sticking point here actually comes from trying to pinpoint just four structure is plane around the pearls we can get a ballpark for it but finding what level it's at is a real trouble here especially when the previously distinct stone bricks just look the same as any old block as much as I hate to say it the best strategy that I can figure through this is simply rummaging around until we find it but after using up all of our patience on that part we're still not out of the clear because now we need to look for the portal and hey I'm sure there's some well-thought-out technique for mapping out each room and streamline in the process but I sure as hell didn't find that and I'm completely fine with giving this one its own point for all the trouble that it gave me when each room looks like a carbon copy of the last and you're just running around in circles trying to keep your food stash up as you slowly dwindle down on torches plenty of factors pile up here and for me it became embarrassing how long I spent trying to figure this one out with my luck the portal room was just on the other end of caved in ruin and my dumb eyes must have just considered that irrelevant for the search but add insult to injury as it took my walk of shame over to the end entrance I got near killed by an onslaught of silverfish now I've played Minecraft since 2011 and of all the creeper jump scares and long nights without food that I've dealt with this one way with silverfish put me the furthest on edge that I've ever been in this game there's not even a good excuse for it it was late I was tired and what I thought was a harmless mob for all this time damn near killed me but after all that song and dance we can lay out our final few ender eyes into the slots and let the void open up leave a bed for good measure and we're ready to jump in spawning into the final objective here's where we enter the single most taxing part of the run as we head on over to the mainland it's time for us to start working on the towers and this part I made sure to prepare for going so far as to dig through tons of gravel just to have enough Flint for the arrows and initially that didn't mean all that much since I just still pill it up to the crystals and took them out point-blank but after getting flung off a couple times with a dragon my was more than ready to just curve shots and hope for the best although that does bring up an interesting point in the challenge itself which is that the dragon is such a pain to deal with here and I'll even admit that with the resource pack the actual fight isn't all that changed I mean the end still basically looks the same but I'd reckon the toughest part here is that everything in the journey leading up to this point woefully under prepares us and contrasts what we would have in a regular run so what's the best strategy for the dragon fight well thank goodness Mojang lets the beast actually sit down in more recent updates because now we've got the full opportunity to hijack behind her with a diamond sword and lay all the hits on her tail so long as we avoid the dragon breath it's a solid strategy to lay on the pain and just about gets us to that win or I guess you could just use beds by other works regardless the ender dragon flies up into the sky and it's safe to say that it's entirely possible to be minecraft without textures I'll be it a little time consuming and with that folks mind this one up in the top right to see us take on snipper clips without sniffing each other or use a flint and steel on this one in the bottom right for another video if you want to support the channel and get new uploads every week then craft up a subscription but until then take care and you have a good one all right

technically there are textures. That white block is a texture. If there weren't any textures it would be a purple and black checkerboard pattern on every block.
