all right welcome today is rebuild this Jack here it's a good jack it's from the 70s I think it was a sears model 328 two point twelve thousand and they made they made millions of these things under different names but there's actually a good jack it made in Japan not China but made in Japan and it's definitely worth rebuilding like I say it's from the 70s so what it does is when you pump the handle up it you know the pallet goes up but doesn't stay up it comes back down so let's throw it up on a table and we'll see if we can do with it all right yeah we put up air it's pretty heavy you go made in China all right yeah we're gonna we're gonna take the pump out itself and this actually is doing it here's the gears tighten them up here and if you look at it you pump it up it'll just keep going down so it's probably just the the o-rings in the in the main cylinder but there we go here we go but I bought the whole kit it was like 45 hours you know a lot of guys are saying you know a 45 hours for a kit you can go to harbor Freight and buy one or a whole jack for 50 bucks but there's two different animals it's this thing here it's all quarter-inch steel cast iron and stuff like I say this thing this thing wants to wade 75 80 pounds putting it up here but I was looking at it and oh yeah these kids here you get these kits on eBay or anywhere on the internet I mean you just you just put in the what model you got and you know you find them all over but it doesn't look like I have to take the handle off but I think I will just to to get it out of the way looks like the only thing holding this piston in here on Aziz put the light on here there we go oh these wheel pole sees rear wheel bolts not even the front ones just a real real so you know dang em take the wheel good go one on each side and it looks like it slides down this thing behind these welded plates here so we'll take that off and see if we can get that we're gonna take try and take the least amount of stuff all for this to work on that pump all right yeah put yours on the tripod here and and I lifted this up and you can I'm gonna Lock this in place and you can't actually lift this up I'm gonna try and stay out of your way and it is another you see down there but it is leaking leaking profusely so it's coming out the main thing so I don't know that you see it but there's a cotter pin right here come my hand somewhere on the backside here there's a cotter pin right here and I think that just holds a head in here so we'll pop that spring off and take that cotter pin out and hopefully when we own both them two bolts in a wheel it'll come out all right all right everyone Sirah you just might see a shot like this you know so I know if I have trouble and forget which way that spring way and I can go back and look at the video so that's that's just helping me you know like this see which way it has faced and stuff you know so if you just see a quick clip it's it's just for me all right yeah I took that spring out that came right off just took a screwdriver to pop right over that little little head there and then the cotter pin right here I can squeeze that together and push it down and I was using this wrench here just to hold it up so I had room to work now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take the wrench out and turn this thing on its side and when that goes down it should push that piston back in and then we can take it off from behind all right I'll see how it works okay there we go all right so that's all disconnected you know when I see other guys do this on on the internet they don't screw everything separate this thing and take a half a partner and then see any reason to do that so let's take these wheel bolts out here and see that Jack will come out all right yeah it took his rear wheel bolts off to hold the wheel casters on and the jack actually fell out it actually separated that the sides here spread open and the only thing holding this together was in two bolts so my rights thank you look pull right out all right yeah let me clean it up and then maybe we'll throw in a voice in there start taking her part all right we gotta clean it up here and it's just sitting on top of ice but there a few things you want to make note of like this filler this is we yeah you felt but I draw oil in it if you look at it it's it's not in the center it's not right on top it's off to the side and that's they did it for a purpose so I'm just gonna mark it and it goes right about here and put a little mark all right yeah that's so when you fill it it'll start overfill and I'll start overflowing before it's completely full because it needs a little air in there you know for that fluid to work properly I'm gonna take his plug out and empty it all right even though this plug feels okay I did buy another one here it looks slightly smaller from the top but hopefully hopefully to the bunghole the same size here all right yeah that's about a two and a half inch nut I don't know how the biggest rich I have is two-inch but do have 24 inch crescent wrench here so and a four-foot pipe so let's put that on here and see if we can break this loose tried to get it away yeah don't want to move I'm gonna put a fight want to see if that does anything I think it's moving I think we got some movement leverage leverage is the trick here we go guys laughed at me when I put this wrench talked how you gonna use that for well there you go all right let me take it off and see what's in there all right in my efforts to take office not the bottom piece thought is spinning here so I don't know if the bottom piece is threaded in where it's just sitting there so I'm gonna continue taking this off and then there and I will look into that this is spinning pretty easy so that's good alright you gotta listen up here spin out so it's ready to come out there we go alright let's fit inside a little thing there and this here don't come out hey it'll come out this way look we gotta get some kind of pin in the bottom hands to make sure you notice that I don't know what's holding that oh you know what hmm I don't know anyway it's just gonna come out that way all right let me put this down in the bucket here and I'm gonna take this off and empty that instead of pail say I thought we pulled over the floor here all right I'll get back here all right I emptied that out while I was emptying out this piece here just came off so that's not it's not screwed and that's just sitting in there so I'm gonna put that over there to be cleaned and a mess up here huh yeah that's just the bottom of the piston have you see it but got a big big world there all right I'm gonna clean this up and look it over and then we'll get back to you all right yeah clean this out and I love the lights on the other White's on yeah and there's only a reservoir but that looks good and they're all machine parts are all nice and everything so that's an excellent shape and then you look in here I cleaned all that up I don't think there's any old rings ready to go in there that's just the two holes on the one on the right one on the left that's just like when you push this here I'll push that I see what happened she squared up that's how the oil gets into that cylinder we go pushing it and then I guess it comes out the other one and and want to side here you got a little screen that's all good the only overhang I've seen is this one right here and I'm gonna I'm gonna refill this as I go and I'm gonna put it right back together and then we'll mess with this stuff on the side even though these these ones on a side warrant leaking we're gonna replace everything all right yeah we got that all cleaned up and we're looking at it and what we have is one one o ring down here for the reservoir I know a lot of people say you shouldn't use sharp objects and stuff but this I'm digging right into the rubber I'm diggin it to the metal so I'm gonna have to clean up that little groove but clean the rest of these up in there excellent condition this here has it doesn't have a scratch on it just pristine as the day was made and it looks like that's like I don't know if that's plastic a rubber or what but you look at the package here and it's that blue thing and that blue thing that seems pretty hard but it looks intimidating when are you looking here and you see Christ six ball bearings and like 2025 rings and stuff but these are multiple kits I'm gonna wind up with a whole whole bunch of leftover over rings I'm pretty sure I see that this here is actually a seal that's not overhang it's a seal and then there is an o-ring on the outside there so when I take this piece out here I got a pan on the ground there to catch the oil and it looks like you'll just pull out you can good shot all right there's there's nothing on this thing I'll clean this off even at that that piston air that piston airs pretty pristine so we'll let that drain a little bit maybe I'll try and take this nut off here well we got stand it up alright looks like you have an o-ring down here and then a seal right here all right let's take this screw out the big screwdriver on here oh wow what if that was gonna be tough all right again let the pain gonna Florida I don't worry about that just keep your eye out for ball bearings and stuff cuz we don't know what's gonna pop out of here okay this here seems to be just a cap I don't even think it has a here's a here's like a little seal or a gasket there but inside there's a screw I don't know if that's the pressure side or not I know one of these is set by the factory and I thought it was this one over here I wasn't gonna touch but somehow I think that that looks like an adjustment screw so I might not mess with that but I'm gonna take your screw off now and see ya see what's going on I'm gonna mark it in case it is something but I'm gonna take that out and look at it all right I got this one loose let's take it out see what falls out huh okay mother Goose crew I do see a ball bearing in there so I'm gonna put that back in and then we'll shake it loose what maybe we pull it out a magnet once we straighten it up all right there weren't two ball bearings in there and it's right here on the thing the small one the small one goes down on the bottom and then the big one goes on top I was able to pull him out with just a point Chet put some earth magnets on there and pull them out so I said it wouldn't fall off all right I want to go have some dinner and then I'll come back here and we'll mess with this more all right so you want to get back all right I'm back all right I had to put a wrench on this pipe here I didn't ask about an inch in 1/16 just to break it loose and once I broke the loose okay so let's see what's in here [Applause] okay it's just a pointy valve don't see any any gaskets a row rings there want the left they look a little better you get flashlights on the side there okay yeah there are no rings in there but what there is is a copper washer put your weight on this thing yeah you got one copper washer on the inside here and then is that piece I just took it out Wow even this even his point here is sharp as the day was made but you lift this up and on the back here's another copper washer and I notice it were a couple in their in their kit there so it doesn't look like a whole lot of mashers and over rings but man it was a lot in that package all right let me drain some of this and we'll turn on the side and start putting some of the stuff back together all right I took everything out of the package here and like I say 80% of these we're not gonna use but let's start by yeah here's the valve that turns it on and off and you have this copper washer and then the flat plate here and a copper washer under it okay these are the new washers here they're a little thicker and a little bit wider but they'll work the better work right I paid for him all right so put that on we'll put that on and we'll put that on and let's walk it over to the voice we'll put that in right now all right that's one less thing all right I'm gonna put this down there so I can line everything up all right you know one little chamber here in fact that had that screw in there and I said well gonna mess with it because I look like it was part of factory setting well I messed with it and it's got this this pointy thing on there a spring and then this screw but what I did is I I counted the rotations as I came out so I'm gonna put it back same way there I don't see any seals or anything down here so I'm gonna put it back just how I got it let me screw that in another baggie all right I got that back in I turned the ring around here so you sit and this has a little plastic washer on there and that all these this is the closest we come to it which is the same same diameter I mean the center is small or on that what this fits right in here so that's got a bit of one we'll just put this back on I'm gonna sash is a cover plug okay you don't like that type this goes seal that all right yeah let's go over here and see what ones we need all right let's do this this next one here all right we've got plastic retainer there and then overing all right already I don't see the plastic retainer and I got everything here there's one and that's too small then you get three of these these are split and these are all too big and there's a black one here's a black one it's too big I'll even think again they couldn't even squeeze out there now if you had to so looks like looks like we're gonna have to reuse this one here and that's a thick overhang there that looks like that will be this one here okay stick the o-ring in there stick that plastic retainer on there and then that ball bearings had this small one and they want you know we just had this yeah $45 you think that would give you all the gaskets your nip I'm gonna have more overhangs another do it I thought I had a cross header but I'm I'm heading to gear hitting the gear here we try a small screwdriver just till we get down here okay that's tight all right let's do this next one here that's what the word plunger goes okay know how well you guys gonna see this but you see it looks like there's some kind of white thing in there areas down there that looks like some kind of protective retainer and and then overran so see if I can get that okay all right that came right out actually doubled up have I even doubled up but it looks like yeah they gave gave you two here don't like the o-ring right there okay can we look that over and clean up I'll turn you back one alright here's what came out and here's what's going in it's a split ring but this one is sicker this one's actually thicker it's about the same thickness as these two put together which is one all right check the instructions just to make sure you know I thought maybe yeah one one on a bottom you know you can get check the internet maybe they'll blow up for this thing but I checked it out and it only hit someone to close the back up you put the o-ring in and the backup goes on top so I'll see stick it in here all right you know got the dick around with that a little bit so we'll turn it back on when I get it in all right I got that over again down there and the white retainer that goes on top of it that wasn't too bad a little bit of playing with it but now I gotta get this seal out and I have a feeling that's gonna get a little ugly so I'm gonna wear I know I'm gonna show you getting it out but I'll get it out and I will turn his back on we put the new one in all right here's what I did I had to get an awl and and hit it down here to get behind it and then I was able to get a screwdriver and bang it out of the way now see you're not damaged or anything except the seal and now it's just a matter of grabbing that and pulling it out let me see if I grab it all right got some itty-bitty vise grips here needlenose now see if I can grab back maybe yeah nope try it again hello yeah well let me keep working on it all right yeah it came out I mean start it was tough but I grabbed it with the vice grips I was trying to be able to questions and then then that thing just got on there and pulled it out so it's good to set here before forget my anything getting down in there all right that is seal this seal was put in like this like the most seals in it put them in with this end so you have something to hit on and that's not gonna do you know I could be wrong but and this seal was different this this seal was thinner you know but I guess you did it gotta take what you can get I hit down told bottoms okay there we go I'm hunting a smaller socket and so yeah I get it I sit my bottom there so that's good I know I should be lubricating this but there we go well I believe that in here cuz that's will be long it's okay so this this is all done now never get a work on on this here all right we try to find that gasket like that one right there should call her an o-ring huh right see how it fits mmm I guess if it's all right cuz the reservoir what a reservoir is shaped it's beveled and it goes down around the outside of that so I think that's the right now all right let's do the top now okay it's not that it's not that one let's say it's just one here okay it looks pretty good uh now I'm gonna have to try and do the same thing with this this seal here I'm gonna put it in the voice and see if I can lock it out from behind not much for me to grab wanted but yeah let me try - all right it wasn't the bed oh yeah I was able to bend over the sides and then turn upside down and head out from below so I came out nice yeah this seals here it is it crazy I they don't make them like this anymore for sure you know that's it's got to be 14 gauge steel there or something that's unbelievable now now that stuff is so thin you just tap into bends all right looks like this one's gonna go in here again this one here who's facing up this way and this side was down so I don't know let's see the links at leaks I don't think of a leak and again this one here is thinner it was thinner this way than this one [Music] sound leave a pretty solid it looks good from down here alright let's move on let's go now let's what's working on that piston alright let's get us some snap ring pliers here and a little snap ring on here okay that wasn't too tough that comes right off this one here it's a it's a tougher rubber but you can see Wow I love you can see that any angles but it was really just one here is just about flat so here's got a nice big Ridge you want it I guess that's why I was leaking that's just a piece of steel now Oh but this is for but I think I'm gonna leave it you know what I mean just put our ah there we go just put a last behind it all right it's gonna say you know without that lip I don't know what share which end goes in but I do because this is the back I put our snap ring back on I'm sure it snapped in there okay all right we're good to go there all right now it's just a matter put it back together all right so this is what we replaced all this here don't look like too much but this is what we had left over you know just for other kids I guess not too bad all right now I'm gonna replace this for everything back together I'm gonna take this off just to get it out of the way because of feeling want to wrestle this well maybe not to get that in there yeah and I don't think it's going pretty good let me go get some lubricant anyway but maybe a little Vaseline petroleum jelly I think our people use all right yeah I got some petroleum jelly and know why this has got to be 30 30 30 35 years old or something there you go you go I said date on the back expiration date let you see that January 12th 84 still good though never heard that it's not going bad so just put a little bit here on the bottom real thin coats you know it's here and we go today I'm happy I hear a whistle and the ball listen out the holes so it's pretty tight alright now put this back on and if you recall you turn around here here's my mark for a for that filler now since I got the Vaseline out put a real thin coat on this o-ring here okay and a little bit inside whoa oh that's not a good sign how's she been tight there yeah I should be tighter than that sir that's scary I mean that's what was leaking before you don't I don't think it matters which what I put that on because you know it's it's loose both ways Wow hmm oh well maybe it's cuz of is leans on it we'll never know let's just hope it don't leak the leaks and I'll have to wear another one or seal ism isn't going down isn't going in there I'm gonna mess with that we may have it they have the wrong sealing that we'll see let me check it out okay I take that out I tried I tried to tap it on you know cuz actually the this thread here is what pulls that down and it wasn't gone you know it wasn't it wasn't happy so I put a thinner gasket on there and it seems to tighten up pretty good so you see it's a little bit you know I mean it's it's there it's working and you know it's tight and then when you tighten down on that it'll seal so I think I think it might have the wrong gasket on there well should I say o-ring all right let's get back to where you were all right I got my hole lined up here with my little mark there and go tighten this back down yeah second this this up here is more of a wiper than a seal so I think we'll be okay you know that big blue thing was was really to seal let me tighten it a little bit all right I got it I don't think I have as tight as it was but it's tight all right I'm gonna move it over to the table here I'm gonna put the jack back together all right we're all put back together and you see down here is our hole and what we're doing is putting hydraulic fluid in there you know hydraulic oil what we're doing we got it in a little squeezy bottle here with a little rubber tip horn air so we're gonna fill it up so it comes out the side and then we'll pump it up and then put some more in there it's pretty tight down here all right you guys probably can't see much anyway so I'm gonna fill it up and I will turn it back on after it so awful alright it's full used it didn't take much I took about a half of one of these here so now we're gonna do is gonna lock it and then just keep pumping it up here you hear gurgling make sure you got it locking there you go and movies back a little cuz you really couldn't see yeah see now you just keep pumping it up get to the top you let it down and then you fill it again yeah and you pump it up again and you should be fine but so far this one looks like it's doing pretty good cutting get do this before alright so way to the top let's now get here going in now I'm gonna fill this again it all comes out I started puke out now you know what I'm sure you're putting it I forgot to tighten it he just keep cycling like that and it should be fine all right it's too dark out there now but I'll take it outside we'll try it on the truck all right we'll see you more all right say wait until tomorrow I got a car right here you guys here yep no problem staying right there so there you go if you ever come across an old jackets well worth picking up all right you guys learn something or is this a helpful tasted pride not subscribe anyway all right no for this
