you you crazy this has been a bucket list item for me for so long to be down here amidst all of this the enthusiasm the excitement the pressure that's going on in the garages right now it really is something that I'm gonna remember for a very long time we've got three teams the toyota each bar has three drivers now those three drivers can do stints anywhere up to five hours depending on the way that the strategy works out basically they've got about 12 sets of tires that they can use throughout the entire race so that's one every two hours assuming that it doesn't rain which it doesn't look like it's going to be using michelin's and the easing slicks I asked about price really there's no price when it comes through size we can try them they're specialty made so it's an expensive game to some good practice this morning before the race the cars are settled in and you have a pretty sweet lap record in your back pocket as well they makes life easier it's just the lip and 24 hours run top much tougher you have a 2.4 liter yes decent engine v6 yeah turbo engine and you're running a hybrid setup yes we have performs on rear motor yellow and the motor generators are fed by a battery yes the power the power is generated on the braking them so this is we say the circuit where we have a very very high braking energy coming back so this is perfect so with the hybrid I mean people might think is that is that for a efficiency or is it actually so that you can be faster and track its efficiency you say yes you go fast around the track the caution will be cooked your energy and you give it you release it again yeah that means you will use significantly less fuel so the left records which we have done where we beat the old leopard for 1985 yep done with roughly 70% list a few wow that's incredible I'd like to say I'd like to root for the underdog but you're not really the underdog it's just that you've had some pretty crappy luck over the years when it comes to the 24-hour of the month we said internally is the only thing we don't need for this l'amour it's bad luck bad luck all the rest we have to do by ourselves and I think we are pretty well prepared so we go for it and offering something that's going to get us around the circuit just a little bit faster [Music] well that's definitely one way to see maybe you see behind me the sun's finally just starting to sit now the judge distances when it's kind of in this big twilight zone right now Toyota still they wanted to but Porsche are only sitting 30 seconds off the leader so it's still anyone's game about four and a half hours into the race the number 8 Toyota was forced to give up its second place standing to address motor generator issues in the garage this is my first 24 hour I thought I was gonna be sleeping attire by this planet there's so much going on it's still so interesting that 24 hours or more when you see what you think that the situation is okay and everything nothing could happen yeah that's when everything everything happens [Music] this is kind of hard to watch because way I'll come after you is gonna lady the rest I made all the rice essentially is stop dead on the side of the road and it's so reminiscent of on at the end of the race last year these Tonkinese dangers started it surprises they just got the bad [Music] the auditorium never swim [Music] everyone is not reading it is it will be a another bad news for you the amount of drama that unfolded over the last couple of hours it's just in a word devastating just to watch the team in the faces and everybody else's crushed us not one but two of the cars went out within maybe 15-20 minutes of one another when they were literally bleeding and they looked like they were just gonna romp in hard place to live in a right car at the pits as I speak you know it's still no way to guys that in ours but Porsche stay where they are at number one either way to be a phenomena that rosie has [Music] well it's been a long a dramatic night here with Toyota at the 24 hour of Lomond it's been amazing being embedded with the team and kind of witnessing the events unfold what started out is almost like a shoo-in with free cars going out leading the race all got turned on its head at about 1:00 a.m. this morning has been very little sleep I can tell you that this race has been absolutely fascinating you would think that a 24-hour race would get boring or tedious it has been anything but we're now at the end it looks like Porsche and may still have a chance to taking it out so we're gonna head up the start/finish line and catch the rest of the race [Music] we've been 24 hours of highs and lows and yet again after 24 hours of LaVon and unfortunately for Toyota the top step of the podium has eluded them yet again but just to finish the race like this in any capacity is a remarkable feat and that's exactly what Toyota did throwing out a record-breaking lab's even up into the final hours they did it they did it well and they have assured us that they'll be back next year what a remarkable and unique event brought along strange logic I'm Jonathan Buckley we'll catch you next time you
