I think this chapter can be summed up in one
image…this has been my reaction throughout the entire chapter. But despite the comedy and the
ridiculousness of it, we actually got to learn some interesting information about the Crow
Girl. Which is what I would rather talk about. Everything else that happens in this chapter
is kind of straightforward, so I'd rather focus on the Crow Girl.
First things first, I need to get something out of the way:
I toyed with the idea that the Crow Girl isn’t really a Deity, but someone reincarnated just
like Aqua and Ruby. And I thought she was just bluffing with her powers, as though she was acting
like a chuuni. Given her attitude and demeanour, it kind of looked like she was playing a role.
That made me wonder whether the Crow Girl could be the child of a woman Kamiki killed. That
would explain her desire to have Kamiki dead, and why she isn’t able to do it herself.
In this panel, we see that the Crow Girl’s definition of a God includes those like Aqua
and Ruby, who kept their memories from their previous lives. She also says that her
mother, just like Ai, gave birth to her vessel. To the child body we see the Crow inhabit.
This would mean that the Crow is just like Aqua and Ruby. A reincarnated person who also wants
Kamiki dead. But there are a bunch of other things that don’t add up for this theory to work: What’s
up with the crows? She’s no friends with Itachi, is she? How does she know so much about the
twins and Ai? How did she know they were also reincarnated? She also seems to be omnipresent.
I don’t believe she was just chilling in Aqua’s backyard during chapter 123, no fucking way.
I refuse to believe she’s stalking the twins waiting for the right moment to show up.
There are a lot of things that don’t add up, which is why I still lean towards
her being some sort of a God. And this idea is supported by the fact that she
says she can crush Aqua’s soul, meaning she has some form of control over it, that she guides
and controls people’s destinies with the light of the moon – which is an interesting piece of
extra information that might link to Tsukuyomi, we’ll talk about shortly. She can also transfer
the memories of the dead to babies - although I don’t think she can actually do that, I think
it’s her “mother” who has that power. I think her mother, which I assume it’s Amaterasu, we’ll touch
on this in just a bit, put her in this empty child body and sent her on a guiding mission.
We now know, she can take human form. She says that the body she currently
possesses is a vessel her mother gave birth to. But her mother wasn’t a normal parent.
We can draw a few conclusions from this. First, the Crow Girl inhabited the child body she
currently has. She wasn’t born in it. Which should mean that the real child was a soulless
child, a stillborn. Similar to the twins. Second, her mother not being a normal parent
should imply that she is also a deity of some sort or someone who has a connection
to a deity. And why am I saying that? The Crow Girl says that she guides
people to their destiny. This does line really well with the possibility of her being
Yatagarasu. A mythical crow and a guiding God, who’s also the avatar of Amaterasu, fits
a little bit too well, right? Therefore, I will go ahead and make the wild speculation that
the Crow’s literal mother, was somebody who gave her baby away to become a vessel for Yatagarasu.
Now, the curious thing is that the Crow also says that she guides and “controls” people’s
destinies with the light of the moon. Japanese mythology wise, the moon is
associated with Tsukuyomi, the moon God. And it’s well known that instead of being
a calm and serene God as befitting of the moon, he was too focused on achieving order that he
would do anything, even murder, to get it. So, he is a violet Deity. This would justify why
the Crow Girl wants Kamiki dead. It could be that she believes violence is the right way to
solve something. As she says in this panel – I’m guiding you to the right destiny. I’m kind after
all. It’s a violent destiny, but if she thinks it’s the only way, then she’d indeed be kind.
I honestly don’t know if Aka forgot the stove on or if he’s cooking on low heat.
We’ll have to see how this develops. It’s interesting that Aqua says the Crow Girl went
out of her way to get involved in the revenge, even though he and Ruby didn’t ask for it.
Which suggest that she wasn’t involved from the beginning, and that the revenge is solely Aqua’s
idea. But more importantly, that Aqua didn’t need any help or guidance from her to achieve his goal.
Although, I can’t shake the feeling that Aqua has met the Crow very early on after Ai died.
They must’ve been meeting quite often, otherwise the way they behave and talk
when they interact, wouldn’t make much sense. Maybe she didn’t help him directly, but
she must’ve been involved in some other way. Because when you think about it the Crow
definitely wants Kamiki dead…remember when Aqua let go of the revenge, she
instructed Ruby to take it instead, then Aqua came back and the Crow returned to him.
She didn’t let go of it. She always checks up on Aqua to make sure he doesn’t stray from his path.
Aqua is right that it should be more convenient for the Crow if the movie turns out to
be a success. If his plan goes smoothly, then she should be happy. That’s also what
she wants to achieve after all. Technically, it makes sense for her to help out with Aqua’s
plan because that will lead to catching Kamiki. It’s funny how he gaslighted
her into playing in the movie, I honestly didn’t even consider the
possibility that this would happen, the Crow’s reaction was literally my
reaction, even the timing was perfect. It’s also funny how it turned out the Crow
has an actual personality and she’s not just a cryptic being that pops up to tease the twins;
she seems to have a heightened feeling of pride. I’m very curious to see how the Crow
will interact with the rest of the cast, and even more curious as to what the next
chapter will bring on. Hopefully, more answers.
