Supermodel moment! The lighter. … in the magazines! How do they walk? How tough is it to walk so many runways? How do you learn? How do you survive? We talk to models
about one of their craft, the runway walk. The poise. The eyes on the infinite. The poker face. The ambition of it all. Fashion is the art of walking, part 2! Of course the
casting here is stellar! We talked with Malika Louback! Karen Elson! Loli Bahia! Precious Lee! Lola Nicon! Mika Schneider! Mica Argañaraz! And Fran Summers! Anok Yai! Liya Kebede! Rianne Van Rompaey! Blésnya Minher! Selena Forrest! Carolyn Murphy! Cara Taylor! Bella Hadid! Kristen McMenamy! Rebecca Leigh! We’re at Fendi. At Isabel Marant. At Givenchy! At Versace! Everywhere! It’s time to start the show. How tough is all this on models? When you’re a supermodel, it’s not fashion week. It’s a fashion month. It’s New York. Then London. Then Milan. Then Paris You do castings. Fittings sometimes at night. Then hardcore early call times. Then rehearsals. Then shows. Your hair is done. Dedone. Redone. Dedone. Redone. Done. Done. Done. Same with makeup. You’re made up like
a stolen Rolls Royce. Then you’re made
up like a Lamborghini. Then it’s supposed
to be a nude makeup but really, you’re
made up like a Ferrari. They do a yellow lip
and alien eyebrows. They erase your eyebrows! They paint your eyebrows! They glue a diamond
between your eyebrows. They add one kilo of
false lashes on each eyelid. Everyday for a whole month. It’s the most exciting job! Well, for the first two days. After that it’s just
an exercise in zen. I know that I’m tired because
I forget what country I’m in. I got really tired when
I was in New York. I thought I was in Paris. Then, in London, after the show, I thought I was in Milan. I forget which country I'm in. What’s your trick? I have to go outside
and look around. The trick is to go outside
and read the signs. So I know in which country I am. But once I forget where I’m at,
that’s when I know I’m too tired. Back in the day, when
came the last day, you’d feel delighted.
Exhausted. Delirious, maybe. When do you know
you’re about to burst? Paris. When
you’re in the line-up. It’s mostly backstage at MIU MIU because it’s the last day. Sometimes I have to turn
my back to people because I can’t even speak anymore. I like your videos. They’re very good. I watch
them all. Just so you know. All is calibrated. The way you hold
your handbag so it looks casual or a key element. And of course
you need to carry it in the hand that will
be seen by the cameras when you do your U turn
at the end of the runway! Remember the bag. To the left, when you get there. We’ll give you a reference. This gentleman. He wants to see your bags. Before the show, you’re briefed. By the stylist A choreographer. A movement director. And by the toper, the
person who sends out the models on the runway. They will articulate the
subtleties of the season. The particular
energy. Key words. you’re power. Or you’re sexy. Or you’re energy. Or you’re happy. They used to tell
you to look rich but that’s classist now. Of course, power is the key word they’ll tell you the most. We don’t go too fast, right? No. But power. It’s soft power.
Remember, power. You need to walk really fast A lot of energy. Super excited. Really up. Really
energetic. Really beautiful. Really happy. The biggest stress is for the
model who’s opening the show. Drumroll! Lights! Music! You! The runway is empty. Anna Wintour is
waiting for you to appear. You embody the new. The trend. The possibility. You’re the locomotive. The opening model
needs to walk fast. She sets the pace
for the other models. When it’s a complicated
runway, the pressure is on her. Sometimes, I get there and
do a little prayer and then I go. Do you pray for
real ? It’s cute. Yes. I like to do a little “I hope
this goes well… blablabla… Amen”. And then I go. Meet the super model! How did you start modeling?
How were you discovered ? I got scouted on Instagram, because I’m such a poser.
Someone found me on there and was like: “Do
you want to model?” and I was like : “Ok, I’ll try”. I was in school at the
time and my mum was like : “Hum I’m not sure!”. But then, I was like: “I’m
going to prove you wrong”. And then I gave it a year
and everything went well. Very lucky to have
started with Louis Vuitton because they’re
amazing, they’re huge. They gave me a
really good platform And here I am ! So your very first show
was a Louis Vuitton ? Yes! my first show ever. I still haven’t
comprehended that and that I’m on that until
I’m on my fourth show. How was it the first time ? I actually met one
of my best friends, Grace. I met her
through the show, through a hair and make-up test. I just loved it and have not
much else to say about them. But the first show I
will always remember. I watch it all the time. Super Nostalgic and
memorable for sure. What do you tell yourself just
before going on the catwalk ? I know that everyone says
that but I’m like “don’t trip”, I try to remember what’s up But usually during the rehearsal
if I don’t feel 100% comfortable the teams are
always happy to help and show us around again. Even on my own time, I’m like “can you show me
the runway one more time? I don't want to
embarrass myself” And it’s usually what happens. How do you feel about
opening the show? I’m so excited. And so happy. Is it your first time opening? It’s my first show. Ever? Yes And you’re opening? Yes. Don’t be nervous.
You look amazing. So beautiful. I’m surprised it’s your first. I saw you during
rehearsal. You’re a natural! She’s perfect. She’s just walking
down the street. A chic street. A very, very chic street. You’re looking at a
stressed out Imaan Hammam before opening a
giant Balmain show. Everybody claps. And she leaves the
backstage for the stage. Determination is the word. The backdrop opens just for her and the room
screams just for her. There were 6000
people for that show. It was amazing! It was so great
to open the show. It’s such a powerful, strong walk. I
don’t know if you saw me walking. But I was like, I
have to give it to him! I just walked how I
always walk. Very strong. Powerful. Very fierce. Feeling myself And the music was
good. It’s so important. Of course, there is the
option of the total surprise. Not the opening but in
the middle of the show, when Kate Moss appears in the
middle of the BOTTEGA VENETA show. Totally nonchalant.
Perverse banality. What would you rather?
Closing or opening? Opening. Why? The excitement of knowing that
you’re the first one to walk out. It’s a little scary, though. Because you don’t
have anyone to follow. If it’s a tricky runway,
you have to really know. You have to be the one who
knows where everyone is going. But opening is better. and go! Vittoria Ceretti was acting cool and
casual backstage one second ago, but suddenly! The instant she
steps on the runway, she becomes this
unattainable deity. She’s the only person
allowed to move in this room. The contrast is impressive. Everyone looks at her. She looks at no one. Everything, everybody is still. Except for Vittoria and for the
heads that turn as she passes. You walk. You are
in an abstraction. You walk on air. The room is in the
dark until you appear. And when you
emerge, fashion is alive. Each step you take is an order. An impulse to
reinvent ourselves. You’re aspirational. You’re a moneymaker. You’re a fashion game changer. They close the streets of Milan
and New York so you can walk. You’re under the podium.
You’re on the podium. Your face is on
the giant screens. You strut. Without you, it’s
just an empty void. When you start walking,
companies put it live on Youtube. When you start walking the
LVMH stock rises, up and up and up. You walk and Kering gets richer. People look at
you on their phone. They comment on your walk. You walk on water. You walk in the desert. You walk on the mountain. You walk on the Eiffel tower. You walk in lavender. You walk on the
Chambord Castle. You walk in Pompidou. You walk inside the Tate. You walk between the
columns of the British museum. You’re a vampire. You’re above the laws. You’re all the
capitals. You’re Miami. You’re Antwerp. You’re New York. You’re Paris. You
walk on the moon. You walk around the sun. You walk in the garden. You walk on a green Screen. You walk in museums. You’re a performance. You’re indéchiffrable. You hide your real emotions. You hide your panic. You hide your fatigue. You’re a mystery.
You’re serenissima. You’re floating. Fashion is a bubble and
you just walk inside of it. You’re a top and the
first row is your bottom. You’re a people pleaser. You’re the empress
of planet intimidation. You walk against the elements. You’re indifferent to the storm. You have style. You have grace. You give good face. You’re a fashion machine. Don’t just stand
there, let’s get to it. Strike a pose,
there’s nothing to it. Being the bride. The stress is forgotten
or almost forgotten when you’re rewarded
with the grail of modeling. Being the bride at the end of the
CHANEL Haute Couture fashion show. That’s what happened to then
unknown French model Lola Nicon. Was it a dream of yours? To wear a Chanel wedding
dress? On a white horse? Absolutely. It’s so big you can’t
even dream of it. I learned I was going to
be the Bride during fittings. Then I was told I might
be on a white horse. So I said, “sure”. When I started as a model, I wanted
to work with CHANEL in particular. To wear the Bride’s look… At a Haute Couture show… And the horse… That’s good for your resume!
Everything is going according to plan. How do they walk like this? It’s a matter of training. Learning to walk
with high heels. To look serious but never bored. To walk like a supermodel. Oh my God. It took a long time for me to
feel like I was doing it right. Focus on Quinn Elin Mora When you go to your agency, they help you. They “train” you. But... it’s never going to feel
right until you just do it. Over and over and over again. Especially when you
start doing it in shows. It’s a different experience. I didn’t feel confident in it
until my second or third season. For two seasons
you felt awkward? Yes. I’m someone who
gets in my own head. So I was convinced that I
looked ridiculous all the time. And by my third season I was
like, maybe I’m not terrible at this! If it’s working, it’s working. I guess so. Is it like learning a language? It just takes time. You have to learn how to do it. And then forget how to do it. So it looks natural. And normal. What do you do with your face? I usually focus on one point. And I try to make my
face as relaxed as possible. If you really focus
on something, that will bring you a
little bit of intensity. But I also make sure to breathe Especially when I know the
camera is going to be there. I try to breathe in.
And breathe out. Otherwise, my
face is crazy looking. Do you do a kind of “I’m the
richest person in the room” ? No. I should do that. Normally, I’m just focused
on walking in a straight line. Got to work on that.
Always to improve. Did someone teach you
how to walk on the catwalk? I took one lesson
when I was sixteen. I cried and never did it again. So, nobody. I just walk. Who taught you how to walk? I learned by myself.
In the streets of Paris. When everybody was
asleep. I would take my phone. Put it on a window sill. And walk. Until I would
seduce myself with my gait. Focus on Malika Louback. What was your
first fashion show? I started with men. With AMI. My first Paris show
was Saint Laurent. It made me want
to do a million more. I get chills just thinking
about it. It was incredible. How did you start modeling? I simply introduced myself. It wasn’t my world. I looked for the best
agency on the market. And I was told it was IMG.
So I knocked at their door. And they signed me!
That’s how it began. How old were you? Twenty-four years old. I’m glad I didn’t listen
to what people told me. What did people
tell you back then? That twenty four
years old was too old. That I would be surrounded
by young and pretty ladies. I told them they had a young and
pretty lady right in front of them. Might as well work together. Trust me. And my team
immediately trusted me. Which pushed me forward.
I love what I do now. What was your relationship with
fashion when you were younger? I was more of a tomboy. I took all of my grandparents’
clothes. They’re my fashion icons. This is a Saint Laurent
jacket from the 1970’s, my grandpa’s. I saved all their clothes
and now I wear them my way. What are your
grandparents’ names? My grandpa on my
father’s side is called Guy. And my grandma, Jacqueline On my mother’s
side, it’s Houmed. And Amoune. What did you inherit
from their fashion sense? That as long as you love
your body from head to toes, you can wear whatever
you want. You’re the rocket. Anything you want. I feel that. When I’m wearing
a fit for a show, I embody it. Me and the fit,
we’re in symbiosis. I’ll make sure I
have fun with it. To highlight it. Always
with an elegant touch. That’s very important. The look is there. You can’t tell if I’m
here to beat you up. Or give you a kiss. That’s what I like about it. Was your walk inspired by
other models? Or was it your own? I needed to find my own. At the beginning, I would
watch a lot of shows. And then I decided I
didn’t want my walk to fit in. I wanted to have
my own signature. It’s the most important
for me, my gait. It’s a form of intimacy
with the audience. It’s a game. And I love to play. What’s a detail that
changes the game? The look? The shoulders?
The hips? What is it? The silhouette As long as you have an outstanding
silhouette, you can seduce anyone. Even your haters. You’ll
hear them go “wow”. Always. I always need
to feel a connection. Feeling connected to the audience
gives my walk more strength. I always try to
have smiling eyes. These are happy moments. e’re here to celebrate creations.
Fashion. So many things to celebrate ! My mother sees my smiling eyes and
tells me she feels like I’m smiling at her. It’s wonderful. It’s time for a pah
pah pah moment! It’s time for a lesson
on how to walk. You don’t need to take
notes for this lesson. Just to get up. Go in the hallway if you
have one or the living room. Or the deck of the yacht if
you’re watching this on your boat. ollow the
instructions, and walk! And have fun! Sometimes a house will
have a choreographer come and brief the models. He’s called the
movement director. Here, it’s Les Child. Who is a dancer.
A motion master. A gesture stylist. A mood supervisor. The genius Les Child is asked by
Kim Jones before the FENDI shows to have the models in a trance. Before the disco show, he
will put them in a sultry mood. Before the haute couture show
he will teach them to be celestial. Unreachable goddesses. Let’s see him in action! Please
note everything Les Child says is pure motivation speech. Pure fashion talk. What’s your name
again? I’m calling you Jojo! Oh, my name? Call me Jojo. I love Jojo. What’s your real name? Loïc. Loic ? Yes. They are the fashion pack! People you see in the magazines. They are the fashion pack! New character! You’re an expensive
young lady today. You have a rich partner. Whoever your partner is. And you’re fabulous. You don’t need to
rush for the train. You don’t need to rush
for any appointment. They wait for you. You can just take your
time and be extra fabulous The fabulous that you are. Their fabulousness is at 10. They talk to you and their
fabulousness is at 100. Oh bless you. You just inspire confidence. They’re there
already. They just need telling, sometimes. Permission. To be themselves.
Permission to be fabulous. Good girl. That’s better. You’re beautiful. Lift your
chin. Give the world a treat. Give the world something lovely. We need it. Convey their own personality. There’s nothing wrong
with being yourself. Like the girls of yesteryear. Like the models whose
personalities came forth. You just loved them
for being who they were. I hope it comes back. Can you be more lax on
the face? That little smile. Saibatou. Where is that from? Guinea. Go girl. Georg’. Lovely. Refreshingly
georg’, honest to God. Thank you so much. Keep it. Really!
Don’t people tell you? There you go,
girl. Confirmation. Everything else is fabulous Go girl. Fabulous. You think they walk like
machines, sometimes? Yes. There is this trend of
them just being robotic. Where their personality,
individuality is quashed. Clock. Clock. Clock. Don’t
be ashamed to be gorgeous. So they become generic. And it’s frightening. It’s
like, this woman is scary. I don’t want to get
scared of a model! I want to get to know her.
I want to know who she is. I want to be attracted
by her. I want to think “OMG, what world
does she live in?”. She should be
aspirational. Not frightening. I don’t mind a generic
walk. But this one, it’s like a truck towards you
sometimes. You know what I mean? Can I ask you one question? Ok! You are the only model, the choregrapher
didn't say you should this and this Really? That's so funny! It's a very nive compliment
that he didn't correct me I put that in my pocket Meet the supermodel!
Rianne Van Rompaey! Personally I walk
differently for every show. Because they want
such different things. But it was horrible walking for the first three
years of my career. I was walking very
straight. And at some point, I become more confident. I taught myself how to
make it more my own. But it takes experience to make
it your own. Because otherwise you don’t know what to do.
It’s not like walking the street. How would you
describe your signature? My signature? I think the fact that I walk
differently for every show is my signature. I found my own walk.
When I walk like this I feel confident But also this dress makes
me feel in a certain way. So I walk like that. I don't
know how to explain that. It’s not natural that
my hips move like that. It took me a few years. But I feel good in myself
so I can play with that. What’s the best
walk you ever did? There’s a video I still
look at sometimes. It’s a show for VERSACE. I’m walking and I
don’t know how I did it, but my whole
body is like a snake. And since then, everytime
after the holidays, I look at this
video and I’m like “I need to figure
this shit out.” Since then, Rianne Van Rompaey
hit a new personal record of elegance with this SAINT LAURENT
walk for Spring Summer 2023. The dress is slightly impeded. Each step is quite small
but never seems to be small. The hips. The shoulders.
Everything is moving. Nothing is moving. The sensuality is cosmic. This is fashion school. The walk to look at if you’re
learning the art of top modeling. Every brand has its own walk. The CELINE walk is ferocious. But elegant. The MOSCHINO walk is glamorous. Hands on hips. One
hand in the pocket. The PACO RABANNE walk
is focussed and independant. The BOTTEGA VENETA walk
is casual at the airport lounge. The HERMES walk is
determined. Indifferent. Calm. Fast. The DIOR walk is
minimal. No hands on hips. No laser eyes. No fuss. The RICK OWENS walk
is quieter than you’d think. Because you don’t need any walking
effect when the dress is already like this. Same at MARC JACOBS. The more fabric there is, the less you need to
do anything to impress. The PRADA walk
is as fast as a scoop. It’s a decision. It’s the new trend appearing. The face is focused.
The emotion is: take note, quick. The RALPH LAUREN
walk is timelessness rich rich rich. I
own the building. I own the block. I own the city. I don’t own a watch. I own time. I can not be late because
they’ll wait for me anyway. The VTMNTS walk is a tomahawk. I don’t have time for this. But a sexy tomahawk. You’re not running,
well, almost. The COLLINA
STRADA walk is running! The VAQUERA walk is chaos. It’s anarchy ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
is surprisingly quite sensual. You’re knitting with your feet. The GUCCI walk is “I’m late
and I don’t care but still, I’m late”. There’s a ISABEL MARANT walk. It’s a straight walk. Quite fast but not hypersonic. The shoulders don’t
move. Hands in pockets. No hips. It’s a factual walk. Maybe don’t stand
too much like that. Be a bit more relaxed. You know, that’s my attitude. I love women’s shoulders. I’m less about the chest. So I do this more than that. Isabel Marant doesn’t
just tell you a keyword. She sets the mood backstage. I know it’s not easy.
Sorry for my shitty shoes. Sorry girl! By the way, we have a
party just after the show that you’re welcome to.
With your own clothes. Even more welcome. Ok, bye bye. Girls. Selena is going
to speak for you. She does it better than I
do. She’s so used to doing it. Everybody. You guys look hot. You guys look sexy. I want
you to channel your inner Isabel. And, you know…girls and
boys just wanna have fun! Music is super loud. ou’re conditioned to feel like
you’re walking in front of the line of people waiting
outside of the party. But the bouncer is waving at
you and letting you in right away. Without paying of course. You don’t have to tell
him you’re on the list. You are the list. Well maybe you party too
much. But that’s another story. It's fun. Usually backstage you
have to tone yourself down. Here I don't feel that way. They play good music
and just let you be. A lot of people tell me
my walk is really gangster. But I’d like to say, for Isabel
Marant, it’s a little boyish. But I’m gonna give
her a little something. How do you walk
with Isabel Marant? With rhythm. And big steps. Cheerful. The music is super energetic. It makes you want to
walk more…powerful. How do you need
to walk for this show? Energetic. Sexy? I love the music. It’s catchy. Is it also because
it’s an evening show? No. It’s worse at
night since I’m tired. What’s your walking signature? I don’t know. What is it? Effortless. The Parisian. Yes. Well, no. I’m from Lyon. My walk is…Lyonnaise. When was the call
time this morning? 8 o’clock. Not too bad. Not too bad. My feet hurt so much
after, I had to buy sleepers. No way? After BURBERRY? My feet were destroyed. It was awful. Why? Because of the shoes.
Were they too small? No. They were awful. It was a high heel With a ring on the big toe. Open face on all the other toes. It was really hard. And you took it twelve
times? Or was it live? 70. It felt like 70 times. I had two looks. So you multiply
everything by two. My feet really hurt. Who taught you how to walk? My agent. Osana Ekue. How did she do it? She used to be a model. So she took a pair of heels. And we went in my
agency’s corridor. She said: walk like this. And that’s it. It was a couple of sessions,
between 20 and 30 minutes each. It feels long, 20-30 minutes of going back
and forth in a corridor with high heels. It wasn’t easy at first. And you had never
worn heels before? Never! How would you
describe your walk? Natural. I try to be more feminine
than in my everyday walk. But it’s a mix of
energetic and…energetic. Do you follow the music? It depends. It’s easier when
you can follow the music. But when you can’t, you can’t. Alexandre de Betak is always
saying “keep the rhythm, keep some space with the
girl in front of you”. Why? It’s filmed so that models
arrive in a straight line, with the cameras
in front of them. So if two models are
following each other too closely, you won’t see the one who follows
well when the one in front leaves. It’s important to keep some
distance. It works better esthetically. So you can see both the
garment and the model. If the girl in front of you
falls, what do you do? Apart from laughing of
course. I walk around her. Really? I think so. No mercy, Loli. Show must go on! It becomes a problem
if everybody stops. It’s best if she gets up fast
and acts like nothing happened. Unless she’s really
hurt, of course. Do you adapt your
walk to each show? Yes. Each show requires
a different walk. Today, for instance, I was walking
quite fast, energetic during the fittings. I was asked to walk slower, more sensually, if possible. So yes, to each
show its own walk. They told you to
walk like a rich girl! Yes. Walking my little
puddles. With my big fur coat! How do you walk for VUITTON? VUITTON is quite
energetic. No hips. As boyish as possible. You’re about to miss
the train. Hurry up! COURREGES? Same. Very energetic. But with hips. Always fast. Serious. Not necessarily sexy. SAINT-LAURENT? Super sexy. With a lot of hips.
Very lady-like. CELINE? Haven’t done it yet! CHANEL? Very
elegant! An elegant walk. JACQUEMUS?
Same. I would say sexy. But not trying too hard. You looked almost
naive at JACQUEMUS It was my first time
opening a show. And JACQUMUS
is an important one. The pressure was high.
I was extremely stressed. But it was a good experience. How was your walk? Too much shoulders… One of my shoulders is
completely off-center. It’s a shame. Next time I’ll do
better next time. Thank you, Loli. How is the croissant? Not as good as in Paris. Each house has its walk. And what happens
when the house is new? Or when it does
not really exist? When FENDI collaborated
with VERSACE for a single one and only
exceptional Fendace collection? Models had to guess what
would be the walk for this. The FENDACE walk. Super strong. Powerful walk.
Over the top. Quite camp, actually The day before the show,
we talked to Precious Lee. You really have to
get into the garment and understand what it is
you want to exude from it. And understand what the
purpose of the collection is. And knowing the background
of these two major iconic houses. And knowing the energy
that they bring separately. It’s like merging them
together and making it your own. So, that’s what I am doing! I don’t know what
everybody else is doing. But I am just over the moon. Can you tell me who
taught you to walk? I had many runways
in my childhood home. My parents had to
sit down and watch. And of course, I learned a real walk
from the VERSACE runway 1990’s. Seeing all those girls
doing all the twirls. And just feeling,
owning the runway. Not just giving stone faces. Really bringing a
personality to the walk. It’s just what it’s about. You don’t just want to
see someone walk down a runway and not bring
anything to the garment. So, all the legends doing
the runway walk in the 1990’s. That’s where I
took my walk from! Really? Yes! Yes. I would watch
YouTube videos. And just gag. A girl can have so much
fun as a model sometimes. You’re constantly on stage but
also making the stage your own. I love when a girl feels
good and looks good. I love a strong walk. I
love a confident walk. I think about the statement “I
own everything, everything is mine” as I’m walking down the
runway. And Pooh! It comes out! What do you think
would be the walk for this? The walk? You can’t do VERSACE. You
can’t do FENDI. You need to do… FENDACE. I just think it’s rich. I
think it’s expensive. That’s the walk. Like a very confident,
elegant woman. Who knows she’s
beautiful inside out. That’s how I’m
going to walk anyway. Icons of the 1990’s
Kristen McMenamy was also on stage. But her point of view was, when it’s over the top,
don’t overplay it too much. Be yourself and play. You know what? I have never planned what
I’m gonna do on the runway. I have never planned my walk. It goes with the music. It goes with the
energy of the crowd. And it goes with the outfit. And I do the best I can. Sometimes they fall. Sometimes I mess up. But I try. Did someone teach
you how to walk? Never. I don’t know how to walk. I trip in the
streets all the time. I’m the most clumsy person
you could ever imagine. Every once in a while, a fashion show
will try to get out of the casual walk. For its Summer 2022 collection, Virginie Viard at CHANEL,
wanted the models to emulate the runways of the
beginning of the 1990’s. When they were swirling. Interacting with each other. Playing with their bags. Teasing the photographers
at the end of the podium. CHANEL built a higher stage. Had photographers all around it. Including our own
Julien Da Costa. And of course backstage,
the models were super excited to be asked to play
a different partition! It’s my dream. It’s amazing
to be able to express yourself. Every model is
having fun with it. Each girl’s personality
is coming through. It’s incredible to
be able to smile. To look at each other.
Like they used to. To swirl. To do an
overly feminine walk. It reminds me of
the 1990’s catwalks. We are allowed to
be free. Have fun. Smile. Turn to the audience. Look at them. Pose. Just
have fun. Be ourselves. Be free. Enjoy it! What will you do on this runway? I’ll just turn around.
Like this. And that’s all. I have to make
sure I don’t fall. Be careful. Are you ok? Ready? Yes. That’s what we
were saying earlier. We really need to enjoy it now. They
don’t do catwalks like this anymore. And we won’t do it
again anytime soon. And the swirls… It’s bold. You don’t want to fall. I’m going to fall on
Julien afterwards! Stumble into other models! I almost tripped. It
can be fun though. Give it up! It has to be fun. Cheerful. Interfere
with each other. Come on. Don’t be afraid. Crazy! How was it? Incredible. Those are the shows we love. It was impressive. Why? It was warm. There
were a lot of people. Flashes. And spots get hot… What did you do? Something like that. We had a star moment there! Supermodel moment! From the 1990’s. Greaaaat! Oh wow, you undressed. I don’t know what I’m doing. You get ready. And
once you’re there, you stop thinking. It’s quite natural. What did you do? I don’t even remember. It happened so fast! I think I just
showed off a little bit. Did a little hair twirl. A wink? I should have done
a wink. But I didn’t It was fun. How did it feel? Unreal. It was our first show.
Our first CHANEL show. And you did that? Crying. It was the most
amazing experience of my life. For sure. Definitely on the list. How was it there? Amazing. Surreal! Normally, you have
to walk straight. And they were
like “just be you.” And who was in the audience? Lily Rose Depp
and Kristen Stewart! And the Kpop megastar Jennie. From Blackpink. Who
clearly enjoyed the new deal! Honestly, it was one of the most
energetic shows that I’ve been to. It was so much fun. The presence of the
photographers everywhere… It felt like I was at a real
runway. It was amazing. It was so fun! And so buoyant. I felt like I was watching
a show of bubbles. Everyone was
floating. It was beautiful. What did you think of the
models doing their thing? When you think
of a fashion runway you imagine everyone
solemnly walking down. And presenting the clothing. Because they're serious. The clothes
are more important than the girls! But here the girls felt
like they loved themselves. It was an homage to the 1990’s, but it felt so modern. This is what we want right now. We want to be able to laugh
at ourselves and at each other. And enjoy it.
And feel beautiful. I love that they were
whipping their hair around. It felt like a mix between a concert
and a fashion show. I loved it. This is my last show. So
I’m drinking champagne. Gonna go for a nice lunch.
Gonna go for a nice dinner. I love fashion week! Suddenly! But how are you
feeling? Dead inside. I think the best thing you can do
is just take good care of yourself. Rest when you can. And have strict boundaries. If you work too hard and are
exhausted, it’s ok to say no to something Because your sanity is
more important than a show. I don’t think there is a trick. I think you get tired. Compeed. Excuse me? Bandages. Compeed. Oh yes. I think, talking to
my close friends. And calling my family.
It’s very important. And sleep. Prioritize sleep. Sleep anywhere you
can. In the makeup chair. In the bed. On the floor. Anywhere. And you’ll be…ok. And drinking water. And coffee. And matcha. I love
matcha! I’m obsessed. Compeed. That’s useful. It’s a must-have. Laugh. Really. Just keep on laughing.
And making jokes. Otherwise it becomes very sad. I think that’s the
best way to keep it. And not to be on
your phone all the time. Doing Instagram. It’s nice to look up. Look
at other people. And laugh. With this guy for example? He’s the best! We’ve been
laughing for…Thirty years. Fifty years! We’re just getting started! We’ve had a lot of
fun. Still having fun. It’s so nice. We’ve got so many
girls we get to do this all together. When one of us feels
tired we all help each other. At this point, we’re on
our third week together. So we’re all feeling
the same way. We’re all very tired. And
we all support each other. It’s like “you’re
going to be ok!” A lot of hugs. Some wine
at night. That usually helps. But lots of sleep. I love you! Voilà this was our second masterclass
