How to Uncap/Cap FPS in CS 2 | Easy Guide

if you're playing CS2 it's great to have high FPS counts but having FPS too high can use tons of power generate tons of Heat fan noise and of course if you're streaming or recording it could cause overloading in OBS and things like that capping your frames is probably something you'd want to do or even uncapping them that's exactly what this video shows you here this isn't a simple option in your options menu instead it's a console command don't worry it's super simple first of all if you don't already have your console enabled head across to settings in the top left over here head across to the game section and at the very top under game you should see enable developer console make sure that this is set to yes it should by default be the TA key the key right below escape the squiggly line pressing it should open up the console like this if it doesn't check the keyboard and mouse section and scrolling all the way down to UI Keys you should find toggle console once it's open simply type in fps uncore Max space followed by a number in order to cap your FPS to maybe 120 type in 120 and hit enter it's instant you can do this at any time even in game you can do 60 300 one of them but to uncap your FPS simply type in zero and hit enter just like I've done you'll see it jumps all the way up to 120 and that seems to be about what I'm getting on the main menu here FPS Max Z will uncap your FPS don't believe me type in find FPS Max and it'll tell you exactly what it does FPS max value zero default 400 frame rate Limited Z equals No Limit the main menu seems to be limited to 120 and you can change this using FPS Max UI and even FPS Max tools so FPS Max UI you can cap your main menu frames to maybe don't know 60 Etc and you should see it immediately adjusts if for some reason your FPS isn't going higher than a certain number you probably have vsync enabled in the settings window head across to video and you should see refresh rate here if I set this to full screen you can set your max refresh rate here simp make sure it matches your monitor then on the advanced video tab you should find wait for vertical sync make sure that this is disabled that way your frames won't be locked to whatever your monitor is actually pumping out there's tons of reasons to cap or uncap your FPS and that's what you've learned how to do in this video thank you for watching my as me troubleshoot and I'll see you all next time ciao
