all right so here we go we've got them in our front yard and they trim this down yesterday and there's still a few spots it was it was just like this it was this long so know it's hard to tell I'll go stand in it I mean it was it was tall like this there some spots just like this so I mean I'm standing here this is up past my knee and they mowed that thing down I'll bet they'll do another good job on it today hi Daddy hi baby what are you guys doing I'm to [Applause] move them a little more water come on there you Go's new batch of laying hens when you put them out like a week ago right [Music] they're loving it they're getting getting big out on Fresh grass we just moved the tractor grass so fresh grass and then we still have the Bruder right behind Natalie there we still because there's still babies just in case we give them that heat at night it's still pretty cold at night all right so we're going to move these girls we're going to flop them so we still need to we need to maintain this corner here because we are you can see we've got the jumper there so we'll maintain this corner so we can continue to jump and we'll just make that the edge we'll flop this whole fence what's that wherever we're good now God [Music] [Applause] so we wanted to maintain this corner so we can continue to jump we've got one Energizer so we'll jump here to [Music] here that way we're using one Energizer for two Nets you can see what these hens did so just in one week from there now they're under fresh grass we've got nice poop patties over there from the cows so they'll do their thing we'll just continue to flop these girls parallel to to that fence so we can continue to use one Energizer Natalie has scobby so these are Scoobies from uh from the cucha that we made she has so this is really really good stuff for them uh there's like three or four Scoobies in this all right today is Monday May 20th my goodness I ke talking with Natalie this weekend I thought we had two more weeks before Memorial but that's not the case Memorial is this coming weekend which we're super excited about we're getting that high tunnel prepped behind us we're going to get the garden going we always plant on Memorial Weekend in the past we've done it around Mother's Day because it's usually beautiful around Mother's Day and then inevitably we'll get a frost um after Mother's Day so we've always held off until Memorial weekend so we've got a big weekend of planting which we're super excited about get back to our veggies we are still using um tomatoes that we we froze from last year and we'll use for sauces we're we're down to like two more I think Natalie said we've got two more batches of tomatoes still going through pickles from last year but we are running out so um excited to to start planting so we've got a lot going on we got bees I'll I'll take you guys what baby I'll take you over to check out the bees bees are doing great we're going to open up the hive this weekend as well just check on them do a hive check turkeys we're down to we've lost four so we lost two in the first 48 hours and and the Hatchery will replace those two however we lost two more so two more so four total 12 hours later so we're going to let them know hey we lost we basically lost four in the first two days hopefully hopefully they will uh refund those or at least send out a few more here's the challenge with that and we always forget we do this every year turkeys are very difficult to raise in the first few weeks um for whatever reason pts they they die a lot they're they're just they die um you know chicks die too but I swear the the chickens they're just very uh they're very touchy in those first few weeks so we ordered 16 uh this go around we're down to down to 12 so we've lost about 30% of them okay okay so here's here's the challenge with that we're going to let them know we don't even know I mean ideal situation they send four more chicks today and we get them Wednesday and the the or chicks pts four more pts today and we get them Wednesday and they're a week apart that's the best case situation scenario that never happens usually they're 3 weeks out four weeks out and now we're running into multiple Harvest days for turkeys which we want to avoid at all costs it the the time and energy to set up tear down when you're harvesting is it's not even worth doing it for a couple we had to do it last year just because of the same situation um so note to future self we were talking about this uh this weekend next year I think we're just going to order we're going to order 20 assume we're going to lose 30% so that's going to be six we might lose one or two along the way so if we've got 20 we lose six within the first few weeks or or whatever that looks like and then maybe one or two over the course of raising that still gives us our 12 that we need our our 12 turkeys that we need come Harvest day and we have one Harvest day um that's the ideal situation you know right now if these 12 can make it we're we're fine we would still love uh hey if they can get us four more out here this week we'll take them but we'll we'll we'll kind of see how that goes let's see it go a little closer to her there you go there you go did she get it there let her have it let go good job let's say let's go uhoh hey hey don't mess with the fence give it to mayel mayel will eat it yeah ma the kitties and all right so yesterday I talked about this earlier we put the cows out on the front yard and I was talking about how free basically we're getting free Lawn Care turning free Lawn Care into fresh a282 milk and beef and bacon because look at all this excess we got from Annabelle this is our this is our scrap bucket that's that's why it's all nasty we don't drink this stuff um this is our our scraps from the kitchen we got a a solid two gallons off of her she was full so all the grass she ate yesterday basically mowing our front yard turned into two gallons for us plus the other the beef cows were eating on it so we're going to turn that into beef and now we're going to turn this into bacon as well cuz I'm going to give this to these Piggies they're going to love it I love the uh I love the thought of turning free lawn care I know I've said this so many times but turning free Lawn Care into fresh A2 A2 milk as well as beef cuz I've got my beavs eating and then I just added another aspect we're also turning what they did here into bacon because Annabelle was in here mowing this down all the nutrition from the grate yesterday which was right here went into producing milk we got two gallons that that Natalie came home and filtered and and were chilling and then we had that excess that I just fed to the to the pigs so essentially turning free Lawn Care into bacon as well because the pigs are fattening up from the from the fresh milk so all right I'm done hope you guys have a wonderful wonderful week we'll catch you guys next time
