How To Start Your Own Save File (+ LOTS of Tips, Advice & Mods) | The Sims 4

hello everyone welcome or welcome back to my channel in this video I will be talking about and showing you how to start your own save file since I tend to get a lot of questions about my own what Lots I use and all of that so in this video I will be covering my favorite templates to start out with how to actually look and find good Gallery lots and basically everything else that has to do with customizing your save file and adjusting it to your own taste so I really hope that this video will be helpful to you and there is a link in the description that will take you to a temper post I made with all of the links that you need or the save files and some of the other mods and things I'm talking about in this video so definitely check that out I do want to start out with the first and most important step which is choosing your templates or I guess your save file so my personal favorite is the empty safe which is by seriously Sims so as the name already kind of gives it away this basically removes all of the builds and let's just start out with a complete blank slce which I love because it's so much easier to keep an overview of your progress with your save file and I'm very picky and I'm very precise in what I want for my save file so if you also like that and you just want everything very organized then I would definitely suggest you go for this one however if you would prefer to start out with the save file that already has lots and Sims that you can just give makeovers to or renovate or just adjust a few things then I also have the one by Sim lissy and the one by Lil simsy I have used both of these before I started my own save file which was about a year ago now I believe so I would definitely recommend both of these if you don't want to start out with a completely blank slate so now I will be showing you how how to actually start the save file once you're in game it's very easy to install the save file by the way you can just Google how to install save file Sims 4 all you do is basically just pull the file into your saves folder so for me I only downloaded the seriously Sims blank save file just to show you how to start it so these are both my save files this is my main save I just changed the season to summer for the video since it just looks so much better in my opinion I actually only have one save at a time you can just rename this to whatever name you want for your save file so just for the video let's call it new save file and then just click on play so once it's loaded into the save just choose any Vault that you want to start in as you can see the safe is completely empty there is only one other household and you can just remove that if you don't want them so in my eyes you would only use this same safe or play in the safe if you're working on it or picking out the builds or Sims for it and not actually do any gameplay here once you're like happy with how your Sai looks and you actually want to start a household then Call It Whatever household name you're playing with in the saile if that makes sense so that is what I would suggest I personally don't do this because at the moment I don't really do a lot of gameplay I mostly just focus on creating content but if I had like a legacy or I know that I will be playing a lot with a certain household I would definitely have multiple saves using my original save file okay so I hope that you understood what I mean but before I give you some more tips on how to customize your save file and some potential ideas that you can use I will head back and sue my own save so now that we are back in my own save file the first tip that I would like to give you guys is think about what kind of places the Ws in the Sims would be in real life so for example Willow Creek for me resembles New Orleans so that is the kind of style and architecture style I went with in this world and for example I did the same thing in brindleton Bay which I turned into New England and the reason why I love doing this so much is because it really helps you find and cultivat a cohesive style for each world so all of the houses even if they're different they still kind of match and I really love how organized and clean it looks I have this with a lot of WS for example windenburg is kind of like Germany and Austria like a mix of them in my eyes torosa is Italy sulani is Tahiti delsa Valley is California or Los Angeles I have a few more listed on my TBL if you need some more inspiration but that is definitely one of my favorite things to do I would like to add leave love but you did not find a build that you really love empty which is also why the blank save is my favorite one it just kind of tells you what you completed and which Lots you still need to find a build for so that is what I do in most of them actually I did not complete most of my WS yet so you can see in wenburg I have quite a few empty ones and with that being said I would like to go to the next point which is how I find really beautiful Builds on a gallery I do want to point out that I have previously made a video of my favorite Gallery builds or at least some of them because I have found a lot more since then so I might make another video of that let me know if you want to see that or even like a save file tour where I go through each VA and kind of show you guys the Lots or maybe not each VA but at least the ones I've completed but until then definitely check out that video on my channel I also have a complete list of 66 of my favorite Gallery creators and my resources also on my Tumblr and lastly I also have a hashtag on my Tumblr where I answer people's questions about which builds I'm using on specific Lots you can definitely have a look at that hashtag or if there's any that you are interested in and that I did not answer you can head over to my tempate but I ask of you to please not ask for more than four builds at a time it makes it easier for me so please keep that in mind and I think even if you don't have an account SS on templ you can still send me a question I just don't like to answer them in the comments because it's just a lot more work for me and I like to have them all in one place so now with all of that out of the way now I will be showing you how I actually find all of these builds first thing of course you want to head onto the gallery let me just give you an example if I'm looking for a build in bu Creek there's different kind of approaches you can do the first one is if you have kind of a real life version of Willow Creek in mind like I did with New Orleans what I did is just use the hash noelin and I usually like to sort either my popular now or most popular and you can already see I'm finding so many beautiful builds in the new orene style and I actually have lots of these already placed so this is really a great method of find builds that already have a specific style so if you don't have any real life version you just want to find builds for Willow Creek I would just put the W Creek hashtag and let's say you're looking for a build for this slot so it's 40 by 30 and you want it to be a residential lot then I would just filter by lots and 40 * 30 and specify that it's a residential lot so there are multiple Lots that are actually 40 by 30 in bu Creek but you can already see lots of different houses it all look really amazing so that is another way that you can find builds so this is actually how I would not advise to search for Lots sometimes you can obviously still find good Lots but let's say you're looking for a gym for oasa Springs and you're just going to search OA Springs gym and let's say the Lots is 30 times 20 and it's a gym so while you still will find some really nice builds because you put the name in the title it kind of narrows it down because some people either have a different language let's say they put the name in French so it won't show up or they just call it something else and because you specified a name for it dead L won't show up now so what I would do instead is just reset the search bar and then use the hashtag oasa Springs so now you already can see that I found a lot more gyms than the previous one or at least they look quite different so this is how I usually search for my builds and they are all gyms since you specified that in the lot type I hope that this was helpful because I tend to get a lot of questions about how to search for them and how I find the ones that I'm using so that is basically my whole process now there are a few mods that I also want to talk about if you're not interested in mods you can obviously just skip past this but these are very essential to my own s file so I highly recommend you to check them out if you're open to adding mods into your game the first one is this map replacement that I'm using these ones are my alltime favorites and I've talked about them a few times I believe these are by desan love this art style of them so much and they go up to to mount karabi which came with Snow Escape so unfortunately there are not yet any released for the T that came out after snowy Escape but I am willing to wait for them because they just look so amazing look at how beautiful this one is so these are by far my absolute favorite ones to use next is a really amazing mod that may be a bit complicated if you're not familiar with it so if you're willing to try it out I definitely would recommend it um it really allows you to further customize your Sims and basically add objects into the walls that you normally can't really add I won't be giving a tutorial since I already linked one by the actra grade of this but I have used this to change apartment Windows to add cars and even sheep and cows into the area in brindleton Bay With The Big Field and I just love how it looks and I love really customizing my safe file and this mod is perfect for that so the next mod is the no random townies and this one basically prevents the game from spawning and generating new townies if you don't have this one then the game basically keeps generating and randomizing new townies so you will always have those really weird looking ones with weird outfits and because I like to give all my Sims makeovers and kind of style them myself or make them myself from scratch I really cannot handle playing without this mod it's just such a necessity for me because now it does not generate any new Sims at all you do need to keep in mind to have enough unemployed Sims that can f the roles of NPC jobs so those are the jobs like mailman waitress waiter the chefs at restaurants and all of that so definitely make sure that you have enough unemployed Sims in your game for that otherwise you will not be able to use the Lots as intended and then the last mod is also such a great addition so this one basically makes it so that Sims that for example live in Willow Creek only spawn in Willow Creek unless you invite them somewhere else so that will basically keep Sims in the residential worlds which just makes it so much more realistic there is also a number of settings that you can access by holding shift and clicking on the mailbox obious Sims Lots click on Sim spawn overhaul so here you can kind of play around with the settings and have a look at them so for example this one prefer local venue Sims un enabled Sims who are visiting a venue will preferably be Sims who live in the current world which is just so much better it's such an improvement for me but yes you can just have a look at all of these settings yourself and decide which ones you want to enable and which ones you don't but I think that actually includes everything that I wanted to discuss in this video I really
