you guys and gal sweet project cars here with cool trick in affordable ways and simple ways for the do-it-yourselfer we've got ourselves here a little project Mercedes for a customer this is a s 500 C and you can see by this hood I just have to do a video on it it is horribly faded and we're going to share with you how to fix that I can't I can't resist doing a video on it but also on these wheels customers leg quite a challenge on us they want these rims to look like these new center cabs plastic chrome they want those rims to look like that we're going to see what we can do turn those rims into that hang in there because we're going to call this our Mercedes project we are on our 94 or s 500c project car and we are getting ready to do this hood from beginning to end worst case scenario - gorgeous without repainting as you can see this is a horrible mess let me share with you what we're going to be dealing with and how bad this truly is this is one of the worst faded paint jobs out there that we have seen in a long time not only does it have the fading but it has scratches right here we're going to take those out now what we're going to do is half the hood so you can see that you can take the worst pain you've ever seen and make it look gorgeous we're going to use our mothers some people ask how does mothers do this when it's made for metal and that kind of stuff Wow to us if you can have limited amount of products in your garage you don't have to buy all these gimmick products just get what works then you'll find out why we use mothers it does the job now if you find that your buffer when you're using your compounding pad which is what we're going to use first if you find your buffer is grabbing you need to tilt your buffer on more of an angle now I usually don't do a spot this big but I want to do it quick for the video and you can cover your windshield with a blanket or whatever you want to do I usually figure you covering up something so you don't get polish and that kind of stuff on it is common sense so you can cover it up if you feel you need to I don't because I know we need to wash the car [Music] [Applause] now we're going to do this a couple of times to get the faded part of the paint where it needs to be alright it's getting better we hit it three times quick not a lot of time on there now we're going to go with our Wooley compounding pad and some more mothers and one thing you'll find out if you do this and the weather's too warm or you do it outside it'll dry up on you too quick and you'll have a real catastrophe on your hands if that happens then you've got to use a little bit of water to be able to get the mothers to come back alive so you can buff it out but you want to do this not in the Sun by any means now the owner of this tyre thought about having it all repainted and he doesn't have the money right now to do it all because it's a easily five to six thousand dollar paint job and he wanted to see if we can revive this enough that'll get him buy a couple more years until he saves his money so that's what we're really doing here but it should be repainted it's that bad but we're going to see what kind of magic suite project cars has in store for it and with a little help from our debunking let's see what we can do people ask all the time why do we use a single-action buffer compared to a DA I will tell you if you're starting out just by the single action because you can control it easier it gets the job done faster and with any buffer you don't want to set on an area you'll burn through the clear no matter who you are even if you're a professional or not you want to keep it moving okay that's all you got to do is just keep it moving set your rpms at about twenty five to twenty seven hundred years now what we're done with this I'll let you be the judge on if this is good enough to get the guy by for a couple of years until he gets the money to have the car repainted so mighty turtle rubbing compound now we're using the 3m fluffy compounding pad [Applause] now we use our three polishing pad and go over it because there is a little residue of the rubbing compound still on there we do not want to put any wax on this because we are going to ceramic coated all the tools will be in the shemar of the video description not a bad shine when you think about the fact that it's just rubbing compound let's take a closer look look at the reflection of that light and the faded area is pretty much gone and the reflection of this thing I did a little area right there so you can see it the light and then I move over here not good so let's ceramic coat test we're going to clean it with rubbing alcohol put the coating on and I'll come back and show you exactly how we make it shine all right we're going to use our hundred ninety-nine percent rubbing alcohol this will take any wax that by chance got on there now I will get a microfiber towel and buff it off now that's not a bad shine when you consider there's not an ounce of wax on that car I'm not going to do these vents up here until I do the whole hood because I still got to do the other side yet all right let's do our ceramic coating now now as you do this here's a few tips that will help you do not do it outside on a windy day it dries out too quick and you will get debris in it if you have a dusty area that you're trying to do this don't do it do this in an area where it's no wind and it's clean because if you get stuff in it before you buff it off and it starts its drying period you're going to have issues now we're going to put this on heavy and I'm going to let it set up and let it get to the point where it's tacky and had a little drag and I'll do two hands with two brand new microfibers now we'll go the opposite direction daang it's pretty warm here in Michigan it's about 80 degrees here in the garage about 98 degrees outside well let that dry up and we'll come back and buff it out and then I'll get the camera up there so you can see it but it's going to be a night and day difference if you can restore your paint by doing this versus a paint job why not do it okay it's ready you can see the smear see that smear right there that tells you it's ready to go let's have at it watch this see that this is my dual exhaust buffing two hands make sure you flip your cloth I get the initial part off first then go back and hit it again after you do this you'll not have to worry about dust and lint and anything else land you got it and sticking to it then as you go you just lightly buff to get the shine then we'll peel the tape off so you can see the difference between horrible and a lot better let's wipe the dust off this first don't have to worry about damaging this paint on this side already horrible SuperDuper air nozzle now do you think it's a little bit better there you go my friends thank you for being here with us you can do it you can do it
