foreign [Music] I will show you how to install openvpn on pfSense step by step setting up a VPN will enable you to connect remotely to your home network or office Network to access resources on those networks in this video I'm using a static public IP address on pfSense if you do not have a static external IP address you must set up ddns ddns stands for Dynamic DNS and it tracks your external IP address which mostly changes if your router is connected via DHCP to your service provider so ddns ensures that you always connect to your home network even if the IP address changes you can use a service like Duck DNS or no IP to set up ddns on pfSense I will come up with a video on how to do that and I will put it up in the description [Music] [Music] select VPN and then click on openvpn [Music] you can manually add the openvpn server but it is much easier using the wizard we can use the pfSense openvpn wizard to help us with the setup process [Music] on the type of server choose local user access [Music] [Music] create a new certificate Authority and give it a descriptive name [Music] foreign these are optional if you want you can leave them empty [Music] next create a server certificate give it a descriptive name [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] tcpip version 4 and 6 on all interfaces [Music] foreign setting choose an IP range that is not in use on your network as your tunnel Network these are the IP addresses that will be used by your VPN clients foreign [Music] if you don't want to access the local network when you connect to your VPN you can leave this field empty [Music] you can also specify the maximum number of clients that can connect to your server [Music] check both check marks to create the firewall rules [Music] [Music] click on finish this will install the openvpn server foreign [Music] we need to do is create a VPN user or a user that will access the VPN you can create several users if you want a number of people to access your VPN [Music] [Music] this is the certificate Authority we created earlier click on save to save the changes [Music] let us now install the client export package this will enable us download our openvpn installer package to install on our client computers like Windows Mac or Linux [Music] search for openvpn client export [Music] click on install to install the package wait for the package to finish installing don't refresh the browser relief [Music] [Music] click on client export [Music] choose your VPN server and for hostname resolution like I mentioned in the beginning the PF sense I'm using is using a public static IP address at the WAN interface so I will choose interface IP address if you have set up ddns that is if you are connected by dhcpdysp you can select it [Music] I'm using a Windows machine so I will download the client for Windows [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] let us now install the client openvpn software on the client computer that will connect to the VPN [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] just right click on the small Network icon to connect to your VPN enter your username and password you created in pfSense for VPN access foreign [Music] machine is now connected and it has picked up an IP address the IP address is in the IP range we entered in the tunnel Network as you can see now let me check if I'm able to Ping any machine in my local area network [Music] foreign is working just fine thanks for watching please like the video And subscribe to my channel this will help my channel to grow
