create a voice that sounds like you on your iPhone iPad or Mac then use it with assistive communication apps entering phone calls and FaceTime conversations to speak out loud even on your Apple watch here's how to set up and use personal voice and live speech on your iPhone or iPad starting in iOS 17 and iPad OS 17. we'll show you how to create your personal voice how to turn on live speech and how to use it to speak with others in real time before you start recording make sure you're in a quiet room with minimal echo or background noise your personal voice will be created securely on your iPhone or iPad which might need to finish processing overnight this will require your device to be locked and charging while it completes all set let's start by creating our personal voice in settings scroll down and tap accessibility [Music] then scroll down and tap personal voice [Music] tap create a personal voice and use face ID Touch ID or your passcode to authenticate your identity and securely get started you'll be asked to record 150 randomly chosen phrases with your voice which takes about 15 minutes tap continue when you're ready and follow the prompts when the first phrase appears tap the record button and begin speaking it's made up of areas in the North and South tap the pause button if you want to pause recording while paused you can tap the preview button if you want to hear an example of the phrase by default the next phrase will automatically appear when you stop speaking but if you want it to stop at each phrase instead you can tap continuous recording and then change it to exit at any time you can tap done in the upper left corner your progress will be saved and you can come back to finish recording the phrases later tap the redo button if you want to record the phrase again it's made up of areas in the North and South when you're done recording the phrases tap continue your personal voice will be securely stored on your iPhone or iPad it might need to finish processing overnight and your device must be locked and charging if you have notifications turned on you'll be notified when your personal voice is ready to use but you can check its progress at any time in settings tap OK when you're done [Music] once your personal voice has been created you can use it with live speech which lets you type what you want to say so you can be heard out loud use it to speak with assistive communication apps on calls and through the speakers on your device if you're in the same room in settings tap accessibility scroll down and tap live speech then tap to turn on live speech you can tap favorite phrases to add common phrases you use often like your regular coffee order or a familiar greeting tap the default voice to change it then select one of the preset voices or tap your personal voice which is at the top of the list Tap The Voice you've selected again to confirm and tap the back arrow in the upper left corner when you're done [Music] now we'll show you how to use live speech during real-time conversations like when you're on a call or in the same room with friends and family just triple click the side or top button depending on your device and live speech will appear on your screen you can also add live speech to Assistive Touch assign it to backtab or use switch control to activate it now type what you want to say [Music] and tap send can you order me a coffee sure what would you like you can also tap the phrases button [Music] and tap one of your pre-made favorite phrases to quickly chime in during Lively conversations in medium of no quality with low foam and vanilla syrup please I'm on it and that's how to set up your personal voice and use it with live speech to find out more about the accessibility features on your Apple devices subscribe to the Apple support YouTube channel or check out our accessibility playlist to keep learning you can only use personal voice on your device to create a voice that sounds like you using your own voice for your personal non-commercial use your legacy contact won't be able to access your personal voice personal voice can be created using iPhone iPad and Mac with apple silicon and will be available in English some sequences in this video were shortened [Music]
