yeah that's got a lot of sharp nails in it man don't stab yourself this is how you rear up a house first of all you got to take out all the bad wood which we did with this beautiful plywood and then we got to rip off all these bad shingles and tear all that stuff off throw it in the garbage truck and so what we did was a tore up the whole old roof and we threw all the garbage here and of course we're gonna haul that away we've got the extra wood here don't want to throw that away though I think I might keep that wood how many times do you cut yourself how's their luck justice piece here got to retype that out but do you think that one right there is that look like it's water damage too yeah now we can see it better yeah this part here we gotta cut out [Music] so it's important when you do this rear up that you tie it in properly with the existing hip roof on this flat roof until we got to clear all this out and make sure we've got a good seal all the way down on top here these guys are getting a good job right now and then we got to redo all the fascia and you got to pull this piece of it out checking for nails and that tool right there will pop the meal right out and pull the strap off so if you want to do rough and you got to get some of those tools looks pretty good man this one looks all good here this looks a little like weathered there do you think that's that's my mom and this is a little high here huh so tell me a little bit about your process how you do it make a video for you got youtube video yeah so just tear it off pull all the nails out replace the rotten wood and then you'll see okay cool and we can videotape it I'll make you a little bit infinity so this is what it looks like underneath for the what do you think about this one 2x4 here so we'll put it inside there that fascia look okay yes this Gabon and this is the destruction to give tensile strength to the structure so we're almost to the point where we're going to put the peel and stick and then our tar paper and all that as you can see rebuilding it off making it look good put a drip let down after here he comes with the nail gun we're gonna start nailing her hard work he's marking it off so he'll know and of course we got to do a little bit more work on this I put that and this stuff right here it's called feeling sick that's the new stuff man back in the old days so you lay it out you measure it off these guys have zero fear of heights after you do it then you lose it a little bit you don't it doesn't bother you as much but when you first come when I first come up and I stand at the edge I'm like I'm right here [Music] are we gonna be good with this marine right here we're still okay don't fall off the RUF please okay too much rank you start off with just a half right and that's your first one I see how you do it now so you get it stuck there and then you pull it from the bottom now we're putting on the front edge so what they do is they take a half sheet and they roll it on there then they're gonna roll full sheet over the top of everything so you got a double bit of barrier and if you notice he pulls the covering off and then it just sets there in stick so this is a peel and stick process which is much faster and more efficient than the old way and then we roll it down all the way he's checking it out making sure and then he kind of measures it it's nice and even on the end cuts it damn done probably do a little bit of an overlap just in case so that they they can always trim it as you can see he's smashing it down getting it nice and stuff and now we got to roll the other two out so we stuck the one half and then we pulled back the other side alright so it goes to the 18 mark I don't know what that means oh right there oh I see so this one has to go to the 18 that's that's why that's how he's rolling it out so we go half and half and half all the way and then this is the interesting part so you pull one side and then it sticks and then you pull the other side so he's pulling the first side and then you're gonna bend that side over to do the other side I'm learning man I'm gonna start working with you guys next week except for I require more money and I don't want to do a lot of work I just want to watch I would like to be the project manager please all right looking good I'm learning stop here so you put put extra all the way to here and then we put these old shingles back on and it'll be a great keep bringing new oh is it all right and that'll be a good enough barrier yeah what about like the caps on the anterior you do all that I mean you know a lot of people got a degree in I don't know what the hell they're doing like these guys right here good mechanics right so do we do hot mop anymore trying to get at it this is better I think so over here we throw our garbage and as you can see it's not that much really you know so we didn't need a big dumpster or anything but like those those sheets there that's cool if I take oh so what is this right here that's the 30 pump but that doesn't peel and stick right that's okay that's the UH that's the what they call it like a tar paper right yeah and so he's just gonna go and that's the and that's the big guitar right this so he's gonna slip that underneath and that's going to give us in case it shouldn't pull line little spots of water so there's no way to get it perfect pull it up and we got to get about four inches good barrier and looks good so do we do any more the peel-and-stick that's why they overdo it and we're content making it fit good so this is the roller it weighs 80 pounds luckily we got Hercules here he's lifting it one hand at 80 pounds ladies and gentlemen right now we got to roll this thing it's got an adjustment replacing this fascia over here as you can see they're doing a great job and that's gonna be all redone and we're gonna put some drip ledge on got to be cut and everything is you can see they already got this one on looking good get a better angle here so he's gonna cut it up there then we put it right there as you can see they are diligently working and now we've got an excellent job we got new fascia over here and we're putting on a new one by two strips and rebuilt this whole thing measuring it let me put it there as you can see there's SK been a great job excellent workmanship very well done on first layer and the final one we put it over he's just chilling all right so there's a little drip edge that we're starting to put on she's got to finish up the fish on this end and put it on over there these guys work with solid gold nails and silver Nuggets these are galvanized and hopefully they don't oxidize this is painted with a primer so that when that you put the final layer on it here's BAM now we wait for the inspector to check it all out he's got to come and make sure we got enough nails I think we do you need me to help you do something hard whoops we'll be okay just pops right back down now we gotta put one more on top of that at the 18 mark right and then slide it on and was this cool that goes on top of this one he's putting like at the 12 mark but I guess you're gonna slide it more under Hercules again bringing up the heavy stuff doing the heavy lifting he's doing the hard physical labor heaviest thing I carry is a camera really not even the camera phone or [Music] [Music] come in handy for cutting this drip edge just reverse it to come on the other side right so that's how you get a corner he uses a triangle type of so that you can get in there cut it you do a little bit of an angle and there he's got his corner very well done is it nice and tight we've got what they would call a galvanized Valley we're going to put right in here and he's putting a little edge on it trying to get it down in there so we're gonna cut it so this is this is basically just par right yeah it's what do they call it nasty nasty curveball and this has to be done underneath all these edges I would imagine yeah so you get a good seal here because this is where you could have moisture coming through oh that's why you find that so the reason that you you prime it is so that P so this stop will seconds okay okay so any place that water can be in and they're gonna put this mastic or Bowl on so they're gonna go over the whole edge of this a galvanized Valley that they've installed and over all of the all of the nail heads so that keeps us nice and keeps the water from getting through rolling out the cap sheet now this has a sticky stuff on the back too doesn't it okay he's acting as a weight on that side and then over here we're trying to get it as tight as possible without falling off the roof so this is the whole new thing if we before they never had this or maybe like you know a hundred years ago and I did did a row always good to have a crew of guys who know what they're doing and that SK roofing they will handle all your roofing needs so give them a call folks and then of course you also want to roll as you can see they're kind of running it right on that little edge darker edge so that keeps the laps so that's gonna run right to the edge of that yeah you don't go over right ok they're gonna firstly going to roll it out then they're going to Center it and they're going to tighten it up and we're gonna do the adhesive so now we hold both sides so there's there's a cover on each side and they're both sticky so now when you slide that over that it he adheres to it and then the bottom of this just adheres Beauty our undercoat which what do we call the one that was underneath basement bases we got a base seat and then the top seat is attached to cap will be tapping that base heat would be underneath your foundation go ahead so the cap sheets a nice light color so that it can reflect the sun's rays so they stay a little cooler in the summer so he's he's gonna kind of like set it they're gonna see how he does this he's got to get it perfect tootin oh nice good job we're gonna roll that and he rolls it all the way to the end and then over here is the little pole both sides at the same time now he's pulling both of the what would you call those little bat prophylactic that goes over the sticky part I just call it the peel the peel so he's gonna pull peels on both sides and that's gonna give the two sticky parts and here we go now does that stuff come off your hands easy with hydrochloric acid yeah no problem again roll her out now he is lying that he's using right here this is gonna be the line that we're gonna mark it with and just like your regular chalk line we're gonna pop it up beautiful straight line here is the finished product check it out brand-new flat roof well done if you enjoyed this video 3 please feel
