hi this is John Reynolds with Solomon colors and brickform and today I'm going to show you how to use brickform strip it strip it is an acrylic sealer stripper for water-based and solvent-based sealers we'll get on with the rest of video show you how to do this [Music] so the slab we're working on today has been here for about seven or eight years it was stamped with powdered release and it's got about two or three coats of our gemseal 400 on here you can see the slab it's got some tire tracks on it here it's got some sealer that's starting to wear off just from from age so when we're applying the strip and it's really important to use proper personal protective equipment we want to make sure we have some good gloves want to have eye protection make sure that our boots are waterproof and are sort of skid resistant boots because when this product gets gets going it can be a little slippery so we want to make sure we've got some good skid resistance it's really important to check our surroundings we want to be cognizant and aware of any plant life or grass ponds pools stuff like that we don't want this product to go into there after we've emulsified the sealer so we want to make sure that we collect this stuff after we're done with the emulsification process also remember if you're using this product indoors it has a strong Citrus smell so you really want to make sure that you ventilate get windows open get fans going that way that Citrus smell doesn't get overpowering the other thing you may want to do inside is wear a respirator and that'll help just in in the comfort of using this product indoors [Music] when we go to a product we want a good high quality sprayer like this Swiss Max acid sprayer this is a sprayer that's resistant to acid so it's also going to be resistant to our Citrus oriented nature of the stripper we've got our stripper we've got water we've got a broom for collecting our product and a shovel for collecting the product and then we've also got our floor scrubber with the Zim grip pad these are the key elements for applying strip it and stripping sealer when we apply the strip and it's really important that we keep it wet with more stripping we want to either keep it wet with Itself by reapplying over the top that keeps that reaction going we can also cover it with plastic that'll help keep things from drying out as well keep that reaction going help helping to re-emulsify the sealer when you're on a larger slab it's important to remember to work in small manageable areas if you try to coat a thousand square feet with this stuff you're just going to chase it all over the place so just do smaller to 300 square foot sections at a time that way it's easily manageable you can keep it wet with the material or cover it with plastic and not have the plastic going everywhere and and really effectively remove the sealer with the stripping [Music] so I've got the strip in here and I'm just applying it very pretty pretty heavy again we're looking at a 60 to 100 square foot coverage rate when we're done because we're going to continue to reapply this product over the top of itself on this day we want to keep it nice and wet that way it continues to work on emulsifying the sealer so that we're very effective when we go to remove it we want to let this set for a good 10 minutes 15 minutes but this is starting to emulsify very quickly so we can get on here and start scrubbing this thing we just want to keep it agitated at this point look at those tire marks come right off now you see them now you don't so how do we know when we're through the sealer a couple things you know first you're going to be able to see it you're going to see a lot of this sealer come off the surface then there's the feel it'll have more drag on the brush and then the other thing is you'll be able to hear it and that's something we probably won't be able to capture on a video but once you get that drag on the on the floor scrubber you're gonna you're gonna feel it hear it and you're also gonna see it at this point we're gonna scrub this and then we're gonna re-spray everything we're gonna let it set for a few more minutes and then we'll continue scrubbing [Music] so right now Johnny D is squeezing up all of this sealer and strip it material we're going to shovel this into a bucket and then we're going to start to clean the slab this product right here if we were to Simply pressure wash it off the slab this is what could potentially harm vegetation Landscaping all that kind of stuff this is a part that we want to contain once we get the bulk of this material off we'll be we'll be fine to start cleaning so one of the things you want to do once you get done or during the process of using strip it to make sure that you've got sealer off of the slab grab some Hydrochloric or muriatic acid and just go around the slab in different areas testing that vigorous bubbling is what we're looking for a pot of boiling water compared to a sealed surface there's no action here this is telling us that there's a lot of sealer left on that slab so far we've applied our strip-it product got all this sealer off here so the last part of this is using our eh and our nutraclean on the slab to finish the cleaning process eh is a heavy duty cleaner plus it's got a light etching material in it this is sort of an acidic product but it's much more environmentally friendly than hydrochloric acid we're going to neutralize it with our Nutri clean Nutri clean is a pH neutral cleaner we're going to dilute this with water four ounces of the Nutri clean per one gallon of water and we'll be ready to go with the neutralizing agent for more information on these two products check us out at brickform.com we've got videos and our Tech data sheet so we've completed the strip it process we've applied the strip it we've stripped off all of the old sealer we came back after rinsing and cleaning that off we used our e edge to do a deep cleaning and light etching on the surface and then we used our nutraclean to finish the cleaning process and neutralize our slab now this slab is ready for other products that you might want to put on here for example if you wanted to reseal it it's ready for reseal if you want to use stains on it you can do that for more information on strip it and all the other products on this video check us out at your local brickform distributor and at brickform.com
