what's going on guys welcome back to the channel hope you guys having a great day today we are going to be working on a Dodge truck that has a very severe exhaust leak and the upper control arms have a lot of play them we're gonna tackle one job at a time so I'm gonna make a video on a on the maybe the manifold first and then we'll do the towline later but like I said this is a brother-in-law's truck and he actually went to the dealer and got an estimate to see how much they would charge to get it fixed so here we have the service estimates that he had gotten he wanted to get the serpentine belt on it's gonna cost of hundred thirty with labor they have control arms with parts what's gonna cost him seven sixty eight lineman for 129 and the exhaust manifold doing driver and passenger side for a grand total of $1,000 so the total was gonna cost him $3,500 to get that done he did get the battery down there was reason why he went so he asked me is he about how much I would do it for him I told me I do a lot less I told me don't worry don't get it done there I can get all this stuff done for you I ordered the parts for him and that is what we're gonna be doing for him so we're kind of helping him out so there is this truck right there it is a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 with the five-seven it seems like it's always the five-seven it's not that I make the noise I'm not sure if the four sevens also do it but the supplies see all because they're basically the same thing so yeah that's what we're gonna be tackling and I'm gonna show you guys how to do it and what the drivers has worse I removed a fender liner to make it a little bit easier for me to show you guys what's going on you don't have to do it but it's gonna be kind of a pain because it's gonna be fighting the fender liner so it's got to remove some eight millimeters and some plastic clips and that comes out really easy out of your way but yeah that's get started this is out the passenger side manifold we need to start by removing these ten millimeter nuts on all four corners and take that exhaust shield off these are usually the ones that are broke obviously that one has already broke so far so luckily it's usually always this top corner one on the passenger side it's a sin removing this off and get started and guess that these are the back here the studs are I mean both back here are 18 millimeters I also recommend you get rain these bolts down with some kind of liquid a wrench so kind of silicone spray I used to slick a trench she can either be 40 but I find that this stuff works pretty good [Music] this is broken so as you can tell that stud is the one that's broke in the head so that's the one we got to extract now let's start by removing the back two bolts off the down pipe so I'm gonna take these eighteens off on the bottom and the bullets here these are gonna be 10 millimeters and the ones with the stud is gonna be 13 millimeters just want to be careful in taking these off at least crack them loose because they could break also let's take off the center ones there are two tens as you can see all of them look pretty clean then you get to this back one and it's just I'm right here so that's the one I'm gonna to extract out of there [Music] that one's fine pretty clean break what to get a center punch and just get a center punch and center punch the stud in the center and then make sure it's in the center which is crucial and then we can start drilling it out and hopefully get our tap in there and we come out so let's get a center punch first and then uh get our drill piece all right all right bread with a little bit of liquid [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] ah super easy so when I started off with it was a little carbide drill bit that is forward just too good to get the hole started and then I switched over to this reverse drill bit and yeah perfect like I said I put all these in the description below what I'm using well I mean it's super easy all right as you can tell especially without withholding you got plenty of access to get to the manifold so once I read ruin all the things off my knife a bolts we may may not have to remove this media chef depending if it's in our way so yeah it's uh something off these bolts also sorry about my shaft being in a way and bacon [Music] so my problem is the thing that made my life easier is now making my life harder we didn't fighting that manifold head off there's more that stud in the corner well it's somewhat keeping this from coming up all the way and I'm having to pull on the cat towards me so I can somehow a little bit far enough past the stud to get that manifold off I don't want to break that stud it is to make my life easier to get that off so let me see if I could just pry on the cat pipe this way towards me and at the same time fold this manifold off all right looks like we need it drill out this bottom one also as you can tell it's a miss we like this is why the driver side was so loud you can see all the black smoke past the gasket on both sides so this I was broken and actually this side I can see the stud it's broken up in here also so we need to retract that one and hold this long so yeah you can tell difference see how much TL black it is on the outside look at the other ones they're clean so Justin definitely had the leak so yeah let's get started on this one Oh guys what I'm using here is called a stud extractor I'll put the link in description below it's a very very handy school I should use this on my Raptor to remove the manifold - thuds - turbo down pipe they see these just clamp onto the stud you just remove it so now I need to get our last remaining this is a tricky one because it's in a bad spot it's on the bottom side of the head and there's stuff in the way so we need a but a nice a little marking the center it just doesn't start drilling it out hopefully he'll come out with smooth some juice [Music] you see that guy started coming out by itself [Music] so there you have a guy's broken piece like I said I put all these tools in the description below just stuff I got off Amazon some pills already had but like I said the extractor and the drill bits I got off the house on so if you when you have all the right tools and makes it look easy I said the stud attractor I also cut off Amazon I'll put all these tools and the links in description below and we can start putting it back together but one thing before I put this exhaust when I put back on it's got a lot of patches to where it's not flat it's not something to kind of use a screen disc and grinder and just just you know flute it out that way it's it's it's a it's moving it'll sit flush and there's no exhaust leaks but you can tell this at the backside that what's making these are clean and these are black so I'm gonna clean them up make sure they're nice and flat [Music] also I bought these parts these these pro pro gaskets metal gaskets and some manifold head replacements we need to get these for sure I got these off Amazon as well I'll put these also in the links in description below to where you guys can get the section kit but you need the bolts and definitely new gaskets so you're gonna want to clean off the mounting surface here because you want the gasket to make it tight seal this is all dirty and just carbon buildup problem exhaust leak so I'm gonna clean this up at the just some light sandpaper and then get it ready for the new gasket alright guys I said we're done with the exhaust manifold I actually had to replace Nathalie here because they kind of just fell apart and I luckily it had something laying around so maybe next time or if you guess I suggest you guys getting some new nuts before you take this apart because these just kind of fell apart so I luckily it hasn't that since in lock washer so I can put that back together but overall yeah it was pretty simple like I said with the tools that I had I made the job a lot easier then it's not seen some hack jobs before where you definitely needed to take the heads off because they just drilled all over the place so center punch for sure is crucial and having the right tools is definitely the most important part of the whole job but yeah that's pretty simple took listen probably 30 minutes do the whole thing on the other side but yeah that's just sorry I see what it sounds like now Wow the big difference it sounds good exhaust rattle at all alright guys that does it today's video the control arms are and the exhaust manifolds is done the truck sound and
