it's the way man let's get it the first thing you're going to want to do is headit the file new from template and go to empty it's going to open up an empty session for us the next thing we're going to do is head to our audio settings okay this is where we're going to select our audio interface in my case I got the zenq from Antelope audio so we're going to make sure that that's checked here make sure that's yours is so if you're using a Focus right scarlet make sure that's here the next thing we're going to do is set the buffer length the higher the buffer length the more processing power you're going to have for your system but the more latency the lower the buffer length the less latency you're going to have so when you're recording use the lowest buffer length in order to get the least latency so I'm going to go ahead and set mine to 128 now let's start setting up the session let's go ahead and drag our bead in now drag your bead in but not on the track but let's actually put it on the menu of the track now what this is going to allow us to do is click on audio tracks here and this is automatically going to go ahead and load this up into our mixer as well so now we have our beat here and we also have it in the mix let's go ahead and change this color let's give it a nice green see green next let's go ahead and add an audio track all we're going to do is right click go to track mode audio track and we're going to put it on insert two now as you can see we get three different icons here the left one is our audio input source the middle one is our recording settings we also have our arm and disarm recording let's go ahead and assign our input so we're going to click this icon and we're going to scroll down to the input in which our microphone is being input through so in my case my microphone is plugged in on input one so let's go ahead and assign it here now let's go to our second icon as you can see here we're going to want to put external input only this means that it's going to be only recording our external input raw okay no effects of affecting this channel it's going to be simply raw and we can affect it with our effects but it's not going to be glued on or printed on to the actual audio track and for your monitor external input when armed okay this means you're only going to hear your input when it's armed like this and when it's off you're not going to hear it now let's go ahead and give this channel a color keep it organized right click rename record here and let's go ahead and color this red because I just like to give my record here that loud red color so I know where it's at at all times and now what you're going to see when you click on your mixer you see that your record here is also red now we're definitely going to need more tracks than that so let's go ahead and create them really quickly all we're going to do is go to this check sign and right click it right click right click right click now we added four tracks just like that so let's go ahead and give these a color and assign their names too let's get it now really quickly as you can see our mixer is pretty big if yours doesn't look like this make sure you click this icon here and instead of having the compact view went ahead and chose the wide3 now looking at this mixer let's go ahead and add a few Ox channels this is where we're going to be having our effects like our reverbs our delays our doublers put these into a Ox Channel just going to save us processing power and just organize our session even more let's get right into it so let's highlight two free tracks holding down command and dragging them over right clicking and let's dock it to the right okay now as you can see we have this column cutting this off so now we have this on the right side separate from our actual mixer tracks that we're going to be able to work with so we're going to be able to see these at all times so let's go ahead and name this Reverb and let's name this a delay just make it easy let's give them a color as [Music] well give it a nice purple boom so the first thing I do always before I record is get a vocal preset all right set up our vocal chain so we're going to do is go ahead and drag in our vocal preset and in this case we're going to use um the kid Ro cutting vocal preset for wave Monopoly let's go ahead and throw that on the record track preset um the full chain is right there as you can see ready to go just like that one click and drag if you do not have your own vocal presets guys make one make a chain for stuff that you can use whenever you go on to record if you don't have one don't know what you're doing or just want a different sound make sure you check out way monopoly.com guys we have a whole bunch of different Vibes um bunch of different artist types we have a bunch of different dos logic FL Studios Pro Tools Studio One Ableton whatever you could think of we have it all right in both waves and stock versions as you can see we're using the waves version for this one so let's get right into this brang dang dang so like I said we have a couple things that we have to do to make this vocal preset work for this actual chain so the first thing we're going to do guys because you see we set our Reverb here and our Reverb here let's go ahead and take this out of our vocal chain all right we just simply mute those out and what we're just simply going to do is add a Reverb here okay it could be anything we're going to use vahalla I love this one um and for delay it could be anything we're just going to use a h delay though now that you can see we set our Reverb to this Ox Channel and we set our delay to this Ox channel so how do we get these to actually communicate with each other so all we have to do guys is click on our vocal preset track or our record track we're going to click on this Arrow and that literally routes our Reverb let's check it [Music] out so that was a lot of Reverb but how do we control how much Reverb goes to the actual track that we want it to get to this knob is showing you how much Reverb is being sent to your original signal okay so if we want to turn it down all we would have to do is turn it this way okay and this is going to allow us to adjust okay independently depending on the track that we're on now let's go ahead and rout our delay and we can get the record all we have to do is make sure the track that we want to be affected is clicked and then we click this arrow and now we have a delay let's go ahead and turn that down because we know we're not going to want all of it as well but before we record we got one more thing we have to do and that is gain stage so what we're going to do is we're simply going to clip gain all right now if you don't have this little knob right here guys on your beat you probably got to update go ahead update that thing man stop playing with yourself bro so all we're going to do right here guys is lower this by some DBS all right I would recommend anywhere from 7 to -10 um in this case we're going to go negative let's go8 so let's show you guys how this works let's get it [Music] yeah it sounds so good it sounds so good
