hello guys this is a mos doll music and in today's lesson i'm going to show you all the 88 notes on a piano as represented on sheet music so you can play your favorite songs using sheet music the best way is to show you on the piano at the same time so that you know exactly what each sheet music note corresponds to on a real piano first thing that you need to remember is where the middle c is located okay let's start with the treble clef so the middle c's right yeah boom as you can see shown in the sheet music it is the note below the lowest line with an extra line through it okay now remember in music there are only seven letters of the musical alphabet which is a b c d e f g and after g it just restarts itself back to a b c d e f g so this is ascending going up pattern okay so based on this knowledge we know that the next note going up after the c note on the space just below the lowest line of the treble clef is d right there okay that's what is shown and the next note is threaded through the lowest line of the treble clef is e there you go it's exactly what it is okay and then afterwards next space is f and a g and then restarts the musical alphabet [Music] and then b c d e f g a b c d e f g a b c d e f g a b and then up to the highest c as the highest note on an 88 key piano okay now let's go ahead and switch it up and go to the bass clef so the middle c is as you can see right here if i play it it is the note above the highest line with an extra line through it okay you might actually ask why are there two middle c's one in the treble clef and one in the bass clef and it's like different okay the answer is that they are actually both representing the exact same note it's just written in a different way accordingly to each clef where in most of the cases about 90 of the time the bass clef author represents the left hand notes and the treble clef represents the right hand notes most of the time not not 100 of time so for example uh c d e f g written in the treble clef would just be the as you can see right there okay cdfg the first five notes on the treble clef is written there but the c d e f g written in the bass clef would be this okay and those five notes are actually exactly the same in both the treble and the bass clef okay it's a little bit confusing but just remember it's just different ways of writing it anyway let's just erase that for now and then uh yeah let's go ahead and descend the piano from the middle c and show you the notes as represented in the sheet music so going down the piano means that we have to go backwards in the musical alphabet so it might be a little bit difficult and a bit awkward because normally we like sing the alphabet song in order but now you have to kind of sing it backwards okay but it's only the seven letters of the alphabet so it's not as difficult but anyways so it means that the note below middle c right here would be b okay which is located on the space just above the highest space clef line and then the next note below on the line like to throw it through the line is a and then the next is g and then etc f e d c b a g f e d c b a g f e d c b and then down to the lowest a here as the lowest note on an 88 key piano okay so this is all the corresponding sheet music white notes on a full 88 key piano now that you may ask what about the black notes okay so this is where sharps and flats come in okay let's just erase everything and talk about sharps and flats so the sharp sign looks like a hashtag and when shown before a note it indicates that you have to play the black key half a step to the right of that indicated white notes and a flat sign looks like a lowercase b and when shown before i know it indicates that you had to play the black key half a step to the left of that indicated white note so for example in the treble clef okay so right here so this first black line just above middle c it is shown as c sharp because there's a hashtag in front of the c it just means okay this note is c right but if you do half a step to the right since this is a sharp this is the note which corresponds to what is written right there okay and then the next black note above that it's shown as e flat okay so which makes sense because this is e right and then for flats you have to uh go half a step to the left of that white note so it's correct right there okay and as you go up f sharp same thing g sharp b flat then back to d flat well d flat or c sharp is the same thing and then e flat f sharp g sharp b flat c sharp e flat f sharp g sharp b flat and then c sharp and then e flat and then f sharp g sharp and b flat just like that okay and similarly if we go to the ace club go to the base clef right now all right so for the bass clef b flat yep same thing because it is b and then the flat goes to the left right there okay and then down this one it says g sharp because g is right here go to the right g sharp yeah f sharp e flat c sharp etc just keeps cycling b flat g sharp f sharp and then e flat c sharp and then b flat g sharp f sharp then e flat c sharp and the lowest one as b flat okay and that's pretty much it okay you can actually kind of like swap each one because every sharp and flat has it's like uh like the same way of writing it both okay just like how there are many ways to write a particular note on sheet music so for example let me just select all of this [Music] okay now they are all flats but they were the exact same notes okay and if you want to make it the exact same thing for sharps now they are the exact same notes but they are sharps okay just like that the corresponding flats and the corresponding sharps just like that so they have two ways of writing the exact same notes okay but yeah that's pretty much it so this is all the corresponding sheet music white and black notes on the piano so um now you know pretty much how to find all the black and white keys in sheet music go ahead and now i'm like practice applying this video's knowledge by printing out sheet music and try to slowly read and play it if you are completely new to this you can make it easier by handwriting the notes above each note before attempting to play it but the more practice you get and the more sight reading tricks that you know the quicker you will be able to read and play songs on the spot without needing to handwrite any of the letters on the sheet music okay so a good place to start is to actually memorize the highest and lowest line and space notes for each clef okay so let's just delete this okay so for example you can go ahead and remember the bass clef stuff okay so because normally a lot of people have a lot of um trouble remembering bass clef notes okay so for example remember that the g note corresponds to the lowest bass clef line okay okay so this g note is like any any like notes on this line it's a g note right here okay you can see it's right there yeah all right and then remember the highest line on the bass clef is a just below c okay so remember these two as kind of like checkpoints okay so now that you know so for example if you suddenly need to define say like this note okay all you need to do is to count upwards from g g a b and there you go you know that this note is b okay instead of like counting all the way from middle c downwards yeah that's way too slow okay so you won't need to do that anymore because you remembered two checkpoints okay so do this for the bass clef and then do remember the treble clef as well that the lowest line is right here so the lowest line is e and then the highest line is f up here okay so remember it okay same thing say if you need to find a note say like this one okay all you need to do is count downwards from f so f e d c and you got the note already instead of counting from middle c upwards which takes longer so the more you remember the more quicker you'll be be able to like read sheet music okay so yeah just go ahead and practice those things okay
