How to properly set TDC Ford F150 5.4 Timing

hey guys how y'all doing today put another video for you guys um I appreciate your comments and the likes and the subscrib so thank you so much it makes things a little easier for me and I thank you so much for your integrity of these uh videos you guys got keep posting um or giving feedback um how I can make it better thank you so much so today we're doing the second part of that um timing chain on the F-150 2005 F150 5.4 the three Val engine so we're waiting for some uh special tools which I got it one of them is this one here that's your um crankshaft locking tool so once you put that on there like this and it locks up with this little knob here on the Block and of course it slides right on here on the top of the key has a keyhole there you can see it so for sure you are going to be at TDC right now so right now you're fine but sometimes if you're not on TDC when you put this on it won't lined up all you got to do just use a 32 mm socket the axle uh nut sockets you can use that as you turn the engine and that way you can have uh put this thing on TDC so right now we have TDC on the crankshaft for sure cuz our tool come goes in right there and it locks into that pin right here the D on the Block so we know we at 100% here at TDC on this engine at least the crankshaft is all right now the CR shaft right there we might have to like move it a little bit as we continue to put our timing chain so I'm just showing you what the tool do for us so what it allows us to do it locks up the the cram shaft phaser the sprockets cuz you put two bolts on here you can see them right here so that locks it up and you're able to put torque on that bolt right here you notice the bolt right here and this bolt is uh torque to 89 ftlb so the good thing about this locking mechanism I you put that much torque on it pressure uh without this locking tool it will turn you can use an impact but taking it off but doesn't recommend to use your impact gun when you're torqueing it because you have to torque it to proper degree proper pound so that's what the tools are for it really makes it nice and easy and for sure we all at TDC so once we put this at TDC we're going to use our new sprockets for the crankshaft which is I have it we have not put that on there yet we're going to remove this and do that but you notice there something else is missing our oil pump um the kit that I order uh supposed to come with it it didn't so we are waiting for that um oil pump so once we put the oil pump on and notice I have that rag here on the bottom so it covers nothing no debris go inside the oil pin there so once the pump get here we will remove this uh rag here and we will put our new uh pump old pump in and once we put that in uh we'll be able to continue to put our timing guide and our chain on it at the same time too as we get going so our both cam shafts already put on um it's already been torqued at least the bolts been torqued to 89 ftlb so once we get our chain on we might have to move this just a little bit so put that 50 mm socket on here and we can turn the chem shaft a bit back and forth wherever we need to be so but before we do that we got to have our oil pump on and the crankshaft uh pulley on the sprocket but what I Reon I'm doing this video just to show you guys this is it right here to properly uh time your crankshaft uh at the TDC Mark so that's where we at so we know we for sure on this it's guaranteed we at the right position we have to worry about um being um um Miss time on the crankshaft so there you go there we have it so this is where how you time your crankshaft and you can also there's another way you can do it uh the old style uh you can remove the spark with a number one spark plug number one piston so you take that one off and turn the engine clockwise until you get compression strob and of course you will see that uh if you put like a Long Rod or long screwdriver as you turn it it will go up but I like this method better here I mean we time now those locking tools or it makes it so much easier and then you all guarantee that you at the timing you you at TDC there so there you have it so I mean for 15 bucks guys that's not bad I mean there you go um that's your locking cam locking tool and your crankshot locking tool to know you at TDC thank you so much guys if I miss something on this explanation let me know and we will show you a third step of the video once we get a old pump in and we will continue to put all this stuff on all right uh thank you so much for all the likes and subscribes once again continue to support me guys thank you so much all right peace out
