Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Did this get posted cause that one guy shot a hole in his hand?
Keep pulling the trigger till the bangs stop?
That's an odd thing to post about handguns. EMSK the basics of how to operate a gun of all kinds and the rules of safety regarding all guns. Not that you shouldn't know how to load/unload, but why start there?
I like that he says dominant hand and not just assumes that everybody is right handed. Left handers shall prevail!
Just adding this because although it was done in the video, they didn't make much point of it.
When you pull the slide back use four fingers on one side and the meat of your hand on the other. Don't do it with your thumb and 1st finger from behind.
Not really that important, but my wife was really having trouble racking the slide until she learned that method, so I figured this might help somebody.
So important, and a lot of people do not take these precautions seriously.
Eject mag, clear chamber. That's it.
This comment assumes a minimum gun familiarity of "I'm really good at call of duty."
This video was pretty useful on all accounts except for one: when turning over a weapon for security watch in the military, we had to ensure the weapon was completely safe while maintaining accountability of every round issued. Cupping your hand over the ejection port to catch the round chambered is not bad practice. It takes time and practice to do it properly, but after about a half a dozen times or so of doing it it becomes second nature.
Simply aim the weapon into a properly manufactured clearing barrel, turn the weapon to a 45-degree angle, cup your hand over the ejection port, and slide the chamber back. It's that easy.
I don't know if every man should know this... although EMWAHGSK (Every Man With a Handgun Should Know) is a shitty abbreviation.
