surprise it's me again the letter from Comic Con split in weakness and as you know I'm not only a fan of Allah I also love TV a phone just as much it's cheap easy to work with and super comfy to wear and our the new semi-darkness tutorial even Seldon lasted cutting and gluing a v8 foam is actually pretty simple and fact however priming and painting is is quite tricky so it's time for new tutorial I actually built six of the shoulder pieces out of a v8 phone and each of them got two different timing so no matter what patch that you have or which country you came from there should be something to help you out and now let's start the video oh wait I've got something right by my balls but now let's start in video baby to compare to Primus I decided to build six simple shoulder pieces I started by printing out miteta and change the shape of a couple of lines if you want to download this as well just check out the link in the description next I cut the shape out and trace this to five millimeter thick high-density ETA film I also added a smaller additional detail piece after I cut them all out of my box cutter and then of the edges with my Dremel and applied a thin layer of contact glue to both of their sides I waited a bit and then carefully press both parts together to get the armor piece nice and round I heated up the phone and press it in shape using an acrylic horse fear my Dremel was also super helpful to use out the top seam next I'd lose my detail part onto my base shape sander them pretty and edit one more piece of help looks good I just had to do this again five times yes if this was too quick for you please go check out my other Eevee a phone video to close the port of the phone I see it seals it with my heat gun next sadly this step also shrinks the foam and opens up some ugly gaps here and there to close them again we using a tip research even text channel using a product called quick seal when it took a little drop and directly applied it with this finger then he just used some water to move it out it shrinks a bit when drying so he applied another coat on top of this one we also smear jizz on top to hide the seat so let's finally start with the priming to make it easier to compare the results when you use the same type of brush for all products first off what touch it's already pretty liquid so there's no need to finish with water when it just directly applies the first thin layer to get a good result here's three coats of every type of primer when not touch dries out it becomes transparent but also shelves brushed all this also happens when using a high quality brush additionally the EBA foam also hardens it next slide q which is also called what blue in Germany it's the same as all mostly in the US if you're curious over wide view is pretty whiskers so Benny send it off with a few drops of water he grabs his brush and the flight three layers of primer a good tip to avoid drops running down is to apply it thinly and quickiy you can also use a hairdryer person the process white pure levels up nicely so the dry results look super smooth and with barely any brushstrokes showing it also makes the EBA form pretty stiff however next bump from Rosco is next when I only had to add a few drops of water essences has a pretty low viscosity it applies pretty much the same as our previous to primer so let's make that three layers again when dry it's also translucent but the fall stays soft and flexible the next primer is latex milk that I bought at a larger it dries out within seconds so you need to apply it extremely fast additionally you have to clean your brush after every application before in water the result isn't that pretty as well there are some smaller clumps that we couldn't filter out and it shows on the surface adamant that latex feels really durable and long-living next flexi paint in silver we discovered this product only recently the primer is pretty six of any mix it in a four to one ratio pin to water afterwards it was just as easy to apply a swipe flu or flex pot with the free layouts dried out flex paint also showed its server color the result was pretty smooth but obscure shows a few brush strokes it quickly creates drugs those who are playing it will need a bit of practice and last but not least Placid it a spray-on dropper to get a smooth application we heated up the can and hot water make sure not to boil it though first the fumes and particles are pretty toxic I'm using my spray booth system you can also just go outside however I put on some gloves and shop it properly next I applied a pretty thick layer all over the floor the result should be thick and shiny but not create any drop if it's bubbling you did it right when it was dried out I also applied a second and third layer the result is really smooth shiny and has zero brush stroke it also keeps the phone soft and flexible all pieces finally done for the stress test we also wanted to check how the colors behave so many airbrush them all with a basic layer of black acrylics now you can also see that quick feel completely covered any themes or gaps we have before it's pretty awesome stuff just because Benny has nothing better to do he also added a bit of silver on top oh they look so pretty now let's destroy them again here's a closer look at the mod touch primer the brush strokes are still quite visible right bending and squishing the material a bit already create some wrinkles so what happens when I roll it hmm the results dozens of that good for some primers you are able to get rid of the wrinkles with heat it doesn't work with the Mod Podge though instead of becoming smooth the primer seems too fake and creates a really sandy looking surface at least the paint ones pretty well and doesn't scratch off at all so in my opinion Mod Podge isn't the best solution for e VAR more actually works for props or parts of the nose bender now let's have some fun with white glue the surface is really smooth and shiny but also pretty hard it doesn't like to get twisted though and instantly creates huge wrinkles maybe rolling it around nah that just makes it worse hmm maybe I can fix it with Pete nope doesn't work either it creates ugly bubbles on the painted step no travel with right toothpick though so white glue is clearly also not the right solution for flexible custom people next after for the Flex con is not a shiny but the rubbery surface feels promising it still gets plenty of wrinkles when I squish but this time I'm able to easily get rid of all of them with some heat no problem of stretching as well Marv with you four flex bonds thumbs up latex doesn't look that pretty after the pincher but the results feels very elastic and flexible as you can see it handles to stress test pretty well though you almost can't even tell that I squish this piece bad badly certainly the acrylic colour doesn't stick to the surface at all additionally you get air bubbles if you try to get rid of the wrinkles with heat it looks like I would have to switch to latex paint sub sadly those are not so easy to mix and apply I wouldn't really recommend latex of an easy and simple primer for a VA foam though flexi paint doesn't have the cleanest results but still looks okay the primer is pretty elastic and durable I'm still getting some wrinkles but it's actually really easy to fix them both feet additionally no paint chip stuff so I must say I really like it good product it finally plastidip this primer is clearly the best surface no brush strokes no drop no clamp the result is again very flexible and strong legs of them all I get plenty of wrinkles when I do this but it's totally no problem to get rid of them all again see it looks like new and the paint job no more easier for me Placid it is definitely my favorite even if it's a bit trickier to apply and now comes the final test let's see how its wife's a wired animal attack hmm looks like it cooks some battle damage what do you say set up some more tests take this hey don't try to protect it oh [Music] I almost forget to say if you are ever in a hurry you can paint your phone without any primer it does work even though the color that we really stay on there for thank you for watching this all to the end and I really hope some of the tips were helpful for your upcoming costumes and props as I said Placidus is still my favorite I'm using it for pretty much all of my projects if you don't want to spray though flex bond and flexi pain are great alternative and what about you which one do you like the most also don't forget to prime the subscribe button check out our patreon if you want to support us and as always just leave a comment if you have any questions and see you next time
