hey guys welcome back to quad nation today we're going to learn how to drift the quad but before we start please lift my family up in prayer as we just lost my uncle it was totally unexpected this video is a tribute to him and his life uncle jeff we love you i know you're worshiping with our father because you became very close to him the last few years of your life not even knowing that you'd be taken away from this planet so soon i love you uncle jeff all right the easiest way to roll into this is start by 180. first time we're just going to turn second time is throttle control as you enter the corner you want to flip the throttle just like this turn flip see how it just turns like that guys perfect perfect perfect do it again as soon as you enter the corner and turn flip it just like that throttle control and handlebar control ready turn blip just like that turn and flip now now that you understand how to get into it how do you hold it how do you hold it well that's a good question the way you hold it is you have to feather the throttle and i don't know if you would call it feather in the steering but you're basically going to go back and forth the more you turn the more likely you're going to do a complete 360. the less you turn the more you'll keep it going out and you'll have a smooth execution but if you don't turn enough you're going to come out of it let me demonstrate demonstrate right here i'm going to turn into it really hard turn the flip see how it just turns me all the way around i don't want that so if i have more control of the throttle and steering see i did a nice 180. now this is what happens if you don't do it hard enough turn and blip see you don't even end up executing a full 180. let me demonstrate for you guys one more time this is what happens if you don't turn enough turn and blip boom you can't finish executing the turn oh come on raptor forgot your tires are rolled so that's if you don't turn enough this is what happens if you turn too much turn and blip turn too much so a perfect execution is when you stomp that throttle and you turn immediately start easing off on it and play with it if you're coming out of it turn more into it if you're going too far into it and you're about to do a complete 360 turn out of it watch the throttle and steering control ready guys we're going to execute a phenomenal one see all that work guys perfect now i like second gear so here we go here's second gear turn and blip see how i had to adjust it see how i had to adjust it because i would have overshot it i would have done it through full 360 so i was pulling in and out of it let's do that again here we go turn and blip see i'm turning out of it i'm turning have it now i'm coming into it perfect guys that is how you execute perfect power slides one more time coming out of it coming out of it turn into it oh perfect now let me demonstrate on a banshee real quick banshee seated with the raptor you can just have that low end torque you can just roll onto the throttle from a dead stop with the banshee you want a little bit more high rpms let's do that one real quick oh it feels so weak compared to megatron with the banshee you're going to want to get up on higher rpms so turn and blip see how i did that throttle control guys on the banshee i wasn't really playing with steering too much i was messing with the throttle but here we go you want to get if you start off in low rpms it's uh it still wants to slide because it's super slick but if you're in dirt i'm telling you the banshee's just gonna bog get up on higher rpms and turn and blip come out of it come out of it come out of it come out of it feather it just like that ready turn and blip i'm turning out of it turning out of it turning out of it ready i'm going to show you guys one more time coming out of it coming out of it turn in turn out now watch if i don't turn out of it too much you ready just you just it's just a 360 ready turn and flip turn out then i'm i'ma turn in see does complete 360. so throttle control if you notice i'm not just punching it i'm not just punching it even if i were to work the steering it makes it difficult you want to throw you want to feather the throttle oh my exhaust guard's coming a little loose i got to tighten it but watch even if i see if even if i feather the steering if i'm going full center on the throttle i still can't control it you have to have steering and throttle control watch i'll demonstrate again see can't just can't do it you've got to have throttle control just like this ready turn perfect all right we got to tighten that up now um now we're going to get to the much more expert level of drifting and that is going to be on the pavement all right guys pavement is a whole nother beast if you have the opportunity and there's a little bit of sand and pavement i'd recommend starting there as you can see all the burnouts i already did this my camera was not filming so i'm a little aggravated but i'ma demonstrate again for you guys because i love you all so if you go too fast into it remember turn and blip right if you go too fast into it and you don't flip it hard enough and kick that back end out you're just going to tip up on two wheels and off you go i'll demonstrate ready going into it you're going into it and you're turning flip up and you fall off just like this ready off you go except if you're inexperienced as it flips up on its side off you go you roll the raptor you're down for a while it sucks watch again if you don't flip that throttle hard enough you're gonna go up on two wheels just like that ready boom so the key to success is to blip that throttle hard as you turn it ready right here on this hard stuff just where i was flipping it on its side flipping the throttle means all the difference here we go as you see i'm coming in out in out in out in out in now keeping my circumference the same don't want to go tight turn in super tight if i want to drift out of it just like this ready just like that just like that guys that simple i'll demonstrate one more time and then we'll go on to banshee the banshee's different because i tried demonstrating it on this on the sand it was just too slick but the banshee you have to be in high rpms already when you hit the throttle because the low end torque on that is not enough to kick that back end out you can do it if you're really experienced but it's much more difficult if you're inexperienced you need to have the rpms up for the raptor though just roll on the throttle ready turn and blend if you notice what i did though if i don't come out of it right afterwards it's going to be a very tight circle which is okay but if you're wanting to have a wider circle you want to come out of it ready just like that ready here we go punch it tight circle tight circle tight circle tight circle tight circle come out of it a little bit make it wider and if you want to do another figure eight different way turn out of me coming out of it coming out of me making it really wide my brother was in the way make it really wide come around them go the other way super tight right super tight and i'm gonna come out and drift just like that guys just like that after i demonstrate the banshee i'ma let this one cool and i will do a sick drift with this one let's let this one cool for a second all right jump on the banshee you're going to see you're going to need a lot more a lot more rpms which ultimately is more horsepower because it doesn't have that low in torque it will tip up on its side here we go so and again if you have some sand and dirt start on that it'll make it a lot easier but watch with the banshee if i roll into it and turn it i can do it but if you notice it went really wide and at those speeds going sideways really wide you do risk flipping over i can control it i'll show you i can just flip it but now it's i gotta get into a tight circle and i'm risking flipping over while i do that but if you take the banshee you get it up in rpms much much better much better got to dump that throttle get it high in rpms first is this going into it see guys i actually went up one more time much more difficult takes a lot more proper strength in everything much more difficult just rev it up dump that clutch much different on a banshee let's do one cool drift and come out of it here we go all right one last drift with the raptor um out out out big wide going out out so [Music] that's all there is to it guys i'll have more how-to videos coming up
