[Music] welcome back this is lead fills a lot of questions have been those little fancy things we can do in between the straight-ahead cords those are the noodles whatever you want to call them that really make things more interesting if you're doing campfire stuff a lot of songs I'll focus today on G C and D and what we can do some of the things we can do in between those hey go get the sheets here from this sheet here so it's a tab on it some strumming instruction on that if you go to patreon.com slash guitar at work you can grab that sheet you can finally get through it a whole lot easier if you have it hey and thanks for coming back and subscribing and all that a lot of thumbs up and I really appreciate that helps a lot on this end and your comments and suggestions have been great most of them anyway so I appreciate that and keep those coming I have no capo on here as you can see we're gonna back it up here these if we're in the key of G these these Phil's gonna be coming something called GE pentatonic major G pentatonic major I'll play it very slowly in case you don't know it third fret there on the low E open a second fret on the a second fret of the D open second fret of the D I should say an open G second fret of the G open B third fret on the B and open on the high E and third fret on the G we go backwards three zero three [Music] finally landing on that third fret which is the G note itself those are where these these notes are drawn from it is important to know that scale you could just do the fills themselves you guys there but it's important to know where they come from in case you get into trouble and you have to improvise a little bit at least you have some footing there you can't play a bad note in there so you can wing it until you get your footing back I'm gonna use this big kid G as I called because you three finger G it will also work if you're playing at four finger G so you take your pick doesn't really matter you're gonna see written there G you can see down up down up down we're gonna count that it's important to know when you have to abandon ship on the chord in favor and paper playing that lead part of that little lead fill I should say so that it's counted this way on the strumming one and two three and now we abandon ship and these three notes in to fill their a triplet so if I go to the left drink away at zero to hammer to see a little slur mark over top with an H as hammer this open the second fret of the D string and then open G and in time that's one and two and three there we go now I'm gonna land on the C chord and isolate the the bass note so that's the third fret you'll see a three written there in that C bar three mean the third fret of the a string and isolate him followed by up down up down the seat so here it is the whole thing slowly 3/4 G 1 & 2 & 3 & and three and four and we do that again here's g34 one [Music] here we go three two three and four and now the upstroke the first upstroke in the C bar you could forego that and just start on the next down stroke if you're playing something really up-tempo one might be nice to believe that hole in there totally up to you just long as you remain intact rhythmically and so I don't forget to mention it notice right hand here when you're strumming no rest just your primary rest right there one two three when I go for the Phil I lock that right hand down otherwise that would forever be missing strings lock them down to my happy place they're in right straight through having to go from a wild flailing strum one two three now rest and then you're and then you're not resting to see strumming okay so and slowly in time looking at that no rest in the straw one and two and three won't for the rest here off comes arrest mister two three [Music] - I was a great man g12 it's number one and you know if you miss a string if you get off on the wrong foot it can be difficult to to recover you may as well just run back to the stroma pretend it never happened cool that's going from G to C in any song throw it in and just don't overdo it don't pollute things to the point where the singer might get mad at you for stepping on he or she number two is something maybe we do if C was going back to G you could do the same fill by the way you could do the very very same field but just to break it up a bit I'm gonna go from C in the second line one and two and three and play the same thing but one string lower at one string thicker here and I'm gonna land on the third fret of the low E which is your base note 4g [Music] so in time slowly that guy is see 1 & 2 & 3 there comes to fill [Music] for here it is again slowly one-and two-and three-and [Music] and you could also get rid of that upstroke immediately after the G bass note if you find it's just too too busy in there hear that number two is in real time three four one two three rest you think G back to see [Music] - that's number two round around Luke G - C - G - C sorry seen a g g 2c c did you just hear this again number two one two one two back to see [Music] I've never sitting up in a metronome on or a drum machine just go round and round around so you just can't miss here with your right hand number three is if maybe if G was going to D and they are interchangeable you can I just put them in this order you can play a fill number three over top of G to see whatever you want to do I had to put in some sort of order so they fill on this guy's good to the open G number three years that is the open G pulling off to 2-0 hole right now little PE written there and that's where you play the to snap that finger off and so you hear a clear open D string and then to the second fret of the a string and I'm gonna play the D note open back heading to a D chord so that one's slowly number three you were one and two and three and four and one and two and three and four so it's a bit busier there's one extra note so that would be an eighth note followed by a triplet if that means nothing to you listen to be counted out here one and two and three and four and one three as always we get rid of that first upstroke after the D if you just find it's too busy real time number three G to D three four one two three and four I'll do it again G one and two and three I like that one [Music] number four coming at you he was going back to G or they are interchangeable any other cord you might be heading to G C or D in this case D one and two and three what is that that fill-in number four is open G pulling off the g string here second fret to open and then playing the open D and now heading to the third fret of that LOI to capture the G bass note there so here's okay here's number four slowly in time three four no.1 and 2 to 3 goes again D coming and or one and two and three go get your rest there so you nail it number four hey number five is a walk-up when G goes to C you hear this so often many styles of music via country rock stuff whatever you might be playing it's a walk and again the hardest part it seems that and I had its trouble too is when do you stop strumming you have to steal a little bit of time at the end of the bar you have to steal a little bit of time in the strum to get that fill in there but you got to get to that next chord of time it's very important to get to the next chord on time even if you blow the field get to that next chord on time so this one is going to leave on beat four as a couple of others have done here today G to C sounds like this with a walk up one and two and three two three do that all the time who is she again slowly one two and three and a beat for is an open a string the end of four second fret a string and beat one of the next bar is not three I don't have my fingers down on the c yet but I better get them there there is enough storage you could land completely on the C and play that note totally up to you here's a G again one and two and three is number five again to walk up and to for to get that rest so important to get that otherwise you'd be doing this - you have to go it's all gonna come for the elbow and you're not gonna get that detail that you want so that sounds pretty cool with the walk up - there's a way you might fatten that up if you're playing a song it's a medium tempo or a slower song you could add an open G in between the fill the notes in the fill so instead of just 0-3 like that's gonna be open then open G 2nd fret open G so all I've done is put an open g string in between a zero and the two that you're seeing there on the last line and that will keep the 16 of the eighth notes alive so it won't sound like one two and three it's a big hole there right so if I go one two here comes - let me slow down one and and three [Music] three is a G again one and two can't even pull and one precision and two and three and four four E and AH four E and AH one two one and two and three [Music] and that would be make sure you're going down up if you're doing that fancy bib now those zeros are not written in there but just having watched us I'm sure you could squeak them in last time number five with the fancy fill one two and three again and oh one two three and [Music] like so you can mix these up Iommi tear through them here here's number one one two two three rows number two one two three is number three couple or one and two to you number four [Music] number five the walk up to [Music] hard to do it that simple I probably I wouldn't do it at that tempo myself but only the the fancy filler number 5 if we're going slowly to completely at your discretion where G is going to see throw something in and you could again substitute these use them trade them with your friends throw them in other places they just make things a bit more interesting for sure if you just pound it over straight G C's and DS a lot of requests for that thanks a lot and I'll let you go there thanks for coming back guys and a thumbs up on this really helps me on this and I appreciate all of that and great to have so many people watching I really appreciate all of your comments suggestions hit that like button that really does help and the subscribe button you'll have an opportunity to do that if you get that little bell notification just tells you when a new videos have come out lots more coming head to patreon.com slash guitar at work to grab the sheets and we'll see you there thanks again lots more coming up Cheers [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music]
