going beautiful people this is concept he young world's greatest living artist I'm here in the beautiful yeah we're in our new studio we're doing some cool stuff here she is a master at packaging the artwork this is a crucial part of our business since people just absolutely love the way things are packaged you want to show just the table you want to show your well I'm going to show them supplies is it okay if I show the complete complete body right that way they can hear you so what you're gonna need is brown paper i prefer two sizes i have a smaller size in the longer side cool you're gonna need i'll leave you guys with her you guys are in good hands okay you need clear tape brown tape to follow up scotch tape and then obviously my fragile stickers and my certificate of authenticity so I've already prepped this painting to be shipped out so today what I'm going to show you guys prepping a 20 by 20 painting I've already created most of the pieces but I will be cutting some of them in front of you so that you can see I'm actually going to be sliding this painting what that means is that because he paints in oil and sometimes paints a little bit more a thicker consistency in certain ones sometimes you need to slap them with that doesn't that creates a space between the top of the bottom of the painting so that none of those beautiful kind of brush marks are damaged at all very good ship out so what I did is I created a top and a bottom cover it's in a 20 by 25 because they get massive sizes of painting and put that there we're going to make corners so you need four squares and then I'll show you how to make corners and then you're going to need to measure out your box which is it dimensionally 20 and reporters all the way around for the two and a half inch and a half inch size so here we go I'm so nervous I'm gonna read some comments really quick to see what you did there ass okay cool tonight ask me anything awesome so what we're going to do first is we're gonna make corners cuz corners are really important you want to make sure that you don't make them too small and narrow um so as to not to damage the corners of the beaching so what I did is I created a square you're gonna cut out a secondary square shape from your square that's gonna make an L so here you go right here you're gonna do that with every single square that you have and I just eyeball I have trash bins underneath me so if you guys see me cut stuff and then put it under the table that's why here's my Heather out and then my fourth and final L then what you're gonna do is you're gonna lightly cut four groove de lines along each corner of the L how do how would I better explain that so you're gonna create I guess I should draw it in so you guys can see whatever I'm visual and I can never explain things I think it makes a lot of sense I like to do the center of attention so hi guys I don't know what would you say is this like a half inch yeah it's a half inch so you're gonna cut a half inch lines but you're gonna lightly you're just gonna create a small groove along those black lines that I just created so that you don't cut through the cardboard but you make it easy to bend [Music] and again you're just always eyeballing you don't want to make it too narrow because then you make the corner too tight and then it compresses the painting work can damage the paint you're going to get a piece of your tape I fold it like this I don't know if you can see that and then I just taped it together like so so now you have your first corner and then what I always like to do is I always like to just kind of open it up a little bit so that it slides onto the painting easily without creating any damage so there's your first corner I'm going to do this with the other three [Music] weird it always feels weird huh talking to yourself yeah it's a freaky thing I'll help you hi guys but it's accepting heat well seriously hardest yeah I drop an act okay I like those guys are for the shirts there oh yeah so the dr.com yeah so now we have four corners for each side in facing now I'm gonna bring my painting I've already made sure that it's dusted I've already made sure that it's ready to go and we are going to I'm gonna take its customer tag off I know that the name of it is because it's divorce because it's steady and strong I'm going to make a certificate then I might do it's nothing fancy but I just tuck it into the corner of the painting I also make sure to just put a little bit of scotch tape scotch tape isn't too accurate so it won't damage the certificate and I always made sure not to cover a whole set signature because that's the most important part so then we're gonna get our words top and our bottom I'm gonna place the bottom cover there and start putting my corners in now like I told you you want to make sure that your corners are not too tight just tight enough that it will easily hug each corner of the painting [Music] and then you're going to let it flush the corner corner you're going to get your top you're gonna let your top down and then what you're going to do is you're going to get your clear tape again and you're just gonna take each corner down to itself so you're gonna take the bottom squats and the top slap together hugging the corners that you built there's that eventful train once that was talking about that it doesn't matter where we move you can always hear okay so not only I can use like I told you the medium and the large paper but for this it's so big enough painting that we're just going to use the large to cover each side the reason for this is just to say it looks pretty it'll look like a present but be it kind of ensures that paint if there's any paint on the side that maybe are still a little bit tacky or paint or even dust you want you don't want to additional dust getting on the pinky so you want to make sure that you use the paper to cover up each side so kind of like a team so you're gonna go along this side that's open you're gonna cover it you have your scissors and I like clean edges so I always make sure that I fold the end that's going to be exposed of the brown butcher paper and then you're going to repeat the process but on the other side this is both again holding that side of the butcher paper that's going to be folded on the exterior you're showing them our tricks good morning mr. hijo good morning okay look like finished so you've created your corners you've created your slack now we know that eat that the top part of the painting is going to be protected because it's been reinforced on the corners and then you've covered it to protect it from getting paint on the clients and be getting dust on the painting I always like to leave clients a little note that just says open with care thank you in black marker so we're gonna leave that there and then we're going to set this painting aside while we create its box so I already measured this out and already kind of created the line so I'm just going to be cutting it in front of you guys now because you've created a slot for the painting to fit in you're not going to make your box exactly 20 by 20 in dimension you're gonna make room for the slotted painting to actually fit inside the box so this box is actually set to 20 by 3/4 20 3/4 so you're gonna have your base your top and then 2 and 1/2 inches all the way around so I'm going to get started cutting this box look at all the process it takes guys just to package one painting and as you do want more you create like fast ways of fast ways that right most paintings will go flat it just for protection but as you create if you send like multiple thinking about they'll create quick ways to create slats for just multiple paintings of the post for me I always make sure to save these and then you can make your corners out of them these make perfect squares so I always save those ok so now we have our 20 by 20 but what you're gonna do is you're going to cut the room at your fold all the way through because you need to be able to fold it and the reason I'm making this box for you guys today is to let's actually have somebody message him and ask them ask Timothy if I could do one I guess they had purchased a painting and liked our package and wanted to see it done so I never thought anybody would be interested in what I do so it's kind of funny and it feels awkward to be doing this here but you go so what you just taught me to do what i was talking is they cut off one side of the corners only because you don't want it won't be able to fold over on itself it'll become too bulky with the cardboard so you always want to make sure that you cut the corners off the lip then what you're gonna do is you're gonna do the same thing you did with the corners when he created those fold lines you're just gonna lightly cut so that you can pull to the cardboard easily so you're not going to cut through on the cardboard like you did its corners you're only going to lightly create a light room so that new can fold the box on itself so what I did was I like to beat the box we created a pizza box for all intents and purposes I didn't know what it feels like [Music] here at Studio we've been getting a lot of telemarketing calls because we just got a new number and they listed it as public and arrow it's the design of death so they call this the only way we can stop it is to make their number of private and to write the number is down to block them as they call it well it's been like every 25 35 minutes yeah they sold it in Chinese house cruises okay so what you guys see me now doing is I'm folding the tuning up inch sides to keep the box bowl you're going to get a piece of tape and you're gonna fold the sides into itself until you make perfect if I'm explaining that these I didn't explain it correctly right doesn't want to make sure that each that your tape is folded down and moves over because you don't want it to be able to stick to other boxes when you drop it off at P okay so here's our box as you can see here is power she cannot wear your painting is going to fit you can see where the lip is see how it you needed to cut that corner off there so it could fold over so the next step is we have to take out this opening right here and you have to reinforce the bottom because when you are shipping via fedex USPS you got to imagine that there's gonna be weight on it and there's gonna be other things that are getting shipped along so we wanna protect the painting some more so you're gonna line the base of the painting with a little bit more cardboard any questions any or no so I'll make it perfect I'd literally just put like two extra pieces I make sure to cover that opening and now the point part you're going to get your 20 by 20 painting you're going to lay it in you can see that each side hugs perfectly because I measure I know my dimensions already of how much space I need when it creates lat do you see that it is how you perfectly which is what you want you don't want it to be too tight but you don't want to leave space for it to rattle and move around inside the box there's about a quarter of an inch at the top we're going to fill that with paper you don't want to fill it with too much paper because it will compress down on the painting and then the slat won't push down on itself so it would be as if you didn't you would be pushing the top onto the painting which is what you want to avoid you want to make sure that you put enough paper to fill this quarter of an inch without creating tight compression so we're going again we have this opening right here you see it right there on the lid so I have to put cardboard on the top to protect the painting again and then we're going to put a little bit of paper [Music] we're going to do it exactly we're gonna match it exactly the same as we did with the bottom we're going to put a piece of tape to hold it in place then when you're going to do is you're going to get here [Music] [Applause] [Music] again smoothing out all those pieces of tape I go faster usually guys so but I show you exactly what so now you're gonna get your ground tape you're going to use this brown tape to cover openings and or end all the sides of the cardboard because you have to remember that you cut the cardboard and you don't want your postal workers and where your clients is paper cuts along the grooves that you cut with the cardboard to create your box again keep in mind that you want the box the most incredible gift arrive to their house obviously this is all DIY eventually will say I want to be able to just order tons of boxes but we paint in different sizes and so it gets costly when you paint to different sizes to buy different sized boxes especially the larger boxes for small paintings and the logistics too but but for the small paintings we already have pre-made boxes so this is really for any size at 16:25 so like I said you're gonna take your brown tape you're going to we gonna get a new cup that means you cut them with a knife though it they are cardboard paper cut stuck so you want to make sure that you just cover all of that and reinforce all those edges I get a lot of collectors to get upset sometimes I take long but we know that when I'm packaging I'm always taking to account all the factors that go into your paintings traveling somewhere if we don't you know package it correctly a lot of times if you can get damaged just by traveling recently we had one that got damaged in rain so you always have to consider that your paintings are traveling to different parts of the country having different weather systems in their area whether it be snow anywhere moderate up all year round so I always have to take into account where it's going it's always helpful when collectors will say look we're in the middle rainy season make sure you reinforce it with plastic make sure you take into account that these things are happening and so you always want to make sure that when you're prepping your painting for when shipping that you take environmental things ensure okay so here's our paintings it's all done our twenty by twenty is secured inside we have taped it up nice and pretty and it's now just ready for a label so the last thing I do will it will be to put the label on and then I will get fragile stickers and place those three on top three on bottom and one on each side so the post office knows and it's fragile and should be careful that's it we are done thank you guys all for watching I hope you found it useful and formative if you have questions on seeing other ways of packaging a painting I can have it fit another tutorial so there you go thank you and that's awesome thank you so much for sharing that honey alright guys see you in a bit
