hey guys how's it going welcome to another video in this video we're going to have a look at the secret expansion of 3 terabyte usb 3.0 hard drive um i'm going to talk a little bit about the hard drive i'm going to show you how to uh make sure it is working properly so you get actually has a software that gives you the proper a proper test so you are confident that you can load some data on it and finally we're gonna i'm gonna take it apart because i actually need an internal hard drive so to begin with i just want to explain to you why i've got this hard drive i live a little bit remote and prices are quite expensive most of the things i have to get ordered in and the post office actually has some some really good deals every now and then and they have a special on hard drives they had a two terabyte for uh 89 which are i bought one and they also got the three terabyte for 139 dollars so i grabbed one and that's why it's here one of my hard drives flagged a warning in my media pc so i quickly copied all my movies off it and this will be the replacement okay so let's begin and here we've got the hard drive unpacked so this is the hard drive it comes with a usb 3.0 cable which you can tell because it's got the uh the blue color going and it comes with a nice power adapter now these actually have removable adapters depending on what country you're in so by default it came with a non-australian one so just make sure you uh swap that out it's also a nice power supply because once i use that as an internal drive you'll see there's actually a usb to sata converter which which you can keep in use with any sata hard drive and you get a really nice power supply so this one let me just get the voltage uh it's got 12 volts 12 volts and 1.5 amps so that's quite good okay so next we're gonna hook it up to the desktop and i'm gonna show you how to download the software from seagate and give it a proper a proper workout okay so here we are on my desktop i've plugged in the hard drive into my usb 3 port and it shows up here successfully 2.72 gigabytes so what do we have to do to make sure that we can give it a nice test before we load any data on it we go to the internet go to google and we just type in seagate and then see tools there we go see tools for windows so we go to that link and just download it i've already done that so download it put it somewhere on the desktop and we're going to run it from here so this is going to install the c tool software which has a couple of tests built in so if you've got any issues with your hard drive you can you can verify it and the reason why i recommend doing this is just to be sure that the hard drive is functioning a okay especially if you're going to rip it apart and put it into using it as an internal drive so let's run the software so it's just having a look for the drives and here all the drives in our system so let's have a look yep that's the internal i've got to see get here that's another one with that's the usb one on the usb and then you just click you can do a short short test first but you really want to do the long one and then repair none now this takes a long time this will take a couple of hours so just let it run so it's a good workout for the hard drive and if successful you can feel at least more confident that it'll everything will be right and that you don't have a dead hard drive and in the next part i'm going to show you how to take it apart and use it in order to use it as any okay so we're back in my computer room now the hard drive has tested fine so i'm going to go ahead and take it apart because i need an internal hard drive now just got to be aware that you will lose the warranty if you do this i've seen some videos where they uh kind of do it carefully in the hope to put it back together but i'm pretty sure that they can tell if if the hard drive was was tampered with so i wouldn't i wouldn't count on that um so where we open this hard drive is we we we start at the bottom and you need something flat to get inside here you can use a screwdriver and that's what i usually use let me just go in here i'm just gonna find one point where you can get inside there you go like that and then you just work your way around making sure you unclip those clips like so and then you just work your way around the hard drive so the next one is over here just gonna do this side again there you go and then we back over here that one seems a bit tough okay let's do the other side first there you go and we've done it and now what we have to do is basically this thing comes out you just you just lift it from the side like so and there's some rubber protector bits so you can put them away and then we just need another screwdriver just a phillips one to get rid of these screws that one's too small um and there we go and then you just pull it down because it's plugged into that site at the top there you go so you can see here that's where the hard drive plugs in that's the cell to port and that's the other end so it just slides back in don't throw this away this is actually uh a proper usb 3 to sata adapter so keep that around and also keep keep around the power supply and the usb cable because you can basically put any other sata hard drive in here and that's it there's our hard drive it's a good barracuda three gigahertz three terabyte and ready to go into my media computer and that's it hopefully you enjoyed the video and maybe help someone out out there who needs a car drive quickly and there's no stock on internal or something like that alrighty thanks for watching
