hello fellow dancers, my name is Clay AKA Clay Doh Boon and today I will be ranting about how to get rid of choreo / freestyle block Oh, a cow lick. We all have those painful moments where we feel like we've lost a piece of our artistry and are a little bit stuck. Perhaps it happened when you were choreographing a piece that was exceeding 30 seconds, maybe you procrastinated on choreographing, maybe you need to get this piece done by tomorrow so you'll have one video 34 snapchats and 50 Instagram posts about your piece that wasn't even that good to you because you're not even proud of it! No matter what it is, there's always a way to work around it, and dancing and any sort of art is all about problem solving so let's solve those problems. So first things first, I'm the realest. Follow the pitch of the music. Most people dance to words and beats but tend to not listen to the pitch of the music. Whenever you're feeling stuck listen to that third layer it's a fun and easy tip to implement. If the music goes higher, try to raise your body higher...and of course if the pitch goes lower, try dipping lower. It's not required but it's definitely a good way to get out of certain positions. 2...Chainz. Skip a beat and be patient. We see plenty of amazing choreographers hitting every single beat every song touching the-body-look-effect-of-everything-like-that. Sometimes, you need to give the audience time to be able to intake all the crazy choreo that you've given them. You know, feel free to do a little little skip... a little push.. lil' time warp...speed control etc. etc. You know? 3: the most complicated one, and by far my favorite. Be a concept based dancer. Now concepts are what separate you from every other dancer, because concepts are not moves, they're ideas...and not every person has the exact same thought process many dancers have an arsenal of moves that they pull from ones that they always base everything off of or refer to when they're stuck. for example, the whip! The I'm so emotional my head hurts, my heart is so soft that I must pat it, etc. It's good to have these base moves but of course it's important to not constantly reuse these things rather than thinking of moves that your favorite choreographers do try making your own! It sounds easier said than done but honestly it's really really really simple. Let me give you an example: start by picking an object hold that imaginary object whatever you came up with it really doesn't matter. Imagine it's functions and it can be whatever size you want it to be...an oversized mechanical pencil and its function is pushing lead out of the bottom of it I can either pretend I'm holding the object I may be using it however this is weird-lookin or maybe I am the object a weird part of my body can just like kind of be based off of the idea right like right like this is the top of the pen this is the lead except the led somehow rolls out I don't know it's weird... Don't pull from that arsenal of moves unless you really really have to. Be observant, notice other dancers notice the things around in your room and see what you can base things off of so that you have an infinite supply of moves. Now, it's a good thing to note that this is just a good place to start. You don't have to base it off an object, right? You can think of an idea like it's really really hot and I'm sweating but my sweat becomes super magical tuttin oh my god!!! I need to calm down...Number four: take a break. We put a lot of strain on our body and brains when we're trying to create moves and dance other people's choreography. Stop dancing for a few days, months, however long it takes, and you know, most likely when you're missing dance so much your mind is brimming with ideas sometimes just need to chill man. Or girl. Or woman. I'm not sexist. So guys I hope you enjoyed this dancer ranter dancer ranter ranter ranter dance again I'm Clay Doh Boon, signing out. Thank you very much for watching hey guys thanks once again for watching this video if you enjoyed it, hated it, thought he was extremely extremely mediocre, please leave a comment below and tell us what we can improve upon, what you loved, and if you guys want more maybe give us a topic that we can touch upon, but not touched upon inappropriately. However, that may happen because things slip out of my mouth. That also sounds inappropriate. i'ma stop talking. Thanks for watching. guys
