How to Move Audio Clips/Sound Tracks in New Audacity (RIP Time Shift Tool)

hello and welcome as you can hear the gap is way too wide we need to make this shorter and we need to move this clip to the left but how do you do this we are here at version 313 and they cut off a tool we don't have this tool that was able to move around clips in older versions like for example audacity 3.0.3 you are able to use this tool the time shift tool which i assigned to a i'm not sure if that's the default maybe f5 was the fault anyways i hit a and then i just move around clips really nice to work with isn't it however no such thing in audacity three three instead what you use are these bars these handlebars to just slide clips around and you can also move them to other sides of our clips so this works the same way without having to switch to another tool however well you have to position your mouse precisely at the top of a clip which is unfortunate although i completely agree that this is much more user friend beginner friendly maybe not expert friendly maybe so this is how you do it now obviously also works tracks across different let me just rearrange that make sure that not everything is selected because even partial selections will make multiple clips move which maybe is interesting for moving two clips on two different tracks but not right now so let me just rearrange make it snap and play back of course this also works across different tracks all right and yeah as i said it works across different tracks so i can completely clean up of course this also works across different tracks of course you can still control x ctrl v as usual and to move around selections you will have to split on first i have a shortcut on r for this by default this is ctrl i at edit clip boundaries split so let's listen to this fixed result welcome and welcome hello whoops i meant of course and welcome hello no i meant i meant of course hello and welcome all right give this video like so people find this easier because i've seen people on the forum freaking out about it the same way i did and all people do is just link to the freaking wiki page that is endlessly long it felt like the 90s and rtfm so yeah like the video ciao
