if you use final cut pro you can save internal hard drive space by moving your library to an external drive here's how before you start make sure to connect and prepare your external drive with the apfs format and remove generated files from the library to make the move go faster now you're ready to move your library in final cut pro select the library you'd like to move in the sidebar to consolidate your media files in the library you're moving click modify settings in the library properties inspector in the media pop-up menu choose in library and click ok to confirm [Music] then click file in the menu bar and choose reveal in finder [Music] now quit final cut pro in the finder drag the library file to your external drive now open the library from the external drive in final cut pro make sure the library you just moved is selected in the sidebar click consolidate in the library properties inspector select the media you'd like to include then click ok now click continue to begin consolidating your media your media will continue to consolidate in the background while you work move and save space [Music]
