How To : Mount and Dismount Your Bike

steve from mad dog cycles here with a couple of tips and tricks for getting on and off your new bike the easy way [Music] and since it's raining hard outside we're going to show you how to do all this in the shop instead of trying to lift your foot way over that top tube or uncomfortably getting on the seat with your toes barely touching the ground let's try something else start by tilting the bike over enough that it's easy to swing your leg around the back and over the seat and then stand over the top tube with your feet flat on the ground now put your foot under the one pedal lift that pedal up to about where it's even with the down tube of the bike and then stand up onto that pedal and lift yourself under the seat doing it that way will make it a lot easier to get going and create some momentum that makes it easier to balance without the wobbly feeling that's created by trying to get on the seat first so i'm gonna lift up that pedal just about even with the down tube stand up onto the seat and go looking where i want to go as i'm getting ready to come to a stop i stand up one pedal up one pedal down and as i smoothly come to a stop i step off the up pedal now it's time to get going again as i cross that intersection i want to lift that other pedal up about even with the down tube stand up and go where i'm looking and getting off the easy way step off that up pedal swing my leg up and over that seat around the back and i'm ready to take on the day thanks for watching and thanks for making mad dog cycles utah's favorite bike shop if you have any questions or other things you'd like to see let us know in the comments below thanks [Music] you
