hello everyone my name is prajeet sinbaga and i'm a technical marketing engineer at cisco systems i'm joined today by my colleague sam nugen who's also a technical marketing engineer and leela russo who's a technical solution architect today we're going to take you to an end-to-end migration journey from cisco prime to cisco dns center we're going to show you our wonderful coexistence tool that we have created and show you how easy it is to do the migration um before jumping in if you haven't already seen please go and check out our other video on how to install and run pdart tool and pdr tool assesses the readiness of your migration now let's take a look at the network topology that we are dealing with here in our network we have a cisco prime 3.8 update one running and we have a dns center 2.2.2.3 running we also have some switches like cat9k 3850 2960 which are some legacy devices and we also have some access points like 9100 3800 and we also have a wireless lan controller which is the catalyst 9800 so we have a mix of both wireless and wired devices in our network before starting the migration we're going to go into cisco prime and look at location and maps and see what sites we currently have on cisco prime and we can see here that we have a site called militars and inside memphis we have a building called san jose 23 and a floor one and what we can see here is inside floor one we have four access points and we can also see the heat maps associated with them we can now go into the device management and network devices and look at all the devices that are currently present on cisco prime and now what we're going to do is we're going to go into configuration and look at the cli templates that are existing on prime and what we're going to do is after the migration we're going to see all of these getting migrated to cisco dna center so we're going to take a look at the one of the cli templates and we're going to see the content of the cli template right here leela is now going to take us through the migration my name is lila russo i'm a technical solutions architect based out of toronto in canada and now we are ready to start the demo let's go into the system settings and this is where we are going to launch the prime data migration tool the official name here in the ui is dna center coexistence and as we can see this tool is being launched in prime from the prime data migration tool we can see that we have a very straightforward workflow we are going to start with the dna center ip address and credentials we can see that this has been already populated and we are ready to move to step number two step number two is all about synchronization settings if we want to have a complete migration from prime to dna center and then finalize the use of prime infrastructure we are not going to click on these options and this is what we are going to show in the demo if we want to have an automatic synchronization from prime to dna center we are going to leverage these options here also if we want to move the integration of cmx from prime to dna center we are going to enable cmx settings this is going to allow us to enter into step number four of the workflow in this case we don't have cmx for this reason we are not checking this box and lastly is an area that is very important if you have cli templates in prime that you created you might want to click this option so that we can migrate those user-defined templates from prime to dna center now we are ready to move to step number three this is a very important step this is where we are going to choose the the prime areas that we want to migrate to dna center left hand side we see the hierarchy from a prime perspective on the right hand side we see the hierarchy from a dna center perspective and we can choose to migrate the whole network hierarchy or decide to do it for sites in this case we're going to do it per site i'm going to migrate milpitas with all the buildings and the floors within and here we can decide to move milpitas at the global level so we maintain the same structure that we have in prime or we can leverage the migration opportunity to clean up or change the network hierarchy in this case i'm going to say that milpitas is going to be part of the san jose site maybe from a geographical perspective it's not accurate but this is going to show functionality so we see now that milpitas is going to be moved within the san jose area so now we are ready to move into the next step we see that step number four has been skipped because we didn't select the option of cmx credentials in the synchronization settings part of the workflow step number five is where we are going to select the cli templates that we created in prime which of those templates we want to migrate in this case we're going to select both uh we can see migrated templates we don't have any migrated templates because we are running this workflow for the first time and then in the last window is just like a summary so step number six is a summary for every tab here of the components that we can migrate we can see what details we're going to add update or delete we see the groups the devices the maps the templates and lastly we see the settings so this is kind of a summary and now that everything has been configured we are ready to start the synchronization we're going to say yes that we are ready to do so this is going to show and we can say show more how the synchronization is going and we'll wait till it's finished so now the synchronization has been finalized and we are ready to move on and check out dna center first let us look at design network hierarchy where you can find those site that was migrated to cisco dna center you can see that the video site including building and floor was moved under san jose as part of co-existing workflow that lilac just finished when we click on floor we can see the floor map as well as access point on the map next let us explore provision inventory for all those devices that was migrated to cisco dna center you can see all the devices in milpitas got migrated to cisco dna center you can click on one of those devices and see a lab feature that would come with cisco dna center like command runner compliant and configured and etc next let us explore tool and template editor here you can see that the prime import template was empty as a jeep was shown in this video you expand this you can see there are two templates that got migrated from prime both of these these templates are velocity template in nature finally the ass is for you to reach out to your partner account manager to learn more about prime to cisco dna center you can visit our youtube channel for more videos and more resources can
