today I'm gonna be showing you how I make white rice in the instant pot hi I'm Karen Peterson and I own the blog 365 days of slow and pressure cooking here on YouTube I share instant pot stuff with you every single week today I did a little experiment in my kitchen I took my two instant pots and I tried white rice four different ways I'm gonna be sharing the results with you in this video today I'd love it if you would subscribe to my channel and join our 365 days of instant pot recipes Facebook group hope to see over there where we can ask questions and get answers from lots of awesome people in the community all right let's get on to the rice and see what the best way to cook white rice and then stew pot is the first expand where let's do some long grain white rice now I've taken the exact amounts of rice and put them in these bowls I use two cups of rice and I measured it out with my scale so that it was a hundred and eighty-six grams of rice just FYI so they're exactly equal and in this first pot I'm gonna put two cups of water and then the two cups of rice so it's a one-to-one ratio in the second pot I'm gonna put three cups of water and two cups of rice so this one is a 1 to 1.5 ratio 1 cup rice to 1.5 cups of water now I'm gonna cook them for exact same amount of time you put the valves to sealing and then set the manual button in to 5 minutes both of the plots of finished cooking the rice and I've let them sitting here for 5 minutes now I'm going to push the valves to vent it and remove the lids and I'm gonna show you what they look like so this version was 2 cups rice 3 cups of water 5 minute cooking time and 5 minute natural press release and here's what we get it's pretty soft a little sticky looks pretty good this is the way that I typically make my rice alright here's the second pot and this was the one-to-one ratio okay so it's just drier I don't know if you can tell that probably not but it's just a drier race still kind of sticky stix together but it just doesn't have as much moisture in it as this one they're very they're not that different though actually to tell you the truth all right the second set of experiments is using rinsed rice so this one I did two cups rinsed rice three cups of water and we're gonna do the five-minute cooking time and five-minute pressure release and then this one is two cups rinsed rice two cups water and we'll do the same cooking time all right here are three volts here's the 1 to 1.5 ratio rinsed rice it's really soft really really soft might be too soft and then here's the one-to-one ratio with rinsed rice this isn't that much different than the non rinsed rice I thought they wouldn't stick together so much but they really still are pretty sticky all right here are the results this is the rinse this is the rinsed and then this side is the one-to-one ratio in this side is the 1 to 5 ratio personally I don't think rinsing is worth it it's still just as sticky as the unwritten stressed so I'm gonna eliminate those two from the competition and what we have left is the 1 to 1.5 ratio and then the 1 to 1 ratio personally I would choose this one the 1 to 1.5 ratio because I just like the consistency of the rice better than this one what might even be better is like a one to 1.25 ratio I haven't tried that one yet but it's kind of in between the two rice two Rice's that you see see here thanks for joining me we'll see you next week bye bye [Music]
