How To- Make Nail Polish Gems

everyone so it's xkz Nelson today I'm here with a arts-and-crafts of video and it is a very simple idea that anyone can do most of the materials you have lying around your house and these are these nail polish gems that's what I call them they're all over Pinterest and I've seen him all over YouTube and they're just super super cute and I'm gonna show you how to recreate these and these are just so simple and so easy to so now let's get started on the materials and everything that you need to know about these nail polish gems so thank you so much for watching guys so what you're going to need for this small project is you're going to need and the main thing that you're going to need are these gems and they are the transparent ones I got mines at the dollar store you can get them at any arts and crafts store at Michael's or Hobby Lobby or places like that you're also going to need a topcoat or a topcoat that you don't want or use you're going to need your favorite nail polish any nail polish will work for this and then also for all of my ladies out there who do glitter mixes this is great to show off all of your glitter mixes so these are all the materials that you're going to need alright so the first thing you want to do is just get a paper towel or a napkin and you want to make sure that you clean your gem that way there are no oils on your gem when you paint on the bottom of it okay so as you can see it has a dome shape at the top of the gem and I forgot to say that you want to get the larger ones I had the small ones and the small ones really didn't show the glitter or the glitter mix as well so I just recommend that you get to use the larger ones but like I said you can see they have a dome shape and you want to paint the Polish at the bottom the flat side of the gym and you can use any nail polish whenever it comes to this you can get very creative but I am using this OPI nail polish and that's from the Nicki Minaj collection I believe it's called metallic for life and is one of my favorite nail polishes I'm gonna have to do and it's very simple very cute and I'm actually going to post a video on a project that went on a project but kind of like a little small gift that you can give I'm doing the Christmas time using these so you just want to make sure that you have enough coats and between coats you want to make sure that you let the polish dry so I put one layer a Polish I'm just gonna let this dry for a couple of minutes well I put about three coats of this polish now depending on how opaque or transparent your polishes you're gonna have to put several coats of the Polish and as you can see the Polish is very thick so you're gonna have to let this dry for quite a bit of time I usually let mine dry for maybe thirty minutes or what I usually do I just set them aside before I go to bed and in the morning they're dry so this is what it looks like so it's really really pretty and like I said you can use this with any polish that you have and now I'm going to show you how to do the glitter mix whenever you have a glitter mix and you want to do this on a gem okay so like I said before you just want to make sure you get all of the oil off of your gem then you want to get your glitter mix that you want to use and just put it on a flat surface or a piece of paper I'm just using this plastic topping you want to put quite a bit that way it covers the gem I just want to get your clear top coat and you just want to do a thick layer of polish and you want to make sure that you cover the entire gym and like I said maybe about two coats that'll be perfect for a thick coat of the clear polish put at the bottom of my gem all you want to do is just place the gym on the glitter mix and you just want to press down firmly that way the entire bottom of the gym gets coated with D and glitter mix and so you just want to wait just a couple of seconds just make sure that um everything gets coated at the bottom okay so now that your gym has been sitting in the glitter mix for a couple of seconds you just want to tap it to get any of the loose glitter at the bottom and then as you can see if you don't put a topcoat at the bottom of this the glitter mix will eventually come off because if you place your finger on top you're going to see a lot of glitter that's falling off so you want to get your topcoat or for this prior recommend a topcoat that you really don't like because the glitter mixes tend to believe so you just want to get your topcoat and then you just want to seal in the glitter mix now for the most part if you see some that are hanging off like you have some you can just go ahead and take that off but what you want to do is you just want to make sure that you still in this glitter mix with one layer of clear and nail polish and that's what I'm doing here and then you just want to let it dry again for maybe thirty minutes or until you think that it's safe to UM move around or make sure that it doesn't smear or anything like that okay so these are the two that I did now they're still wet but I just wanted to show you how cute they came out this is my favorite one but of course I made a lot more and I have a lot more gems to do but like I said they're really simple and really easy and I really hope you guys like this especially with the holidays coming in right I think these make great for like you know stocking stuffers or giving them away as little small gifts and they're just really easy and really cheap to make so they won't put a dent on your wallet also um I'm going to be posting a video of how to give these away and how to package them and make them look really really pretty and I hope you guys look forward to that video hope I can get it in within a week or two
