[Music] you how long have you had your pure wood-mizer you got the same thing exactly the same so how long have you had it about two years and you cut all the time I I could say busy full-time with it how if I had dogs do it with I have enough demand that I could say sod full-time but you're saying the demand is for the longer logs I not all but a lot of it is there especially cats like like I have a customer that that I cept it does all pull long buildings yeah that he does double dresses together and he has to have those aboard cut the mattresses is the webbing it takes by sixes oh so he had to have exactly the right width to there so those just slide down over top of the six mistakes all right some custom cut custom cut and long that means so I I have I have three boxes of blades and I haven't changed the first one yet okay I always really impressed with them I have a sharpener well have a set up yet I can keep watering your and your thing and keep your water on when you run it yeah if you don't it gets hot and once he will do that then that light together uh-huh don't separate them really well I've been running water and keeping the water on it just to keep it cool I thought it was to lubricate the cut but you're saying it's to keep the blade cool yes I had my son las run it and they didn't keep the jug full of water and it run out and and where they weld this band together yep it separate it gets hot and it comes right apart in the middle well that's that I've always kept the water on it because it seemed to cut better when I ran the water but but keeping it cool that makes sense what do you think about unlike a planer head do you see any value in that have you thought have you had demand for it with people you're cutting for if you drag your your logs to very much dirt yeah it dulls you buddy really fast and so they have that little button that little player on on the goes with it with a mill it cuts the bark and I see it had a head yet I'm not sure it's available for our models but I haven't seen it for this I was thinking that the one that's on the rollers like this it's an actual planar head that rolls back and forth so you can really smooth your your Timbers up so you don't get a rough cut I've never tried and goes I have a 16 inch regular commercial planer that also you cut your boards and then it's like an is running through right to clean them you look at it'll play any of these big Timbers you got here it will play those but I most the people are asking for the rough cut they like the rough cut and so I don't know that that makes any sense I mean I'm not building cabinets or furniture occasionally put it up for the real finished insides look somewhat like to have explained but but the majority like this little rough look yeah well I it's been such a good little sawmill and and it's I I just see just years and years of continuous use out of it they work really well the only thing is sometimes you use it a lot you'll wish you had a log roller which the bigger models I've got that automatic right do have a log roller it's right over here if you that that rolls the logs really that's what I use in my meal yeah is the tractor and set them up there the time to be not just a godly bread like this haven't rolled if you can turn this turn it over and steady on it's doctor loader you can move it anything negative to say about the this machine the rotations frustrations at yeah I really haven't had any because I before I bought mine I researched it really heavy and I only had two choices and it would my job was it was one of those choices and it was my actually is my preferred choice and when I found one this model yeah at a good price I just jumped on it and it has a diesel motor in it and the hello you got that J I'm running gas and you got diesel i I would I would prefer that especially where I've got so much diesel equipment around here but but the gas motor seems to run what what did you end up having to pay for yours we paid 6,000 FAR's yeah that's that's our smoking deal for a diesel motor we had to go clear it up and a brand of Montana to get it that it was really a smoke it has a 25 foot cut on policy and I'm old I'm 18 so you've got it a track extension plus a diesel two more didn't get oh you always get the good deal that I would like I would like to be able to go to 25 because then you could comfortably cut 20 or 21 which would let you cut timbers to 20 or whatever 20 and 24 are real popular where do you get most of your lumber where are you getting your trees I have a I cheat because we have five hundred twenty acres of a virgin forest that my grandfather bought so here's you so you're getting your off your own land well you might have her own land you know you always get the good deal that's us so basically divided by about my meals because like we had a lot of trees as hydrants sod yeah and and so I just but it's in a family trust and anytime that could go so I don't know I've been trying call the other avenues of trying to find different would my only the only way I'm getting it is is doing construction projects on these cabins and then they ask us trees to the to clear the lot and then I get to bring the trees home and we've got I got quite a few pretty good pile yeah but I think if I got serious about cutting I would I'd burn through that pile pretty quick they there's guys that bring a man but but a semi load so I can get them I've been talking to it will more moves down there in st. Anthony will more lumber wilmore's at the sawmill down how and they've got some contracts with for service and I was going to get with them and say guys what would it cost to deliver me a truckload there's some guys that deliver firewood brings about you Southern Utah's that doesn't cheaper and you probably can get a better deal with them guys and you know kitten even from these guys that are working right across the street lately count because well Moore's have their own saw me on they and they don't like the competition yeah so you're going to pay premium for their logs right but well we'll have to get what you had seen to those guys out of southern Utah what do you find in are you charging is it just board foot treat and what are you charging a four foot I talk by the board foot but mostly what I've done for a chimeric number for commercial a song is I they've been your own logged in I have just saw the logs right so I they pay me by a board pittance but it's just a cut price because they're providing the lumber provide their own logs and I just sort of give give me a comparison if if I bring you a tree what you charge a board foot and then if you supply the lumber the trees what's the board foot cost usually when I supply the tree I call BMC and asking what it would cost for that same log yep and then I give him a little less so kind of going rate - a percentage right well for me living you know down in the flatlands five minutes from Home Depot buying a sawmill made absolutely no sense because I could go to Home Depot and buy lumber cheaper than I could produce it but out here in this environment having access to the trees and it being so far from another you know lumber source where I can get boards this thing is page just keeps paying for itself over and over again saving me the travel and the time and giving me the convenience to make those custom cuts like you said - for whatever I might need here on projects around the house also you're going to see an increase in lumber prices because the the president United States just got in a big fight with Canada over embargo they put on milk and so he put an embargo on their lumber where we get the majority of our lumber in Canada I've noticed it has I've been bidding houses and cabins for this summer that I had 12 dollars a sheet for 4x8 half inch OSB panels and they're up around $15 now and it's killing me I'm having to go back to owners and say I need to change my bed having that sawmill and being able to come on boards is is making me a lot of money more than anything it's it's the convenience of having what I need when I need it where I'm in a situation that's going to cost me two hours to go somewhere and get something thank you immediately was that we did a lot of log homes yeah and so I was always hauling a log somewhere to try to get I cut to cut certain custom side to fit into a certain spot either flatten on one side or flatten on the other side and I always with all my wish list for a long time - yeah my own Glackin is they'll be going and do it and take it back to the job yes one Oh what so like you can cut like it here if you're needing two by sixes yeah then you can you can cut here and then begin us to five and half inches then catch your five-minute pinch pieces off by having say this piece as a three which were a two by twelve your heavy demand is in two beige to the sixes incubate fours okay so four six eight three that's why then is it when you say are we going full dimensional I can full two inches or we're actually dimensional lumber inch and a half by three and a half inches I kind of mentioned out between a half and replace that a regular said with with my cut because they're accurate enough they don't have to play them I can still build so slow down be smooth well Mike I've been cutting everything to a full two inches by four inches or two inches by full six inches a my thought was that I could resaw that or replay knit to whatever but if you need to you can but if you start getting you only cut a half inch off of here then it's pretty easy to get it not to Y zero so I think you just make a specific cut for the specific board that you need and I found that it's that most people don't even notice that that's not playing board when I cut them a dimensional size yeah they can't even tell the difference as long as you got a sharp blade and you're nice and smooth people never have noticed that this rough side llamas okay so as you built those shots in those buildings my concern has always been the twist that you get as some of this this stuff that's not kiln dried maybe dries a little bit what do you do or how do you bring it together to minimize some of that if you cut that and salt when it's green you need to do like you've done here and put stick it under it yeah so it can air all the way around and band it all in little hole okay so that it's in the pile it doesn't so if you pop or twigs sticker this band in this and as it dries to stay straight why doesn't that's all why do I run through but this this spider you leave that live-edge deficit with the live edge on and then went through that and belts hand that off smooth yeah and put a charisma on top of that that would look really pretty these knots and things it's in that respects your character to that is the resin just built in there you need to make just a little wider pull two inches okay for countertops though finger helps to warping the reference and copying that we're getting
