How to Make Laser Cut Name Flowers

hi this is Federico with cuddle and in this video I'm going to give you a quick introduction to the name flower template uh with this one you can create a flower with a name on the stem like this one and all you need to do is type the name and choose the flower that you like and you're ready to cut it so I'm going to show you how to use the template how to adjust certain settings that you need sometimes to make it look really good uh then I'm going to share some tips on painting it and putting it together so let's get started you will find a link to this project down in the video description once I'm on this page I'm going to to scroll down to see all the different options I can change and the first and most prominent thing is of course to change the name itself so I only need to click on this box and then type a name I'm going to put my own name as an example uh and then you can choose any flower by clicking this options box here and uh we added the name uh the birthday flowers by month in order and then a few more flowers uh that people requested so just to change it I'm going to uh put the DAT here for April and then you can of course change any of the numbers here by either scrubbing to the right to make them bigger so the the stem gets longer uh or simply by typing the specific number that you want I'm going to get it back to the default and you can of course also change the S thickness if you want to and then uh you can change the orientation of the flower you might want to read it in different directions if you want by uh selecting this orientation here you can have it on on the left um or on the right now let's talk about a couple of possible adjustments you might want to make so uh I'm going to click on the font folder here to reveal a few more options uh the most obvious one here is that I can change the font there are a few recommended fonts uh and then every time you change it you'll see it here on the preview and of course there are any other fonts you can choose uh and then uh you can of course change the font size and then there is this second option uh this one is super helpful for certain fonts that are not optimized for laser cutting so for example this one like I can see how the r here is very thin and that might just burn out when I cut it out of certain materials with my laser uh and might just disappear so with thicken I can thicken the font and you'll see how it nicely adjusts so I have better chances of cutting certain fonts another thing we might want to adjust is the text position um sometimes with these typographical elements even though they're perfectly centered that might not be what looks best I think it's a matter of perception so we can adjust for that so for example here I think the uh name could be closer to the flower so I can always move it closer if I want to and then uh sometimes you might want to Center things uh according to your eye and you can also change it here by changing the Y position last thing to mention in this folder is that there is this outline text uh checkbox so this one allows me to select whether I want this sort of chunkier bottom layer the project gets cut in two layers a top layer this one and a bottom layer and so if I uncheck the box you'll see how that bottom layer now just perfectly matches the name with certain materials we found out that if you cut it like this it might be too springy or too flexible and might be likely to break so uh but we still added the option depending on the material that you're using last thing I'll mention is that if you want to display this flower as an ornament you can always put a hanging hole on it so I can click here to see the options and you can put it on the top of the flower right there at the bottom um or at both sides depends on how you want to display it so let's cut an example uh so I can show you how to assemble it so I'm going to revert to all the defaults and as a recap I'll show you so we can type any name that we want I'm going to type tulip I want to cut a tulip um I can change the font of course I'm going to select this uh clicker script um I can change the text position so it looks good in this case I think the toolip needs to be a little bit higher and then uh in this particular case I might want to adjust the thickness you so it cuts nicely and then when I'm ready to cut it I can simply click this blue button and get uh an SVG so I'm ready to download it so I'm going to hit download and I'm ready to cut it here's the top layer which I'm going to unpainted and this is the bottom layer and I'm going to paint this one using an acrylic paint marker I chose this bright orange for the head of the Tulip and I just covered the entire surface because I'm relying on the top layer to give it definition so it's an easy paint job for the leaves I chose this bright green and I'm also going for full coverage here uh I also decided to paint the back of the letters I think this makes them pop out nicely once the paint was dry I applied some wood glue to to the back of the top layer and then I spread it carefully with a toothpick and the goal here was to try and get an even and thin layer I plac it on top of the bottom layer and then I started clamping it making sure all the sections were aligned and then I just put a clamp everywhere I saw a section that wasn't staying together and then uh set it aside to dry and here's the final result I think when the two layers are bonded together it feels really sturdy I like the way that this project combines a typographical element with a purely decorative element and it combines them in a fairly flexible way because you can customize the file to make it look just right or to make it work for your use case but even after that you can choose to make it out of different materials or to paint it in different ways to make it really your own so I kind of like that flexibility so I hope uh this project is fun for you or is
