okay this is gonna be a full tutorial on how to get started in Unreal Engine 5 making cinematics so this is for anyone that's trying to learn the basics first go to the website and download the epic games launcher once you've done that go open up the epic games launcher go to Unreal Engine and install Unreal Engine 5. it's going to be around 60 gigs so it pets that once you've done all of that go to the marketplace and type in Paragon in the search bar add all of the Paragon characters into your basket they're all free so you don't need to worry about any of that I'm using Countess and Quang for our tutorial next type in Infinity Blade and you can add all of the free Infinity Blade assets into your basket I'm using Iceland's Infinity Blade icelands once you're done all of that launch on bro engine 5. you should see a page like this go to games go to third person leave everything as it is you can add eight Ray tracing if you want and if you can choose a location to add your project choose a name once you've done that just press create and wait foreign [Music] let the shaders finish what they're doing before you actually do anything in that engine the big window in front of us is the viewport this is where we're going to be spending most of our time holding down the right Mouse button will make you look around and using wasd while holding the mouse button will let you move around in the viewport Holden q and E will let you go up and down if you select any object in the viewport it's going to show you it in the outliner and you can use the arrows to move it around the three options above are going to let you either rotate or scale your objects and the options besides all of those will let you uh snap the objects to exactly how you want it foreign [Music] next we have the world settings here if you don't see it you can go to Windows and choose well settings we'll talk about the world settings more later on in the tutorial if you want to undo anything you can press Ctrl Z and that will undo everything that's pretty much everything in the viewport that we need if we want to start adding assets into our project go back to the epic games launcher go to your library scroll down to where you see Vault and you can start adding your Paragon characters and the Infinity Blade environmental map that we just added or downloaded into our vault so to do that just press add to project go to show all projects go to 5.0 and add it like that unless if you've read if you just downloaded Unreal Engine 5.0 then you don't need to do these steps [Music] once that's all done you can go back into the project and I've paused the video for you to show you where the content browser there is because I have mine Dot and I forgot to show you in the video on how to dock yours but once you've opened up your content browser you'll see all of your assets going to Affinity blade go into Maps and open up Frozen Cove once your math is all open make sure you let the shaders finish doing what they're doing before you do anything exit out of all of the warnings it doesn't matter and we're going to fix the lighting rebuild once all of the shaders are done [Music] shaders are all finished to fix the lighting and the reflection go to build and build lighting only let this do what it's doing go get a coffee [Music] once all of the building is done this is what the environment looks like to get rid of all of the weird lines and whatnot just press G and G is like the game view next what you're going to want to do is go to the outliner and type in player star in the search bar and delete the one that's in the level now what we're going to want to do is actually add our own player start by going to that button up there go to all classes type in playoff and just drag and play a star in the viewport next rotate the player's start 90 degrees so when you see the blue line that's pointing that needs to be facing straight let's go into the world settings and in game mode override change that into third person blueprint BP third person game mode select game mode default pawn and choose one of the characters that you imported into the game once you press play you'll see your character first you need to wait for the shaders to be finished before you do anything your character won't be able to move but if you want to learn how to make your character move watch my last tutorial on how to set up Paragon characters this character in its default stage can only attack [Music] now I want to change the skin of our character and I also want to add some effects to do that go to the content browser go to one of your characters go to characters heroes your character and then go to the character blueprint you'll see some errors but let's just forget about that for today it's not for this tutorial don't forget to save guys to save just click on where it says unsaved and save always make sure to save [Music] as I've mentioned if you do want to learn how to make your characters move around this is where you will do it and in my last tutorial I'll show you how to do that but to change the mesh or the skin go to where it says mesh skeleton mesh asset and change it to whatever you want I'm using a Shogun let the shaders do what they're doing before you carry on so now we can exit out the blueprint character go to animations in the same folder scroll all the way down until you see level start montage and we're going to want to delete the play particle effect on this montage save exit out go down and or this tutorial I want the last move to have an effect so for counters her B normal montage is her last move to add an effect go to notifies where it says track one left click or right click sorry add notify and play portable effect once you do that if you click on it you can now assign an effect to that notify so I'll be using slash FX and just add that into that Notifier there you'll see soon start seeing the effects taking place and they're not actually right in the right location and the rotation is off so you just need to find a good position to add the effects there's really no right or wrong way of doing this is I think it's all based on what you think looks good so this is where I've got my effect and I'm going to do the same thing now for our second character so the same thing happens here just go to the blueprint character you can change the skin of the character or the mesh [Music] but this character I'll be using the frost Walker mesh [Music] and we'll be doing the same thing for this character so go to its animations scroll down and pick its last attack so for this one it'll be attack D slow [Music] find a good position for where you want to play your effect right click add notify play particle effect click on it and for this one I'll be using utl lightning now that we got all of the characters set up how we want them to be set up we just now have to get them into a sequencer and to do this really quickly and fast we're going to be using the tape recorder to get the tape recorder you're going to need to go into settings [Music] go to plugins type in tape recorder and enable it by by uh ticking it I've already got it enabled so I'm not going to do that you're also going to want to add the movie render queue so enable it and then restart your project [Music] once the project reopens we can close down plugins go to your content browser Infinity Blade and we need to reopen the map so go to Maps frozen core wait for it to reopen once we're done with that if we go into Windows go to cinematics and click on tape recorder you're gonna see some gear icons on the top right click on that scroll all the way down until you see countdown and turn that into 0.0 seconds go into source and add a player now we want to be able to press the green play button and the red record button at the same time to do that we need to press alt and P and have a mouse over the record button and click that when we've done that we will see a recording being played in the sequencer then we can play our character and it's gonna it's gonna record what the character just did so now I'm going to do the same thing for our second character but I don't want him to be in the same position that our first character is in so to do this all we need to do is move our player starts um asset let's call it into a new location so it's pretty simple just change where the player start location is once we're happy with the location that we've picked what we need to do now is go into the world settings and in default Pawn class all we need to do is just change it to our second character and now if we Press Play We will see our second character in the scene you might want to change the location of where the character is standing either he might not be in the right place or he's hovering over something so just do a little adjustments unfortunately I couldn't find a great place to put our second character as his feet was always above ground but it's okay we're gonna work with it now go back into Windows cinematics tape recorder and we're going to do the exact same thing that we did with our first character but now with our second character so pressing open p and pressing report at the same time letting the the recording happen doing our free animations or free attacks and then saving that now we need to make a new level sequencer to do that just click on the button that you see me clicking always remember to save guys add a new level SQL saw name it to what you want and you want to put it into a folder but I actually forgot to do it in this tutorial but for you make sure you put it in a brand new folder so I'll show you later on how to make folders when you're done with that you will see a new sequencer change the fps to 24 and go into the content browser and go into cinematics takes your date that you just did and don't pick those two uh sequences that you see there instead you want to open one of the folders and then pick the sequences with the character's name in it and just drag that into your new sequencer you can organize your subsequences uh how you want them and the little red bar at the end is going to be where your sequencer stops so you want to drag that all the way to the end [Music] now that you've got your two let's say animations make sure to save always save guys you want to add a camera and there's a camera icon that says create new camera just click on that and the camera you can now move the camera as if you're moving um normally in the viewport you can change the camera speed to get a precise position where you want your camera to be now you want to put your Play Bar in the first frame you can click a button and scroll all the way down to where you see cine camera actor and you'll see a couple keyframes that we'll talk about later but for now we want to change the focal length you can change it wherever you want I'm using 85 just because I like it and we can also change the focus distance which we'll be doing as well the little circle buttons next to the arrows those are your keyframes and that's how we keyframe each position and or anything really so we'll do that now so in transfer in transform this is where your camera is moving and how your camera moves uh I'm just putting the camera a little bit more back and I'm going to keyframe this position so the camera won't move and I'm also going to keyframe the focal distance and now if I drag the playhead to uh let's say the end of the character's animation we can then move the camera forward and keyframe that position of where our camera is going to end and also we're going to keyframe the focal length so the uh our character comes into Focus once the camera is closer to the character [Music] so now when we press play or move the playhead you're gonna see the camera and the focal distance change in real time so now we're going to do the exact same thing for our second character with this though we're gonna make a brand new camera and we're going to find a good position to place our camera and do the exact same steps [Music] now to view our scene just go all the way up and where it says camera Cuts click the little camera icon and then it's going to play Both of uh both of our cameras at the same time to show us our scene now we made a little bit of a mistake our first character just disappears out of nowhere where the camera is moving so that's not good we need to do this character's camera movement again so sometimes you just need to either move the camera closer or you know choose a better position for your camera um so yeah [Music] now that I have to move what we've done we can render out our sequencer and make sure you save to do that press the button that's on the screen now and you've got two options you can either render it out with the movie render queue or the movie scene capture Legacy I'm not going to explain too much about these but the movie scene capture Legacy is where you can render out things quickly though they won't come out as good and the movie render queue is where you can render out things let's just say properly I'm going to show you some basic settings so in the output we can change the resolution to either HD or 4K from this example I'll be using 4K that's 38 40 to 2160 and then in the out for directory make a new folder [Music] name it scenes double click on scenes make a brand make a new folder in that call it wherever you want I'm calling it Paragon cn001 or new parable scene001 double click that and select that as the folder but delete jpg and add Dot exr and also add anti-aliasing all of the settings that I'm showing you from here on out are very very basic stuff so like the sample count this is very low for More Sample counts click on override and also save your preset so you don't have to do these settings ever again so I'm going to quickly show you now on how to make a folder in your content browser so just go to your content browser go to content and add a new folder by right clicking and new folder name it movie render queue if you want you can name it what you want and then we're going to be saving our preset for that movie render queue by going by opening up save as preset go to content move your render queue and save it there I've got to also say an anti-aliasing go to Advanced and change the wall of warm-up count to 120. now all you need to do is just press render local and just wait for it to finish [Music] now we do have a slight little problem here um as you can see the characters clothes are going a little bit crazy I'm not 100 sure on why that's happening or how to fix it I'm just hoping that in the future this fixes it itself but if anyone does know how to fix that now and they can let me know in the comments that would be amazing thank you thank you [Music] so now that the rent is fully finished we can close out of Unreal Engine and we need to get a video software editor so I'll be using DaVinci Resolve the reason I'm using DaVinci Resolve is because we can easily get our exr files into a video file if you press this button here that I'm showing you in the screen right now and then go and find where you saved your project uh the way you saved your sequencer or your scene so for me it's in scenes new Paragon and then just drag the video file that you'll find and then go to the next Tab and drag that file into your track and now you have to do a little bit of editing depends on your on your take so for me I need to cut off a little bit of the beginning because she's like transparent I just don't like it and also while I was watching this back I had to um also cut a bit of the second character's intro because uh the first character's effects plays over it for no reason and I don't know why that happened but here's what it is so sometimes you just need to like fix things up so right here for example I need to cut and to do that I'm pressing uh I think it's alt and B but you can also press the scissors that's on the left side now we need to do some color grading but I'm not going to get into it too much and I'm not really going to be doing any real color grading all I'm actually going to be doing is just brighten up the scene because it's a bit too dark for me to do that go into the color wheel that you see me pressing right click on the graph and add a correction node once you've done that in the curves graph you can see me adjusting a few things this is all up to you it's it's up to you and how you think what what you think looks good but for me I like to usually I like to make my graph look like this but the most important thing to do is change your gamma and gain so you can make your scene a little bit brighter as you see me doing here so I'm going to speed this up and yeah [Music] so now you can add music or you can do voiceovers you can do whatever you really want with the scene I'm going to leave it how it is and I'm just gonna export this now to do that press the Lost tab that looks like a rocket now just choose a name for your new scene choose a location and you can change the format to MP3 if you want but I'm just going to leave it in QuickTime and you can also change the resolution but you know just leave it at the resolution that you had it in the first place you can change the frame rate too but again leave it to what you left it in on real Engine add to render and then render all foreign [Music] [Music]
