hello hello welcome back to my channel i'm sheena as always and i'm excited to bring you a new video today uh before we get started i want to remind you to hit the subscribe button make sure you subscribe to my channel and also hit the little dingy doggy bell so that you will be notified when i put up a new video since they're sort of sporadic so anyway um today's video is going to be showing you how i make baby moccasins to get started you need to start with a pattern as always with moccasins if you've seen my other moccasin tutorials you know that i always make a pattern so this is the little soul pattern and because they're baby mocs these are more like infant size mocks i just sort of make instead of measuring the kid's foot i just sort of made a generic sized uh foot pattern so this is about two and a quarter inches wide by about four inches long and i just kind of rounded it out so that it just makes an oval and made sure to mark my center on the top and my center on the bottom then i took my sole pattern and i brought it over here traced it onto this piece of paper and added about a quarter of an inch around the edge right here and then this i ended up making exactly four inches wide and extending it just a little bit down below our end point here so then i attached drew lines from here from where i rounded it out to hit here and here where the four inch mark is and that's what gave us this little bowing out shape so if you notice i have some marks around the edge obviously i have my center marked here i also have these two little marks down here that denote for me where the beadwork is going to stop this is my center point here for the the t the opening of the the heel will be here this will be the toe so once you have that part finished then we move over here and you transfer that to your leather i'm using just a nice kind of thicker buckskin leather i like the white it's just my own kind of thing and you can see i've transferred all of those marks all my center points here and here and my end beadwork points here um and i also transferred these center points here so that i could draw my t so we need this center line to go all the way down the back but you don't want to draw it on the front you don't want it you want your toe to be open and then i drew my opening here at three-fourths or an inch and a half three-fourths of an inch on each side same with my little soles i just have my center points marked here so when i put them together i can line them up and then you'll also need two little tongues i like to put the little chevron in it you can do them however you choose they need to be an inch and a half wide here and then however long you like them and i also have two laces that i've cut out of the same piece of leather all right guys so i've got my little uppers beaded and if you want to know how to do lazy stitch on leather like this there's another video on how to bead on moccasins um so definitely go check that out and i just went ahead and did this for uh quickness so i have them all beaded i have both of them done here and i'm going to go ahead and cut this line here and cut out our tea so let's do that and now we're going to put them together so because these are baby mocs you don't need the welt um in there because they're not gonna be you know they're not gonna be like worn worn like walked around in by said baby okay so there we go so now we're gonna take our sole here that we created and you can see i have my little marks there and there and so this is the inside where the marks are is the inside and so we're gonna put essentially the outsides together so that we're sewing it inside out so i'm gonna line up flip this around i'm gonna line up my points here and i'm gonna take my i'm gonna put my little pusher on so i have one of these little um needle pusher through or things that are super super helpful you can find them on i think crazy crow has them but they're just a little piece of plastic that has some leather wrapped around it that helps to push through um needles like this so i've also got my see if you can see it my little glover's needle and my sinew already ready to go so i'm going to line these up and i'm going to start going through them so i'm going to go through the very middle here and if you've seen my other video on oops on how to do how to make moccasins like uh big moxens big people mocks um you'll notice this so i do it the same way so i've got my piece here and i'm going to tie a knot in my sinew here so just a good square knot and then i'm going to rethread it and i'm going to do a whip stitch all the way around to the back middle and then take my needle off and i'm going to go back up here to the center and i'm going to go all the way around this side so i'll show you a little bit of that and then i'll show you where we're at here so i like to go front to front to back it's just easier for me to push it through but it really depends on your likes and dislikes how it works for you okay so we're gonna do just a whip stitch so i'm gonna be going front to back every time and i'm gonna put my stitches fairly close together since there is no welt so i'm going about i guess my stitches are about an eighth of an inch apart all right so here's the little stitch so it's just a basic whip stitch and i'm going to go all the way around this one side and then turn around and go around the other side i'll show you how we finish it up okey-dokey i got the first half done i went around this first side over here you can see and i got all the way to the back end right here and that just so happens to be where my beadwork stops so now i'm going to go around the other half on this side and then we'll flip them all right all sewn all the way around so now i'm going to take my two little strings right here that i have left over and i'm going to tie them into a square knot really really tightly so that they don't come apart there we go now we're going to flip this inside out so literally just start working it and pushing it through here these are so much easier to turn than the big mocs there you go just like that so now let's finish shaping it up here look at it it's so cute just like that so now i'm going to flip this back around and i'm going to trim off this excess that is right here and right here and just i'm going to trim it very straight with the beadwork right here just to get off that get that little bit of excess off of there and then i'm going to sew the back together and we will trim it up and finish her up and there we go so i've gone up and all the way back down now i'm going to do another square knot with my two little loops here with two little ties and then trim them flush with the end all right our back is all put together and now at this point you can choose whether or not you want to trim the these tops right here some people like them kind of extra long do you have a little bit more space for the um for the laces in there but it's really it's really up to you i think i'm probably going to trim them because i like them to be flush with and straight with the beadwork all right so our next step here is to sew on our little tongues that we created and then put our ties in so i've got my piece of sinew here and i'm going to whip stitch this on the same way we did the back and the same way that i do the tongues on big people mocks as well so just leave a little bit of a tail and then line your tongue up here [Music] start at one end and whip stitch all the way down to the other end and then turn around and whip stitch your way back again so i'm going to leave a little bit of a tail so i can tie it off at the end and i'm going to whip stitch all the way down this way uh so if you can see how i'm doing this i just wanted to try and show you so i'm going through back through the same holes that i made when i went this way so now that i'm coming this way i'm going through the back through the same hole so that they have this little x mark on the front okay so i'm all the way across here and i pushed since i was coming from back to front my needle ended up coming out the front here so i just pushed it through so that both of my threads would be on the back and now i'm going to tie these two little strings together into a square knot so that they hold really really tightly just like that so now you can trim those off fairly close to the edge there okay now our next step is to cut some little slits we're gonna cut one here and one here on each side so we can put our laces through now we'll pop our laces through starting at the back push it through the back two holes here make sure it's flat and even so just pull them evenly together and nice and flat on the back and then push them through the ones on the front through the holes on the front here and through the hole on the front on this side doo doo doo maybe okay and there you go so that this all the way through and now all you have to do is tie them so just lift up your little tongue here tie it into a cute little bow just like that so now we just have to do the other one all right here they are all finished aren't they adorable just cute finished all the way around look guys they're all done aren't they cute they just adorable so these uh little moccasins are super easy to do um they do take a little bit of practice obviously to um you know to get them the way that you want them always um but they are fairly easy to do they're a lot easier to do than big people mocks for sure um but if there's anything that you feel like didn't make sense or you feel like you know you have some questions definitely feel free to leave a comment down below i would love to answer your questions um and these little mocks make great gifts so if you have a niece or a nephew or grandbabies that are coming or whatever um yeah feel free to make these little little moccasins for them because what's nice about them is they don't take very long time they're fairly easy to make and they make a great keepsake you know so you know maybe your kids will have them and then their kids will have them or you know they can get passed on and passed along so anyway um thanks so much for joining me today i really appreciate it i hope you guys are doing well and staying safe and uh yeah if
