hey guys welcome to Rosie's dessert spot today we'll be making this fun palette knife painted buttercream cake I've got a six inch this is a mud cake I baked it with some raspberries frozen raspberries mixed through the batter so it's kind of like a raspberry white chocolate mud and it's filled with a raspberry white chocolate again Ash buttercream adding on each layer and creating a dam in regular white buttercream this will just make sure that the soft filling doesn't seep out of the cake as it layers are built if you're a little bit worried about it seeping out while you're creating the crumb coat I recommend popping it into the fridge before the crumb coat goes on that way it hardens solidifies and it's just a lot more stable go on with a thin layer of buttercream to trap in the crumbs even out the outside and then drag that top flip towards the middle refrigerate your cake for about 20 minutes until it's nice and set and in the meantime you can go ahead and practice your petals with your palette knife take the buttercream and spread it back and forth constantly for a minute or two this will help to remove any of those teeny tiny micro bubbles from your frosting the laptop also soften out your buttercream and makes it a lot easier to create your little palette petals give a firm press and then gently peel back on the palette knife to create the petal collect a little bit clean up the sides and then on ego again you can create little flowers with this but I just wanted that really kind of random petal effect all over the cake I've gone on with a lilac very very light lilac colored buttercream smooth it out just like we did before and then drag that top lip towards the middle I didn't put my cake into the fridge I just went straight on immediately after smoothing it out so again just loading up that knife the pellet knife and then pressing down onto the cake and gently peeling back your tool you can overlap them if you like two or three usually works although I do have a few different colors I also found it a lot easier to work with a palette knife upside down so you're basically peeling up and away or to the side instead I've gone in with a more pinky hued purple just over the top and then a darker Hue as well these become a lot easier the more you do it it's a bit of a struggle at the start but it gets really fun and really easy let's keep going if you're enjoying these tutorials feel free to subscribe would you create a new cake decorating content every week this is a medium shade of purple that I've gone on to my third and final color for the petals and you also want to add some on the top of the cake as well I think really helps to balance out the whole look just laying them down flat on the top of the cake there are packets of pellet knives where you have a few different shapes and sizes I'd actually recommend going for something a little bit bigger than what I used here I feel like a create much more presence on the cake it's a lot larger petals but totally up to you could also add some Luster Dust towards the end I had one in diamonds it's called by creative cake decorating and it gives this really elegant Shimmer to your cake that's it that's how you create these really fun petals in buttercream I hope you guys give this a go if you do I would love to check it out hashtag Rosies plus I can see your awesome creations as well thanks for tuning in and we'll see you in the next one
