hey friends welcome back to harvest hill cottage we made a picture frame but not just any picture frame this is a frame for our brand new tv and we're going to show you exactly how we did it [Music] so we recently bit the bullet and bought the new samsung frame tv it is a true flat screen tv that hangs flush on your wall as if it were a piece of artwork it actually comes with a built-in series of artwork that you can display and it looks like artwork hanging on your wall it's really cool this is not a paid promotion by the way it's just something that we think is cool and we want to share it with you now it comes just like you see here with a very thin black plastic frame we wanted something a little bit nicer and when we started pricing them online you know a nicer more ornate frame we were like major sticker shock we're talking hundreds of dollars so we thought hmm we could do this so we created our own frame that fits on the frame tv and we did it for under fifty dollars so we're going to show you exactly how we did it and by the way you can adapt this for any wall mounted flat screen tv we want to mention that we were inspired by jennifer laura who is a blogger and she wrote a really nice article on how she did this for her own tv so this is your supply list you want to pick out a decorative trim or molding that you like for your frame and gather up your supplies and let's get started [Music] okay the first step is probably the most important you really want to make sure you measure accurately and learn from our mistake make sure that you measure from the inside of that frame we made the big mistake of measuring the first time from the outside of the frame and our first frame was a bust [Music] forgot to snap a photo before so this has the frame on but just go from the inside edge to inside edge to get your measurements top to bottom and then side to side [Music] then you're just going to use a miter saw to make 45 degree angle cuts in your molding and this is the molding that we chose and we just went ahead and cut our two lengths and two widths for our picture frame [Music] [Music] so we invested in some corner clamps you can pick them up from your local hardware store and we use the clamps to set each corner into place and they were really helpful for holding everything in place nicely [Music] be sure to do this step on a flat surface that way your frame lays nice and flat and straight if you like diy and home decor and thrift flipping and saving money then please consider subscribing and supporting our channel and give this video a thumbs up so we can bring you more content [Music] okay the next step is to add glue we chose to use gorilla glue which is our favorite go ahead and just apply it on your seams on all of your corners and it'll just help to secure those corner edges and you could glue beforehand but we found that it was just better to do it after because fitting those corners together does take some finagling [Music] once your glue has dried you want to secure those corners with your brad nailer and we just put a couple of brads on each side of that corner just to give some extra stability to the corners of the frame john just did a quick test fit before we went on to the next step and it fit great we were we were real happy especially after our first failed attempt [Music] the next step is to add a mounting frame on the back side of the frame and so this is the piece that's going to fit over your tv and hold it in place so for the frame tv we measured 5 8 of an inch in from the inside edge of the frame and this is going to mark where those square trim pieces go on the back side of the frame [Music] now you're going to cut your one inch square trim pieces two lengths and the two widths and then you're going to glue it onto the back of your frame at that 5 8 inch spot if you have a different tv then you can custom fit this for your tv the idea is that these back trim pieces will hide the outer edges of your tv and also secure it onto the tv so it mounts the frame on the tv and hides the edges and of course the fun part sand your frame and paint it in your choice or stain of course we chose a gold paint and then i used a black glaze to age it up a bit [Music] and here is the finished frame all painted and ready to mount on the tv [Music] [Applause] next you will apply the velcro command strips on the inside edges of your mounting frame this will enable you to mount the frame to the tv with the velcro edges adhering to the sides of the tv rather than the front and it just gives a little added security so your frame doesn't pop off your tv [Music] doesn't that look amazing so i chose to display some artwork that fit in with my fall decor this is my mantel all decorated for fall if you'd like to see how i did my mantel and my fall decor you can check out that video i will link it below in the description box let's watch some tv on the tv [Music] the samsung frame tv has a beautiful picture quality and then you can just use the remote to access the artwork if you make an account with samsung you can have access to several free art selections and then i believe you can sign up for a monthly subscription where you can have access to even more [Music] this is just a sampling of some of the artwork that's included with the tv [Music] do [Music] thanks so much for hanging out with us today we appreciate you we hope you'll join us again next time and god bless you
