How To Lay Stone Veneer

[Music] this video I'm Stone veneering a wall so I'm going to talk about this project it's different than the other ones I've been doing so first thing you're going to notice is look down all this flagstone right I'm a flagstone patio right so because of the flagstone I had to make sure that I wasn't going to get them all dirty and I didn't want to build a bunch of plastic so since I'm laying the flagstone I had to make sure that I had room under there and I wasn't going to get them all dirty so I took the bad sides of these flagstones laid them here and then I put shims under down here can you see them put shims under about a/ inch for a mortar bed so you got that I'm on a block wall here so I'm about to put a cap on it and uh so that's why they're all flat with the top here and this is uh how you do the uh lick them and stick them part first thing I do is I paint the back of the the bonding agent you don't have to do that cuz people put it in the mortar I just do both of them so it's in the mortar and I paint it it's pretty easy slap some mud on the back come over to your wall cut up that's all right and then you just stick it in there and hold it occasionally you'll see I got these shims here in order to help hold it up for a minute so you don't get to sit there with it boom shim done clean the mortar off you're good to go another thing look land Stone you want to make sure you have like a variety these Stones were Mountain Stones you see they're really curvy and all sorts of strange angles I do my best to keep them level right there but you are going to have those stones that are angled and try to angle them back up you know um I try to go one two three and a split a break up the line and a split there up and down I don't try to go more than three so it's like one two split one two split one two with a split there like you want to split them up it's not like a brick wall and that's pretty much it for how to do this stuff so we're going to get the laying caps here in a minute but if you got any questions about laying Stone be happy to answer him thanks for watching
