this is a DIY installation video of the sump jet SJ 10 alright today we're going to show you how to put the Liberty pumps sump jet in this model runs off of city water power you don't want to buy this if you have a well because if your electric goes out then your well pump goes out problem a few days ago this is a Zoeller m53 pump was getting a little bit of water in it and kicking out the GFI my home was built with a GFI being the only outlet near the sump pump that's been a problem so we put in a new sump pump brand new Zoeller m53 this one's not kicking out the GFI working good and I've started to put in the subject Liberty pumps sump jet now there's a couple ways to put it in if you can you can hose clamp it to your primary pumps line but it says in the instructions to not hook it into that line which makes sense because if you hooked it into your primary line there's a chance that the water is just going to leach right back down in through the pump that it has failed so we've gotten a good start it comes like this and I've just started to fit pipes up we're going to go all the way up next to that pipe and out and then I'm going to Y into the downspout they like there's several places to buy these I bought mine on supply house calm like just under $200 this is the SBA 10 there's an SBA 10a which has an alarm on it that is almost twice as much money I believe I would like to have the alarm but I was being cheap this is what I will be lying into I'm going to be drilling a hole about seven inches over there now I am a amateur plumber my average trips to Lowe's home improvement or about three trips to get everything I need because I can't ever get it right the first time that average has come down from five trips and when I first bought my first house in 2003 so we're making improvements I really hate drilling holes in the house it's so final bad battery [Music] well we're in the house all right so we got our hole drilled in the house some insulation out of the way and when we ready to start doing some plumbing I slid a short piece of scrap PVC through the hole and put an elbow on it and I'm just kind of going to use that as a mock up outside and get things going might have actually be the piece that I use so this is where that piece of scrap came out at looks like I'm going to be able to use it for my through the wall piece so what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a sharpie and I haven't moved it so I'm going to mark it where I know that I need it to be on the inside that way if I'm moving it around and stuff as I'm cutting it I can get it right back where I need to without wanting throughout the process of this video feel free to comment and tell me how stupid I am and how I could do things so much better be great thanks this is where I like experience first of all this daylights out over there near the woods it has settled it used to be up over that pipe but the whole pipe has settled in the ground since the house has been built so some of this is going to remedy that I have purchased one of these I'm going to cut this and put it in here and then I'm going to go down from sorry I'll go down from here to this and we'll see how that works I've never seen this before on a house there may be a better way to do it again just comment how stupid I am and how I could have done it better and I will not have my feelings hurt but I will cry a little bit when I go to sleep at night mocked-up right here I am going to be able to put this elbow here and then elbow it in hopefully this all works out good [Music] all right so still working on the mock-up looking good we've just about made our landing [Applause] all right so I don't have anything glued but I'm liking how it's turned out going to go down to the basement make sure things lined up good [Music] all right so we're all mopped up gonna start gluing it together and then the three quarter inch hex [Music] [Music] all right all glued up like I said not the prettiest always get a little bit of purple all over me probably my weakest point ahead and make fun of me so when we get done inside I'll come back out with a little bit of silicone caulking silicone around my hole and then we'll be done out here so got most of my joints primed and kind of glue my first joint on the inside up here tight fit in there make sure get that thing going straight down all right so I almost forgot to do something I bought this rubber quick coupler joint and I want to cut this in half and put it right here that way I can take it apart easy if I ever need to pull like my whole pump assembly out it'll be easy to disconnect and get things out of there all right thank listening that up this is my son Mason he has his own YouTube channel tell you about that later all right I got Mason he's my fifth grader on the job right now he's tightening up that rubber quick coupler with the nut driver good job right so got all of our joints glued and go to a drain line heading out everything's glued outside we're getting ready to work on running the three-quarter inch PVC gonna come out from there do a 90 take it to the wall go up make my way over to here and I'm going to tee into a line over here now you may have solved that there's lines over here and he said well why are you going so far well this one goes up to the toilet and with it going in the same direction that line is going to go in it would be harder to tee into this line which affects well I'm just going right overhead it gets turned off in the winter time because it goes to an outside faucet I'm getting ready to start installing my three-quarter inch pecs now the the tubing that's pretty cheap that's like $11 for like a 20-foot stick of it these things however this was probably like $8 so I can shut it off if I need to these are like a 10 pack of the crimps or like six seven dollars and each one of these things are three to six dollars a piece that's what gets expensive it's really easy to work with them you got to have one of these if you want things to be easy it's either one of them works they're a way to cut the pecs real easy this is my first set of crimps that I bought don't ever buy a set of those they look kind of like nips for German horse hooves or something and they're very hard to use you have to just about have a pipe on each handle to get them tight enough or water squirting out of your crimps or you have to have vise grip hands this one here has leverage like ratchets and it this one was like 20 bucks this one was like almost 50 bucks but if you're gonna be messing with a bunch of packs or you know starting to use packs as your primary piping for plumbing and get a good set of these well we're at that point in the project that I always get to I forgot a piece that I'm going to need and I have to go back to Lowe's for the third time is that true honey do I always have to go at least three times always always has to its plumbing my average is down from five though used to be five times yeah so I had to go to Lowe's for one 3/4 by 3/4 coupler and I was one short and a ten-pack having enough of these crimps so since we've been back from Lowe's we go ahead and point it over there we ran that line up and along there we got to get some little clamps to hold it to the wood I had put by this splice right here to splice the two pieces together my original plan was I was going to use half-inch from there over to here and then I changed my mind all I have to do is put the tee up over here so I'm getting ready to crimp this in here so we've got our existing half-inch PVC or PEX I should say with our fitting and then that goes out to this 3/4 right here I'm just going to put the crimp on it and we should be all plumbed up so we're putting a on/off valve and our in line here just in case we have a situation where we need to be able to turn it off so pretty easy to do get your lamps lined up you crumple there you go all right so cleaning things up a little bit putting some of these you clamps on the pipes so they don't get bumped down here in the base like and broken wiggle around messed up a little bit probably could have gotten this pipe a little tighter to the wall so I'm just putting a backer board up which isn't exactly what I wanted I'm just going to tap calm that board to the wall and then run these in there so all right thanks okay so we're finishing up here I've got a five-gallon bucket of water to test this thing out see how it works all right I'm going to get another bucket now carried 15 gallons of water down the basement stairs see if this of it OOP there goes someone very slow that is going up and out I want to talk a little bit about how everything's working here it's all complete we've got the project done this is the sump jet water powered backup system for a sump pump it's made by Liberty pumps I bought it at supply house comm it was like two hundred and six dollars what I was with taxes included free shipping and arrived in a couple of days and it's a nice system if you're a sump pump is not working because electrics out or it's failed it works off of city water and it's doing a good job of keeping up so if you have city water it's a good idea you don't have to maintain a battery you don't have to worry about anything with the battery charging system not working as long as it's hooked up to city water and you have water this will work it has a foot valve on it so you don't have to put any kind of check valve in they did recommend as I said at the beginning of the video that you don't hook it directly into your primary sump pump line that you put it on a separate line going out I put a shutoff valve so I can shut it off in case there's any maintenance that ever needs done I also put a quick coupler in so that I can take it apart and pull the two pumps up out of here any other kind of maintenance on the primary pump or the backup pump need done please like follow and subscribe on here for more upcoming videos I've had my helper here Mason wells he has his own YouTube channel he's got some cool videos out there we'll put a link for him say hi Mason hi alright thanks and we'll see you around there it is still pumping seems to pump quite a bit slower as expected then the actually primary sump pump pumps but getting the water done and getting that water out of our curtain drains and out of our sample
