Ray tracing in Skyrim is
incredibly difficult to achieve. The creation engine
really wasn't meant for it. I'm going to show you how to install the best ray tracing-esque mods
available for Skyrim today. These mods are going to make the lighting and shadows in your game
feel lively and dynamic. First, you'll want to download and install
Vortex or any other mod Manager. If you need help with that,
I have a guidance description below. Next, go to Nexusmods.com and sign in. Use the search bar to find
a mod called Lux Via. Go to the files tab and press Mod Manager download on the main file, then press Slow Download and allow
Vortex to download the file. Now we're going to grab
a couple of other mods as well. Search for Lux and go to files and
then Mod Manager download on the main file. Search for Lux Orbis and go to Files, and then Mod Manager
download on the main file again. These mods rework Skyrim's interior lighting to create a dynamic
and ray tracing like environment. Now, there's one more mod that we need
to download, and it's called Enhanced Volumetric
Lighting and Shadows, or EVLAS. Go to the Mod page and press Files. Download both the main file and the
optional file with your Mod Manager. Also, it looks like we'll need address library for SKSE plugins
and SKSE installed. Address Library is pretty easy. You'll just need to download
that like the previous mods. If you do not have SKSE installed yet, then I suggest you watch my guide,
which is also in the description below. The rest of the downloads may take
some time to complete, but once they have, go into Vortex Plugins. First, go to address library for SKSE. And install it with the
Blue Never Installed button. Mine shows uninstalled, but that's just because I've
Uninstalled these mods for the video. Next, go to Lux Via. Install it
with the Blue Never Installed button. I'm not using the ENB Light mod in this setup, so I'm going to choose the second
option and then go to the Next screen. You can leave this page blank and move on to compatibility patches. Lux Via should pick up the patches you need, but if not, then briefly skim through and
see if it lists any of the mods you have. If it does and make sure
that patch is selected. Enable Lux Via by pressing
this disabled button. Now let's move on to Lux. Press Never Installed. In the options screen, select effect without particle
for both Beams and Mists/Fogs. Select Vanilla Options
for the remaining choices. Like I have here. Unless, of course, you have
special chandeliers or tables. Leave the grass in caves option disabled and move on to Brighter Nights
and Lighting Templates. Leave this section blank,
but remember that you can come back here and reinstall this mod if you need
to make the dark areas brighter. Now go through the patching sections and enable any patches for other
mods that you may have. If you don't have anything,
just leave it blank. Also, my installer picked up my mods automatically, so that may
be the case for you, too. Once you go through that and the
language packs, press finish. Enable the mod,
and move on to Lux Orbis. Press Never Installed and select the patches for the mods that you
currently have installed. This mod also picked up most of the patches
I required. Continue through the installer and press
Finish. After installing locks if you get this Missing Masters
message here, don't worry. You can either ignore it or go
in and disable the problem ESP. All right, we're almost finished. Now go into Enhanced Volumetric
Lighting and Shadows. Press Never Installed, and once it's
finished, go ahead and enable it. Okay, so now go to the underside version of the Enhanced Volumetric Lighting
and Shadows mod and install. Again once it's finished, enable it to. This is the closest we can get to a ray tracing like experience with
Skyrim mods at this time. There is a ray tracing shader, but at the moment,
it's locked behind a paywall. Now, if you want your game to look exactly like mine, you'll also need
to install the eVx ENB. If you're not sure how to do that,
then do not worry. I've got a guide right here. Oh, and join the discord if you want to
talk about games, mods or need any help. All right, see you guys.
